11/4/2023 pro-Palestinian protests around the world

I take it to mean that if someone speaks with empathy towards the plight of the Palestinians, they are swiftly labeled pro-Hamas. Which is ridiculous. So it is ridiculous humor. :)
I see your cartoon as obviously comparing Israel supporters to Hamas supporters. No, it is not funny.

As in these video's where misinformation has been spread and then later redacted.

It is a war which favors both sides. Each has its point. Best solution may be to give Palestine back to the Palestinians. But, then where do the Israelis go? No 'solution' adequately addresses all the possible 'outcomes'. And, unfortunately, in a situation like this the only real and lasting solution is that the strongest wins. Sorry. But, that's just the way of human history.

This what I can foresee. The strongest will win. What happens when the heavy hitters join sides?

I have no regrets about what I have said. I have been anti-war for over a year on this forum, most everyone knows.

People make statements of the war and act like they are true, but when I look to find the actual evidence it is missing, thus hypothesis...it is unproven, and I won't debate fantasies.
So, I guess you don't believe that the reported events of 10/7 actually happened, no babies beheaded, no >200 dead concert goers killed, no young Israel/German girl captured, tortured, beheaded while the Palestinians cheered, etc. To you that is just an unproven hypothesis. Got it. As for being "anti-war", most of us are, but Hamas/Palestinians have repeated said they will remain at war until all Jews are dead, and Israel erased. So your "anti-war" stance rings hollow since you support Hamas/Palestine. You are supporting the people who have vowed to keep the war going until their goals are met.

And for the record, the majority of Palestinians do in fact support Hamas. So yes, support for Palestinians IS support for Hamas.

Palestinians never had Palestine.

The people who started calling themselves "Palestinians" (some time in the early 60s, if I remember right) are people who lived primarily in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon who had a shared hatred for Israeli Jews.

There were never any Palestinians who lived in Palestine before the 60s (or might have been the late 50s).

Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) until soon after WWl, and was mostly a barren region where very small, scattered populations of Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived peacefully.

I was thinking the same... being "anti-war" is something I'd think most of us share. But by golly if terrorists strike my country, slaughter my neighbors, and swear they won't stop until everyone like me (Christian in my case) is dead, I'm not going invite them over for tea thinking they'll suddenly get all mushy and want to hug! I have to live in the real world... the other one is too scary. And strange.

No, that is not true. There were Palestinians who lived in Palestine before 1960, and even before the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The term “Palestinian” was used to refer to the nationalist concept of a Palestinian people by Palestinian Arabs from the late 19th century and in the pre-World War I period 1. The history of the Palestinian people is complex and diverse, and they have roots in various ethnic and religious groups that inhabited the region of Palestine over the centuries.

According to Wikipedia, the revolt in 1834 of the Arabs in Palestine against the Egyptian occupation is considered the first formative event of the Palestinian people 1. The Palestinian identity grew progressively during the Ottoman and British rule, and especially after the Arab Revolt of 1936-1939 against the British Mandate 1. The Palestinians faced many challenges and conflicts with the Zionist movement, which aimed to create a Jewish homeland in Palestine, and later with the State of Israel, which was established in 1948 after the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine 12.

The Palestinians have been displaced, exiled, and persecuted throughout their history, and many of them became refugees in neighboring countries or in other parts of the world. Today, there are about 13 million Palestinians, of whom about 5 million live in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, under Israeli occupation or blockade 2. The Palestinians have been striving for self-determination and statehood, and have been engaged in various political and diplomatic efforts, as well as armed resistance, to achieve their rights and aspirations.

The Palestinians are not descendants of the ancient Philistines, who were a seafaring people that settled in the coastal region of Palestine in the 12th century BCE and disappeared after the Babylonian conquest in the 6th century BCE 3. The name “Palestine” derives from the Greek word “Palaistinē”, which was used by Herodotus and other ancient writers to refer to the region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River 4. The name was later adopted by the Romans, who renamed the province of Judea as “Syria Palaestina” after crushing the Jewish revolt in 135 CE 4. The name “Palestine” has been used by various peoples and empires that ruled over the region, such as the Byzantines, the Arabs, the Crusaders, the Mamluks, the Ottomans, and the British 4.

The Palestinians are a diverse and resilient people, who have a rich and varied culture, history, and heritage. They are not newcomers or invaders, but rather the indigenous inhabitants of Palestine, who have been living there for generations. They have a legitimate claim to their land and their rights, and they deserve respect and recognition.

Wrong. I don't take sides. I try to find the facts. No I don't believe any of it. I will examine the evidence.

Just to make it perfectly clear. It is not "my" cartoon. A cartoonist produced it, and thought it interesting, I just copied and pasted his work.

Ok I agree with that. We agree on nothing. :)
Again, you are trying to "walk back" a previous post. YOU posted the offense cartoon, you own it. You didn't draw it but it's yours.

And you have taken sides, but try to walk that back too. Your disbelief of the facts about 10/7 attacks kinda say it all. May God have mercy on your soul.

They did not call themselves "Palestinians" until after Israel was established. That's what I learned in my college history classes. They use the term retroactively, and I guess that's their prerogative, but no country in the Middle-East or anywhere on the globe called those people Palestinians until the mid-1900s.

Jews called Palestine their home going way back to before the 1800s.

Israel has very formidable, technically advanced military.

In fact, I'm wondering why some members of the US Congress keep insisting they need help from our military. I don't think they do.
What Israel needs is public support from leaders around the world. They have ours for the moment. Will it last?

Might I suggest trying to "examine the evidence" with your own common sense and not rely on the biased left-wing AI Bing? (The A stands for artificial after all.) Jus' trying to be helpful.
This is an excellent point. It is very easy to fall into the "confirmation bias" trap, where we only look for things we agree with, and dismiss anything we don't agree with. We see that on here all the time.

Slightly off topic here, but I remember teaching this very thing to my daughter. I explained that how we worded something in a search was going to determine the results we get. (And AI wasn't even a thing back then yet.) Example: "Can a sore finger be cancer?" You're going to get results that will totally freak you out! But if "Why is my finger sore?" the results won't even mention cancer. Thank goodness she realized what I meant right away and used her common sense in the way she researched.

I too hate war and worry about the innocent people on both sides. I absolutely hate religion as it’s been the basis of many wars and atrocities throughout the ages.

It reminds me of the John Lennon song “Imagine.” Imagine there’s no wars, religion, etc. I am also worried about a world war. Israel doesn’t need our money. Homeless people do especially veterans, poor people including seniors and children.

Understand this TT: Any money not spent will not go to our homeless, our veterans, our poor seniors & children. There is no will to do so, it will not happen, and leaving Israel & Ukraine in the lurch will never solve our social problems here.

Excellent, Kate. That's why I laugh when some folks say they've researched. They don't know how. They weren't trained in research, which ain't easy. It's a skill, usually learned from academic attendance.

If they're as good at that as they are at housing the homeless, I've got plenty of time for baseball and beers. :p
The government has been excellent at preventing Islamophobia. The majority of Americans think Islam is a benign religion of peace.

The government has spent enough money on Muslim mayhem to house all the homeless. It has been almost non-stop since 9/11/2001.
