How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I went with SO to his MRI. Car time is always chat time. But I caught a bad chill in the parking lot. This cold must have an end!
I sent Cowboy Candy and hot sauce to a neighbor. Now he wants the recipes. I just make him a jar as I have Jalapenos in the fridge and some meanies in the freezer.
The door to the redone bathroom need some TLC before they get hung. After all, the house is pushing eight years.
It is miserably cold and Starlings are flocking. ??? SO ordered some dried worms for the couple who nisted last year and seems to be back.
A friend wants to chitchat but it will be a veiled vent about how kids and grandkidds are treating her. And she is unfortunately right.
Today is SO's Friday!

@Pepper, I hope you're back in the pink very soon. The flu bug has bitten almost everyone I know this winter and it's no fun. (I've managed to dodge it so far.) Please take care and get to the doctor if your symptoms are bad. People still die from the flu and our age group is particularly vulnerable.

@hollydolly, wishing you a speedy recovery. You'll be in my thoughts tomorrow.

I'm sick. I'm very sick. This past Monday son/grandson came over. Grandson broke out sick, home from school for days. His mother too. It is Type A Flu they have. I have been gifted with it. So far, my son ok, has been taking care of them. I will be taking care of me today. Hope son doesn't get sick.

Oh, I feel awful
Oh no! Rest, my friend. I hope it runs through you quickly.

You know, it was far easier than I imagined... funny how I felt sentimental about it when it was in the house, but when I took it to the waste site.. I threw it away like it belonged to a stranger..didn't give a flying fluff..

I took the other 2 big bags to the donation site.. and then the rain became torrential.. I mean.. Huge puddles in minutes literally....I stopped off at the supermarket just to get the last few little things I need before I'm housebound, and despite having my wax coat on with the hood, I still got drenched just going 50 feet from the car to the shop door.. , and coming home through the country lanes was really quite scary because of the floods, and being unable to see properly...

Anyway this time tomorrow I should be coming out of surgery.. *yikes*... dreading the after pain...
This time tomorrow you'll be done! Then recovery and it will be in the past. I hope the pain subsides on the quick side!

I've just been cleaning up the house... just in case I don't make it through... I don't want anyone thinking I'm a slut .....😌
LOL!! I remember my mother and grandmothers telling me over and over again not to pin a broken bra or slip strap but to mend them right away in case I was in an accident...

I make sure that the out-of-the-way spots in The Hovel are squeaky clean, just in case. (The dusting...that's a whole nuther story.)

Oh I've dusted, vacc'ed , washed the floors, and put everything away...only thing left to do is clean up after I've had dinner tonight, and then clean down the bathroom after I've had a shower...

I'm not allowed to eat anything after midnight..and only a sip of water or 2... before 6.30.... I'm not allowed anything after 6.30am.... so I'm hoping they don't keep me waiting for the OP for hours, or I'll die of thirst

Good morning, all. Thursday, Jan 23 already.

DH & I worked together, took our time and put all the Christmas decorations away over the last three days. Must admit, parts of the house look naked without their Christmas clothes.

Washing machine is working its laundry magic this morning and I'll start making the pea soup after breakfast.

All our very best wishes from the Lightning clan...

By eleven o'clock this morning I was convinced that I wouldn't be required at work. No sooner had I stepped into the shower than the phone rang. My lady passed me my phone: "You choose your moments," I said. "You're in the shower," came the reply. "How did you know?" I asked. "You've left your phone on visual," a female voice said. Now I don't even know if such function exists, given that phones can do all but pick the correct lottery numbers, but the plausible way she said it, had me wondering. ""Let me call you back," I suggested.

Phoning back I was asked to put on my collar and tie to go and see one of the regular customer's subsidiary to check out their freight along with time expectation, which means, what time can we collect? All in all it was an assessment of a new account. Following the meeting there I phoned head office, gave them all the details and they duly dispatched a sales fellow.

That meeting was rather fortunate in that nearby is one of the fabric shops my wife uses regularly and, they had the fabric in that she's been waiting for. More damage to my wealth, but I can't complain, new summer trousers in the pipeline.

All in all the day has gone from boringly quiet to not enough time to breathe. What happened? Cottage pie was on the menu this evening but my lady wisely got a couple of meals out of the freezer. There's only the two of us but we always cook for four. It covers eventualities like today. Cottage pie tomorrow, hopefully, work have already booked me for a nine o'clock start. Now then, coffee!

Hope ya'll get better quickly and without complications. 🤕
Flu is nothing to mess around with, especially if you are vomiting as well as have the trots.
Dehydration sneaks in fast; so please stay well hydrated if you can keep anything down?

