2023 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

Made it through tropical storm Ophelia unscathed.
News said it was just shy of a Category 1 hurricane
and hit landfall right at my front door.

My neighbor in her 80's who has lived here most of her life
said the tide was higher than she has ever seen.
Won't be long before we're oceanfront. I hope not.
I feel safer right where I am.

Praying for those to the north of me.

We got lucky. We are heading back from Hilton Head SC where we spent the week with grandchildren. If we'd been home we would have had Ophelias Rain and wind.
If we had picked the NC coast it would have been a wet vacation so we are grateful!

Really cool last night - down into the low 40sF. As a precaution, I brought in the cacti and papayas from the deck and covered the plants on the front porch. Forecast says even colder tonight. To think 2 weeks ago we were sweltering in unseasonable heat. No rain in sight.

No rain in sight may be a blessing since the east has been being threatened so much for the hurricanes. We've been watching your weather back east for several weeks. Our weather is quite abnormal. Not the usual steady sunshine and warm weather. Some days warm and sunny. Others not - overcast and cool. Rain predicted for the weekend - very unusual for us this time of year. The great thing about having hot rainless days is that once you've weeded the garden you are done for the summer. This summer with rain off and on I've weeded my garden constantly. I expect a new crop after this coming weekend.:D
