How are you today?

There is a thread for introductions; click-> here if you would like to introduce yourself to the group, then click where it says "Post Thread". But that's optional. I only mention it because when I joined, I didn't know about it, and just started posting here and there - and that's okay too - whatever you decide. Anyway, I hope you enjoy Senior Forums.
Thank you for that information. (y)

@Georgiagranny, love the explanation of "happy as a clam" - makes a lot more sense now.

With one good turn deserving another, yesterday I looked up the origins of "no holds barred." Turns out it comes from wrestling where certain holds are usually restricted or forbidden (barred) for safety reasons.

"No holds barred" came to apply all manner of situations in which there are no restrictions or limitation.

It's a lovely sunny and cool morning. My chores are mostly done, and I'm just as happy as a clam today.

Happy as a clam? How happy are clams? I gotta Google that.

Okay, according to Google (AI):

The phrase "as happy as a clam" is a shortened version of the 19th-century expression "happy as a clam at high water". The origin lies in the safety and security clams feel at high tide, when the water protects them from predators like humans and birds who would dig them up at low tide. The idiom originated in the Northeastern United States around the 1830s and became widely known by the 1840s.
Oh so, you could also say "miserable as a clam at low tide"! Well, today, I felt a bit like that grumpy clam because my cold won't go away.

Hopefully tomorrow there'll be a high tide and I will feel as happy as a clam! That clam thingy works doesn't it :)

Not to bad thanks …..got my iPad back ..( they posted it to me for free ) but it’s life is limited ….i suppose it’s not to bad I bought it 3 years ago , and found with previous ones I’ve had , they start giving a few issues after 3 years old , so I pass then onto the grandkids.

Its got hardware issues that will cost almost as much to repair as buying a new one ,which I’ll look at when the new ones released in Australia which is normally late Oct

I'm so truly sorry folks. Due to personal reasons, I've been off for a while, but I always think of you. I hope all of you are doing well. This evening? I got a chance to relax a bit and now I'm focusing on the crickets in our yard. Crickets here are rare as we're in the city's burbs. Their sound is not only mesmerizing but reminds me a lot of our camping days in the past. Thank you so much for everything and Peppermint? I'll speak with you as soon as I can. With love and my utmost respect to you all. Paulina

Thank you for this lovely post Paulina. I hope things are looking up for you. I am hearing crickets right now...faintly, off in the distance it seems.

How am I? It's too early to tell. Probably fine.

It's supposed to be a cool day, not even reaching 80. Yay!

DD, DSIL and DGD left for the hospital around 4, I think. DGD's surgery was supposed to be at 5:30. I was busy "pounding my ear," as my dad used to say, and didn't hear them leave. Phone reception at the hospital isn't good so I don't expect to hear anything until maybe around noon.

73rd Birthday today. Retired now for 12 years. I like it. :)

I was thinking this morning that we all had a personality adjustment and change when we started using computers/typing to talk with one another. Knowing that millions of people will see your message/social media. The person I was before the internet has changed to be a person that is talking to possibly thousands of people...and we all know it. Has that changed your personality? It has mine. Think about talking with people before the internet. Why is it so different now? I might have to ask AI!

I do find myself open yet a bit more reserved online than with friends in person. Even more so these past 5-7 years as I don't want to step over a line with someone online as it seems it can not be resolved like it can be when the person sees your facial expressions and hears your voice. It's a nice communication avenue but the intimacy of a true friendship is lacking. A person in a fowl mood can read your purest post and see it
so badly. I try to keep that in mind all the time.

I was feeling fine today until I read through this thread. It isn't that I don't identify with all the complaints of aches, pains, and general old age discontentment, it was the comment about hacking up mucous that really took away the youthful spark I was feeling this morning. I suppose accepting the reality of the impending fall season with mucous galore, will make my hubs assessment of his morning bowel movement, lesser of a buzz kill.

All in all, I am having a good morning and feeling a bit sassy.

Yes, a bit sassy. :) You DO know how propaganda spreads...? :)

Perhaps, I am clueless on the spreading of propaganda :poop: here on SF. Any enlightenment 😇 would be appreciated.
i think when we cherry pick a subject that pushes our button, then we comment/complain about it. That is how propaganda spreads. Keep mentioning mucus, and we too are affected. It makes me feel a little sick. Now this thread is tainted with mucus. :). I am being sarcastic and a bit finicky, but the more something is being mentioned, people tend to believe it. I.e..>the mucus thread. :)

Got the flowers watered, did a few little household chores and made some soup. Feeling just fine!

Did I mention the cheeseburger soup recipe the other day? Well. That's the soup I made, following the recipe exactly. It's good but sure doesn't taste like any cheeseburger I've ever eaten. Anyway, it's...um...hearty so a good choice because it's sorta cool today. I'll make it again in the winter.

I am good today. I sat outside for a time while the kitchen floor dried. I'm over due for a new kitchen floor. Seems wood is all the rage but I think I want to replace the old vinyl with good quality new vinyl. This floor is white patterned and has lasted 34 years. It still looks good but the finish has worn off in spots like under the table and so it collects dirt and looks terrible until I mop.
