That's a weird article. To quote just one sentence:
Any time one citizen receives better treatment than another, for any reason, the scales of justice in government become imbalanced.
Erm, no. Criminals are treated better than non-criminals. People with million dollar lawyers do better than those with public defenders. People with a better understanding of the law do better than those not educated in the process. As I've said previously, law is a representation of the society it exists in. It's not perfect, but perfection does not exist (which the article recognizes too).
At the same time, there will be mistakes made, bad people will get away with crimes, and some will avoid prosecution altogether. We must accept that it's our duty to make the law as fair as possible, to punish those corrupting the system, and weed out the bad apples. But you will never, ever - anywhere in the world - find a completely unbiased and fair justice system. Heck, we have laws in the UK that don't exist in the US at all - is it fair that a US citizen be held to them? Of course!
The article then drifts away on a "
only Jesus is qualified to serve as the perfect judge" which is, frankly, ridiculous. Not everyone believes in the Christian faith, so by default this is a half-assed allusion. Our justice system must rule over ALL religions and faiths.
I think his wealth has great influence in America. He owns some very influential projects. World internet, "X", and electric cars are extremely important. What his world views are influences a lot of people. I would even say he one of the most influential people of our time.
We could debate the man for some time, but he has no role to play in deciding what our society does. I accept his money will help him buy influence, but I see no reason to think he'd do it for anything other than selfish reasons.
That' not my opinion. He's very intelligent. More than I am and I'm not afraid to admit it.
And by the way, he's not impossibly rich, he is rich, period.
We could quibble over what "impossibly rich" means, but when someone can buy Twitter for 44bn, and then paid himself 46bn from Tesla, then I'm going to say that's impossibly rich. There's extreme danger in anyone having as much influence as he has, imo.
Watch out. There's a poster here who had my whole thread deleted because it was about the precious, precocious, Elon Musk.
I honestly don't know who that is, but why would Musk be given protection?
And finally, the first appearances in court for some of the rioters was today. Nice folk these - one of them took the opportunity to steal wine, another started crying. Most were remanded, and a 17 year old got bail. Let's drop the hammer on them.
