Am really envious of you getting to meet up with friends to a place ya'll have been going to for years! We moved away from our last digs in Texas, where our friends are close by. Missing those friends was one reason for deciding to put our house up for sale, here in beautiful Tucson, and move back to my DH's home state of Texas.

I too want to go have brunch or lunch with my buds and hang out in a bar for the afternoon ;) 🤣.
I always tell DH we are all going "shopping". All DH knows is "shopping" makes me very happy!
I started calling it Stitch & Bitch, bring needlework and gossip. SO bartended and arranged returns to home. Needlework? I do not recall seeing any but we still talk to each other across number of states.

we don't have canned cheese either..I can't even imagine what that looks like
You don't want to know. My dad only used it for fishing also. Is disgusting and super processed, loaded with both saturated fats and salt. In AUS it is called "Kraft Cheese". A block of it has the feeling of soft rubber. 32 ounce block is anywhere from $9.75 to $12.00 a block. It needs a health warning label on it. 🤣

A strange day of reminiscing. First off, I’m basically the family back sheep who moved away and rarely went back to visit and haven’t been since my mother died. A cousin who I hadn’t seen or corresponded with in over a decade called to say that one of our cousins had died. He was 90 was it wasn’t unexpected. There’re slide shows from the funeral parlour so I watched those and found others who had passed. It was a strange evening, which triggered some memories. Honestly, I’ve been away from there for 50 years so it wasn’t sad.

Today, I have decided, is a day of pottering around and taking a break before the rundown to the weekend when I will be out and visiting.

January has gone by so quickly but, it has been a nice few weeks despite the cold. It's 11.12 am and my only plan is to tidy up and pop to the shop later :)

Morning folks....it is 33F outside and that is to be the high for
today .....Maybe the last of the snow will melt away, it actually
briefly snowed last eve about 6 or 7pm....got to get squared
away for the social worker to visit today.....Hope this is not
the visit for financial talk....ah well what will be is it....catch
you later on....;):coffee::alien:

Well it's just past noon, it's raining steadily....I have to go out shortly to take 2 bags of stuff to the Charity shop as a donation. I wanted to get it done now, because after my surgery tomorrow morning it will be weeks before I can lift anything heavy... then I have one box of stuf belonging to estranged husband.. going to the recycle centre on the way...

Got a mail from my lawyer.. soon2Bex's lawyers are not giving up... they continue to insist my income is twice what it really is.. in an effort to get the maintenance down for their client... ..it makes me sick because not only is he a high earner, but so is his side piece who he has living with him..... so yet again I had to send proof of my income.. *sigh*

Right, gotta go... laters folks, have a good day...

I'm up after sleeping like a baby. I cheated, though, and took a benadryl before bed last night. Sometimes you do what you gotta do.

It might be a little warmer today. They're telling us that the worst of the cold is done. For now.

When DD gets home from her work-from-the-office day, we're going Walmarting. Meanwhile, there's laundry to do.

@hollydolly I love that some of his stuff is going to the recycling center.

Surprise this morning. Just about to get first coffee of the day when there was a knock at the door. The plumber had come to install the new boiler. He had hoped to do the work on Friday or Saturday, but there is a bad storm forecast and as it's an external boiler, he wanted to do it today and hadn't been able to contact me.

This meant turning off the water so no showers, but we quickly collected up containers to save some water. Then it was running around, turning off radiators etc... Anyway, they did a good job of taking out the old leaking boiler and installing a new one - about 4 hours work including tidying up. The boiler seems to be running nicely and comes with a 10 year warranty.

I'm sick. I'm very sick. This past Monday son/grandson came over. Grandson broke out sick, home from school for days. His mother too. It is Type A Flu they have. I have been gifted with it. So far, my son ok, has been taking care of them. I will be taking care of me today. Hope son doesn't get sick.

Oh, I feel awful

On my early morning walk at 7am,it felt 'balmy' outside, temp was 20 compared to the last couple of days when temps were in single digits. I walked around the building one time before breakfast

You know, it was far easier than I imagined... funny how I felt sentimental about it when it was in the house, but when I took it to the waste site.. I threw it away like it belonged to a stranger..didn't give a flying fluff..

I took the other 2 big bags to the donation site.. and then the rain became torrential.. I mean.. Huge puddles in minutes literally....I stopped off at the supermarket just to get the last few little things I need before I'm housebound, and despite having my wax coat on with the hood, I still got drenched just going 50 feet from the car to the shop door.. , and coming home through the country lanes was really quite scary because of the floods, and being unable to see properly...

Anyway this time tomorrow I should be coming out of surgery.. *yikes*... dreading the after pain...

I bet unloading his stuff was freeing, @hollydoIly. Yay for you!

This time tomorrow, we'll all be thinking positive thoughts for you, and this time next week, you'll be well on your way to mending and the surgery (and associated pain, if any), will be just a bad memory.
oh there's no question about the Post OP pain, apparently the best scenario will be that it will cease after 6 weeks, but at my age .. apparently it can go on for months... :(

Check engine light came on in my car so I'm at the dealership at 1:20pm today. Glad they could get me in at least.

Car seems to be running OK. I have about 93 thousand miles on it only but it's getting up in age.

Last check engine light was an easy fix. Don't know if this one will be.

That is really good news.
