Climate change reaching unprecedented levels as records tumble

There is little doubt that the climate IS changing.....as it has done many times over the centuries. The problem NOW is that there are billions of people living in low lying coastal areas, in major population centers/cities, that are at increasing risk IF the predictions of rising oceans, etc., come true. Thousands of years ago, the people could simply fold their tents, and move to more favorable areas. That option no longer exists, and IF the oceans DO rise, those people will lose everything they own, and trillions of dollars of urban development, etc., will be abandoned.

There is little chance that those of us living today will be affected, but those living in the next century, and beyond, may be faced with tragic issues we can only imagine. Even if all the fossil fuel use, etc., was ceased today, the existing pollutants would continue to cause the climate to warm for decades. We are well into the "tipping point" where the damage has already been done.
The problem is, there are no stats and science to backup what they are saying. And we were told the world was ending after peak oil in the 70's. Funny how oil never peaked. More pumped now than ever before. The 90's and another -the sky is falling- proved more lies. Never had ocean levels rise. Not a mm of rise. The current fear is temp records. Well temps taken in the middle of cities are notoriously incorrect. Way higher than real temps. Concrete, steel, rock, windows etc either absorb or reflect the heat.

My parents living in Canada used to spend the summers at their farm. From about June to end of Aug they would spend it in the country.
Where they lived, and I will give details as it serves in this situation. Transcona in Winnipeg would be 32-36 C and even hit 40C with the humidity some days in the summer. Their farm in Cooks Creek (about 20 min drive) never hit 32 ever. The farm has been in our family since 1870's. My parents, grandparents, and they said the GG always spent summers there. And it had no ac.

So all these records broken in summer in the center of Chicago, Phoenix, London, wherever are to be taken with a grain of salt to be sure.

As well the news is somehow not covering nightime low records that are being broken. See the next post.

I'm not a "Climate Expert", but I do pay attention to the predictions of those whose career is devoted to this subject. I am not optimistic about the future weather conditions. Between a warming climate, and overpopulation, I think humanity is headed for disaster.

According to most of the "expert" predictions, if the Greenland ice were to melt, the oceans would rise by 15 to 20 feet. If Antarctica became ice free, the rise would exceed 200 feet. Such a rise would likely take centuries.....nothing that those of us living today would experience.

Personally, I think Overpopulation will be the "Crisis" long before the Climate. A few years ago, a study from the UN placed the sustainable global population at about 6 billion. We are already well over 7 billion, with between 9 to 12 billion predicted by the end of this century, As those numbers rise, with technology making human labor more obsolete, I see a huge increase in poverty, which will result in human conflict that will pit neighborhoods against neighborhoods. and create a period of chaos and loss of life unlike anything the world has ever seen.....and that could occur as early as the latter years of this century.

That would be true if not for the fact that almost all countries are at below replacement rate. Avg 1.3 per family. We are and have passed peak population. Add in a 5 -15 above avg death rate in the world, and by 2050 at the current rate we will be at 5 billion. Some statisticians say we were never even close to 7 billion.

People aren't having kids anymore either.

Greenland was green when the Vikings arrived and made settlements there .
The land was indeed green when they landed—and stayed that way for several centuries until natural variations in the planet's climate cooled the world's largest island by 4 degrees Celsius. Years of such cool summers doomed the Greenland Norse, and their outpost froze to death by 1500.
Can you say "normal variations?" I think you can.

It is true that families are having fewer children in places like the US and Europe, in recent years....due to the economy making it harder for working people to afford children. However, that is not the case in the poorer nations. Also, that is not true for those living off Government Subsidies where children are almost a "pay raise". A few years ago, China had to institute a "one child" policy as their growth was becoming unsustainable.

The crime and miserable economies in Central/South America, and Africa are primary reasons why illegal immigration is becoming a major problem.

Here's a reputable site that tracks global population, and many other statistics. If you have a reputable source that supports your "opinion", I would be interested in viewing it.

Australia is already the hottest, driest continent on the planet. The interior is mostly desert or semi desert. With the natural el Nino cycle beginning now, we are already facing a Summer of disaster - the fire season has already begun and heavy rain in other areas is producing flooding. Our resources to handle such emergencies are being stretched to the limit. Equipment and volunteers are in short supply because the extent of the twin emergencies is much greater than in past years.

A decade of inaction on emissions reduction by governments and continuing reliance on fossil fuels has not helped. On the other hand, roof top solar electricity generation is widespread.
One thing I have continually thought about doing is to tour Australia’s outback with a very experienced guide. I have never mentioned this to my wife, but she knows I have also wanted to go on a safari in Africa just to shoot pictures of animals, plants, scenery and people, especially tribes.

I have asked numerous people to go along, but haven’t had any takers.

Where do these notions come from?

Countries where this was addressed with cheap child care, parental subsidies far larger than those in the U.S., and on and on are still experiencing accelerating decline in births.

Even "poorer nations" where birth rates are higher are now experiencing an even higher acceleration in the decline in births.

All indicators point to one overriding factor: the conscious choice to prevent childbirth through infertility drugs and abortion.

There is a bit of a problem here. The distances you would need to cover are immense and the scenery gets very monotonous if travelling by road. There is a small airline out of Sydney (Bankstown airport) that does tours by air that will take you to the more remote places touching down several times each day.

Not sure that they are still in business but if you would like to know more try searching for Heron Airlines Bankstown.

