How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

sun is out now... but it's very cold.. DD just called in her lunch hour, she was walking the dog, she said it's freezing out !

I have to be at the hospital in about an hour....for my pre-assesement...hopefully I won't be too long..

I woke up around 6:30, decided to go outside for a short walk, the last time I was outside was Sun afternoon., when there was no snow on the ground. I'm tired of being cooped up
I was all bundled up around 6:50 went outside, temp was 19 with a slight breeze which didn't bother me.I walked back and forth on the driveway{which was plowed} by the front door for about 3 min, just to get some fresh air& exercise I'm almost back to normal,I'd say 90% ,I still wear a mask inside just as a precautionary
The rest of my day go to our monthly residential council meeting at 11am, read NYT my book. I may go outside again this afternoon for another short walk. I'm continuing to take out my lunch& dinner orders, eat them in my apt

It is miserably cold out there.
SO rescued some Hollyhocks before it froze by transferring them to pots in the garage. The 100 watt lights bulbs seem to work in the small greenhouse. Happy hour last night with ear muffs and long stemmed wine glasses to keep our hands in the hot tub. Life has its moments.
I have a Canadian phone number calling and calling. Hanging up when I pick up.
I filled cinnamon buns with finely chopped apples/cinnamon/brown sugar. The sugar and fruit juice turned into a layer of caramel. SO should be a happy camper.
Let's make it a good day and find something to remember about it!

I thought that was it but can you use it in the U.S. or @Georgiagranny does your DGS live in a different country?
you can use an opposite drive car in your country, anyone can..only problem is that it makes it difficult to take parking tickets, or pay at Tolls..beause they're on the oppsite side.. also more difficult driving at night because we guide ourselves with the middle lane.. so if your on the opposite side of the car to the middle lane it's far more diffcult and less safe to drive..

This is what happened to many people who migrated to Spain, ..they took their own cars, which were opposite drives... so they had to keep getting out of the car and walking around to the other side when they came to an exit where you have to insert a ticket to get out for example..

Hmm, thanks.

I was stunned at how long this pre-assessment took. I honestly thought it would be like before when I've had surgery and they would just take weight, height, blood pressure... Nope...
First I had to fill in 2 A4 Forms, 10 pages in total... then I had a complete medical including ECG test.... then I was sent downstairs in the hospital to have a Blood test..there was a maive queue so I waited quite a time hthere. In total 2 and a half hours at the hospital..

While I was in there my phone rang, the nurse told me I could answer it.. and it was my Doctor at the GP surgery.. she said she was returning my call, I told her I never rang her... so that was a puzzle... she had to find out why she was given my name by the Secretary. I hope some poor person hasn't been ignored for a Doctors call, because my name was given instead of theirs....

As I got out of my car when I got home, I met with my young neighbour ( 40's) who has Parkinson's.. and uses a walker to balance himself, who was walking to the store.... I told him I was going in for surgery later this month, and he said he would knock occasionally to see if I needed anything...bless his heart... but I told him it's ok, I can use online services..

Then as he walked away my immediate neighbour arrived home.. and I told her the same that I've been told I can't drive for 6 weeks.. or lift anything heavy... and she said... ''Oh you can't be on your own''... ...I said I don't have any choice..lol...

DGS has an extension thingie that reaches across to the left-hand side so that he can, for instance, get mail from his mailbox, use a drive-up ATM, etc. There are no toll roads where we live, but it also could be used to deposit money or use a card at a toll booth.

And yes, it is legal to drive a right-hand drive vehicle in the US. Actually, our mail trucks are right-hand drive.

DD, DGD and I went to Walmart. DGD went off by herself to get makeup and stuff she wanted while I got the things I needed. They also wanted to go to Publix but dropped me off at home while they do that.

I'm watching President Carter's body being moved from the Carter Center to the air force base here to be transported to DC, and I'm teary-eyed. It will be good to eventually return to decency, honesty and selflessness such as he exemplified. It would have been appropriate to have been flown on Air Force One instead of just the US Government jet, North Star.

Interesting day here. Cold for us; heat running non-stop

Having finished reading the course material for re-upping my nursing license, I went online to sign up to take the tests. I won’t bore you with details… shall I just say the password /user ID debacle has me tied up in knots. 😑🙄🤬

Had my hair trimmed. Ate some lunch

Now I’m siting at the vets office, waiting to discuss possible anti-anxiety med for night time use with cat? I hope I don’t sound like a whack job; I can’t be the only pet owner who has an animal that has PTSD from the recent hurricane

Gotta get to the grocery store after his for a few essentials, including last few ingredients needed for bean/ham soup

If your furry creates as much drama when it comes to medication as ours - you my want to discuss compounding medications. It beats stitches.

Welp, it is 24deg now, some sunshine...the guy just finished snow blowing, with help of another friend of mine, she insisted
she come over and help, and she is no spring chicken LOL...anyhoo it is done, now to hope the combo of salt and
sun tomorrow will get the job done... :)

I've got to go to hospital tomorrow.. to have my anaesthesia assesment in readiness for my surgery later this month... so wanted to get the groceries today and not worry about it tomorrow.. ..but going late in the day amid the chock-a-block trafic and in the dark is no fun
Hope all goes well for you during the assessment, and of course, subsequently when your surgery is performed.

Sorry I'm obviously falling behind on posts. This latest cancer treatment makes me want to sleep all the time so I'm not keeping up with SF.

Thanks Llynn, the pre-op assement was today...so that's over with.... there was a few hiccups in my notes which meant they had to email the admissions, and also the surgeon.. to change some things ... so thank goodness the pre-Op assessment was carried out...

The Surgery is about 2 weeks from now

I'm sorry you're getting such a tiredness side effect with this latest treatment , but I appreciate you taking the time to wish me well.. very kind.... 🤗

DS stood in line in the cold this morning with hundreds of others to say his goodbyes to President Carter before the body is flown to Joint Base Andrews and taken to the Capitol to lie in state.
President Carter was likely the single finest, most moral man to ever lead the United States as President. His was a life well lived, as shown by his post White House work with Habitat for Humanity. What a remarkable enduring legacy. Kudos to your son for honoring him in this way. May President Carter RIP.

Not to mention going to a drive through like a bank or fast food outlet.

A good friend bought a right hand drive car over a year ago. We saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was talking about adjusting to it.

He hadn't realize how heavily we rely on lane markers while driving, but sure does now he has to do it on the right side. Also said it was an adjustment to look to his left for the rear view mirror, and he still accidentally turns on the windshield wipers instead of his turn signal. :ROFLMAO:

It's especially tough for him to adapt because he has two vehicles that he uses almost equally. The other is a left hand drive.

..and if it's a manual ..then it's much more difficult.. because you're changing gear with the opposite hand
