Good morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 70,sun shining with a breeze as I walked around building once before breakfast
I got a text yesterday Best Buy Geek Squad guy will be delivering my new TV between 8-11am, can't wait and he'll take away my 10 yr old TV as well
The rest of my day take another walk going to be a sunny ,humid day temps in mid 80's,read NYT

Rain gradually creeping in with a cold front, then training over us for a couple of days. At least I got some grass mowed yesterday and charged my mower from sunlight. I'll get more mowing done yet this morning through Noon and then pack it in for a few days.

Early this afternoon I'll head in for some blood work prior to a doctor appointment Monday.

I'm hoping this rain is a clean one.

This is the hood of a black car that was just washed by the dealer late Monday afternoon. Can you say Canadian carbon emissions due to wildfires? I'll bet you can!

Black Car Wildfire Smoke.jpg

Come on, get it together. I don't know why western North America isn't doing regular controlled burns and maintaining firebreaks.

It is cloudy here and some will be from the Sahara dust coming from Africa. It should help with the hurricanes or tropical storms preventing them from forming in the Atlantic near Florida. However, they stop coming this way sometime in August and through October. That is what the weather experts are saying.

@Pepper I hope you can get some sun soon. Too bad about the smoke from Canada.

It's 4pm...I decided to go to the bank after all... in the next town. I was astonished at how busy the town and traffic was today, no real reason for it...
However bear in mind this branch of my bank which is the only one left open in a 25 mile radius is due to close it's doors for good in 4 days , had no one serving at the desk when I went in..no teller at all.. . An assistant who was dealing with a queue of enquirers at the ATM told me.. I'd have to come back in an hour because he's gone for his break !:oops: what ??> a few days left to remain open, and you can't ensure there's tellers behind the counter !!

..anyway I went off and had a little look around the Mall... and while looking in a ladies store, I saw a Navy Blue lined crop dress jacket... I tried it on and it looked really nice, but as I went to put it back on the rail I thought..''Holly have a word with yourself '.. you've just been through hell and back, you don't drink, you don't smoke.. celebrate the Divorce... FGS buy yourself a damn jacket .... so I did...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

WE used to get our cars filthy like that when it rained in Spain, they called it Sahara Rain, but being so near to the beaches, and to the coast of Africa, it whipped up all the sand in the rain... sometimes it was red, and it stained all our white verandahs and balustrades...

Having taken the car in for service, I got an email from the dealership offering to buy the car. No details, but an error entering its mileage seems to have propagated to the marketing database.

I called the service writer to confirm that he'd corrected this in his system after I caught it back on Monday. He says it shows the right value, so I suppose with time this will update the other database. Hah.

A factor of 10 in mileage makes a lot of difference when a car is appraised. :ROFLMAO:

I tell you our high streets ( this is what we Brits call the town centres where all the stores and malls are )>.. are morphing into just restaurants , coffee shops, nails bars, charity shops , and llittle else.. The supermarkets are desperate for people to shop online, just another way of the country going cashless..

I drove into the supermarket ( Sainsbury) Underground car park today. This store has 3 floors . a stand alone Big Box supermarket, not inside a Mall.
All the way down the ramp there's huge banners saying '' Your nearest store is in your home ''

After parking, I go to take the lift up to the store.. the call button isn't working, altho' the lift itself is working but it can't be called from the Basement .. ..(no sign to say it's out of order).. I take 2 escalators up to the food department.. and inform security the lift is not working from the Underground car park.. he said the manager knows.. I think , why no sign then...

I continue shopping ..no fresh produce to speak of on the shelves.... and lots of basic grocery items missing

To exit the car park, we have to scan our till receipts at a parking machine before returning to our car .. so with my trolley (cart).. I get the lift down 2 floors to the underground car park.. only to find there is NO parking machine to scan my receipt... I turn to get the lift back up because I have the trolley ... but ...yes you got it.. I couldn't go back up because the call button doesn't work, even tho' I could see the lift was there , the doors were closed and the button couldn't open them

I had to load my car.. and take 2 escalators back up to the first floor of the store to find the one and only pay machine..

Absolute madness.. but they're making it as difficult as possible, so people will shop from home...

Sorry you had to deal with the indifference of the bank assistant, @hollydolly ! I liked that you treated yourself to the jacket! You deserve it. Would love to see a photo of it (with you in it, of course!).

I won't be wearing it for a while, it's fully lined, Jaquard , so quite thick.... this is it... I got the Navy one, altho' I liked the black on.. they tell you never wear black against your face when you're older.. so I got the navy blue...

Not to get too off-topic here, but:

This is how economies die. Not with a bang, but with people shining each other's shoes and demanding to be given a "living wage" for it.

SunJoe got charged enough to finish the monkey grass. Yay. He's back on the charger now so that next time I need him, he'll be ready to go.

The rain is supposed to start in about an hour and rain the rest of the day. This time it even shows up on radar.

DD and I visited the Aisle of Shame at Aldi and got the cherry pitter. DGD is leaving in the morning to go to a concert in Colorado and won't be back until Sunday. Guess that means I get to pit the !@#$%^&* cherries. But wait! I can't make cherry scones for her because she's leaving at 3:45 in the morning. Sigh.

well the Uk is going to hell in a hand cart...
The US is right there with you...misery ❤️ company!

I prefer the middle aisle in Lidl... it's a very similar store to Aldi, German owned like Aldi... but with more stores than Aldi... and with better quality food.. and or more of a variety... but with the same format as Aldi.. and their middle Aisle is called Middle of Lidl... ...much better than Aldi Aisle of Shame... :ROFLMAO:

My wife is a fabulous cook and takes great care of me, like preparing organic raw veggies for snacking

But I also have some favorite stuff that I sneak in from time to time, like Salsa with Quinoa; or a tomato soup with dried
onions, lemon juice, eggs or Hamburger meat, and some dried spices like Cayenne peppers, cilantro, basil leaves, and so on.

Pumpernickel bread imported from Germany with margarine and Brie cheese always makes my mouth watery;
and a blueberry shake with fat-free milk and some low-fat Greek yogurt not only taste great but is also very healthy.

That's shocking, HD. Our grocery stores are still crowded with patrons doing their own shopping. I sure hope it stays that way...

Oh most of ours still are tbh... and thank God for Home shopping because this little Island has become so overcrowded that without home shopping many suprermarkets would have impossibly long queues at checkouts,.. not to mention not enough car parking space.

However Sainsbury which is one of the higher chain supermarkets, seems to be losing the fight willingly..to stay on the high street... I think they've decided that Discount supermarkets Aldi, Lidl.. and the mighty Tesco..can have it... so they're making in some of their stores it as uncomfortable as they can for the customer.. at least that's how it seems..