Had the flu one time, in 1979; I was 24. Literally thought I would die, ended up in ER dehydrated.
I get a flu shot every year so I never get the flu again.

Had this "pneumonia-like" lung infection when I was 42; they couldn't figure out what it was, and I was hospitalized, put into isolation for four days. MySATs were in the low 90s and it exhausted me.
I never want another respiratory infection or virus again, I was only 42.
It was such an awful experience, I get a pneumonia shot whenever it is offered.

Holly, the night before I had my knee surgery, 21 yrs I too wasn't allowed to eat any solid food just sips of water. When I was in recovery room,a nurse gave me ice chips which helped
I'll be thinking/ praying for you every night, take care Sue

Never mind. I'll fold the clothes myself. But...I won't forget that I had to do it myself ;)
You know that old adage: Men don't 'see' things that need attending to? It pays dividends to just pick it up, switch it off, clear it up. In the kitchen was a basket of damp washing, I know that if there's delicate items or simply just a few items, we use an expandable airing rack rather than the tumble drier. Tonight that damp washing was arranged on the airing rack and the three shirts hung from the side of the rack with the help of a clothes hanger in each shirt.
"Oh you're such a dear," she will say, with a smile. Tomorrow I will get one of my favourite desserts after we have eaten our meal and if I'm really lucky, there might be enough for seconds.

My internet went out for a short time and I tried to take care of it using the trouble shooting feature on Verizon. Last time I used it...it was easy and fixed the issue quickly. This time, not so much. The website has changed and once I finally found how to get to the troubleshooting feature and did what was required, Verizon ads for various things kept popping up instead of loading the proper page. I tried three times. Finally, I just called. There was no wait time and I found out that their AI can take care of it...maybe. She kept telling me to hold on while she checked but in the meantime, I realized that I was back online.

I napped this morning and watched T.V. I'm feeling a little bit of fluttering in my chest (mild A-fib), so am going to relax and watch more TV. My son and I are supposed to have a talk this evening, but I may reschedule that.

Had more biscuits for breakfast; they are wonderful when split open, laid flat with butter on top then broiled under the broiler for 3-4 minutes.
I finished re- caulking the one kitchen counter/wall joint (houses settle a bit) and put new caulking on the surround of the main bath; went and picked up paint to repaint the outside of the door that leads from garage into the house, will do a first coat on that tomorrow.

Put the nice landscape privacy screen on FB Marketplace; ordered large rugs for three rooms, bought a new drop front desk but that won't arrive for four weeks. Need to list 1901 roll top desk with consignment shop tomorrow. Had dinner out - my favorite green corn tamales and a margarita, chips and salsa. Made DH a grilled cheese sandwich and clam chowder when I got home at 5. Weather under 60 all day and breezy. New bird feeders came, seed came, mixed seed and set out new feeders. Now I have four bird feeders plus two hummy feeders.

Left: Why do my pups insist on always keeping me company in the bathroom? Can't I have some privacy? It seems they are glued-on to me.
Right: Wrapping prescription medication in Hamburger meat ensures that my senior guy will swallow it eagerly. I am praying that he will stay with me for another year. When I adopted him at 1 1/2 years, two owners had already surrendered him because they couldn't handle him: he was too strong headed. But with firm leadership, he became the dog of my dreams. I can no longer imagine a life without Ross. He is irreplaceable.

My 1987 Ford F150 P/U with a 8-foot bed comes in handy for pruning high Palm Tree fronds. --- Together with our move-on camper, that we still have, we took this P/U to go camping from Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, to Key West in Florida, and all the way up to Halifax in Nova Scotia. We even drove up to Pikes Peak in Colorado. At over 14,000 feet, it is maybe the highest road aside from those in the Himalayas. We did all those camping trips when the children were still kids. Gas in those days was cheap; but at 13 mpg, a long trip still costs us over $1K in gasoline. Nowadays it would be unaffordable.

Left: Palm trees fronds covered our pet cemetery (for over a dozen dogs and assorted pets.) After my tree pruning, the cemetery is again visible.
Right: I will have to hire someone to shred all the garden trash and bring the stuff to the public dump.

It's 2.40am, all's quiet , even the foxes have stopped barking... but I can't sleep.
I've got my hospital bag ready.. no valuables as they tell you.. just my phone in there, washing items , a change of clothes, and sleepwear..

I'd totally forgotten they said I might get there and there will be no bed, and they'l turn me away , until my daughter reminded me tonight.... and it's looking increasingly likely because now the news this evening said that English hospitals have an 80% outbreak of Noravirus currently.. as well as hospitals beds full with Flu sufferers.. ...so I can only wait and see what happens....please god I don't catch Norovirus

The only problem about being awake all night is that I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything... aside from some sips of water just before 6.30am