I know the outback encompasses a huge area and I never intend walking it, except maybe to take small hikes with the guide as a lead. I would like to see the different animals, birds, flowers, etc. Have you ever heard of any gold being found in the outback?

I spoke with a fellow here that lived near me at the time and he had taken a tour of the outback. He said he was able to kill a crocodile, but he didn’t even have a picture of it, so I wasn’t able to verify that statement. He said he carried a 7mm Weatherby rifle. I thought maybe a hunter would need something heavier and more powerful.

How long do trips usually last? Do they sleep on the ground overnight? Are there any tribes in the outback?

All reptiles, including snakes and crocs, are protected species.

How long do trips last? How long is a piece of string?

A coach trip might last about 10 - 14 days. Some of them do require sleeping in tents. I did one of these in a coach with 43 adolescent girls. 😱 We went from Sydney to Alice Springs (and back again via South Australia and the Riverina region). Later as a senior, Hubby and I took several outback coach tours and we slept in motels each night.

My days of taking these kind of holidays are long over, so my experience may count for not much.
Travel agents are helpful but the tours are not cheap.

People will move, the mountains will flatten out, stuff will rebuild. Maybe a large part of the overpopulation will do
what is natural. Most likely many sea port / Shores of the past 100,000,000 have been flooded out. betting the Continental
Shelf were lines in the past.

Not so many born to poor / sexy people. . The child labor unneeded as ai happens. That's most likely a good thing.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
And may rain on a tin roof lull you to sleep at night.

When the Ice is gone AC will have to do. Maybe Nuke Ice Makers at the S. Pole instead of weapons.

How far south in N.A. were the Ice - Bing ..... Uh, Mo. - Ohio. Thas a lot o crushed ice! Think Oh a lot of Buffalo and Seal Skin jackets.

Constant Wood & Coal heating fires. Thick clouds of it. More ice melts. Every Lb. of Ice Melt absorbs 144 BTU. Freeze one lb of ice releases 144 BTU. So melting ice cools, freezing ice warms. Simple enjoy the ride. Adapt and bask under shady umbrella. ?- Billionaire's will be made and lost. The Smokies, Allegany's, Appellation's, Rockies flatter. No need to ski, snowboard, Winter trek, build igloos. A Water World again.
Many Wind Surf to S. Pole to watch Ice Cubes in progress there.

Sorry, science has proven that climate change is real, and the direct cause is fossil fuel usage on a massive scale. This occurred in approximately 100+ years, not in tens of thousands of years, as with normal patterns. There is overwhelming scientific proof of this, and no proof that the current climate change is due to normal variations. The ship has sailed on this question.

What is wrong with going on your own? On safari, you will have an experienced guide and will be well cared for. The last thing you need when observing wild life is someone chattering.

Repeating extreme hyperbole doesn't make it true. In fact:
The effect of climate change on glacial and interglacial cycles is still being studied.

Although long-term temperature fluctuation and warming and cooling cycles are normal throughout history, the high levels of carbon dioxide could make things look even more extreme this time. In fact, some scientists are studying whether there is evidence to suggest global warming is changing the patterns of freeze in the cycle, per a statement by the University of Michigan.
Right now, as detailed in the statement by the University of Michigan, scientists are still trying to learn exactly how the ice age will react to higher carbon dioxide levels.
It’s True That We're Still in an Ice Age — but Things Aren't How They Used to Be

But let's grant this paranoia fueled by corporate interests aligned with globalist authoritarian regimes attempting to bring about an era of neofeudalism.

What are you proposing to sacrifice yourself? No, not ask everyone else to sacrifice, not more NIMBYism. What are you going to give up where it will make any difference assuming your own crazy figures, projections, and apocalyptic visions?

Let's start by banning the sale of personal vehicles that get less than 40 MPG, right after banning EV sales. It's well established that the environmental and energy detriments of an EV economy would absorb resources that do not exist. They only work at all right now because the tiny fraction of EVs the rich keep as toys isn't large enough to crash the grid. Parasitic, but not enough to bring the house of cards down.

Second, make extreme cuts in the lighting used in urban areas at night. Cut street lighting by 50%. Cut building lighting by 75%.

Third, ban all use of air conditioning in buildings and vehicles.

Fourth cut back on the military, in particular any participation or weapons supply of regime change interventions. No more policing of the shipping lanes.

Fifth, eliminate nearly all long-distance shipping of bulk manufactured goods, raw materials, and fuels. Produce near the point of use.

Sixth, dramatically restrict air travel. This is incredibly inefficient use of energy.

I'm sure there are additional energy sinks we can cut as well. Probably a lot related to excess mass agricultural production to create export goods. In particular in areas where we shouldn't be doing it, like most of California. This helps the water situation as well, so win-win.

Let's get rid of all heat while we're at it, wood burning fireplaces included.
Or would that be too uncomfortable during Michigan winters?
Well there is no doubt it should be more efficient.

But at least it isn't used to make it comfortable to sit in traffic, run on treadmills indoors, and build in the desert and tropical swamp.

Over half the Sky was red-orange ablaze at sunset last night. Almost blinding driving west at it.
Human’s most likely need to build huge Ice making freezers in Antartica. Paint everything white. White parking lots instead of Black, roads too and make light colored Cool/ade, all beaches white sand. I know it sounds hard to do but good paying jobs too.

Um, I beg to differ. Heat is also used to make it comfortable to sit in traffic and run on treadmills indoors. Also makes it possible to build (and survive) in areas where temperatures hit otherwise uninhabitable low temperatures every winter.
