I had a strangulated hernia years ago.the pain is intense. I feel for you. had surgery the next day. Just take easy for a couple weeks after surgery. good luck.you will be fine.
my ex husband had that when he was in the Navy.. he was only 21 at the time, so strong and fit, but they kept him in the Naval hopsital for 10 days and then sent him home on sick leave for 3 weeks...
A strangulated hernia is dangerous because the lack of oxygenated blood causes the trapped tissue, often intestine, to die. It's medically known as: necrosis/gangrene. It can lead to several life-threatening consequences: Mercifully my hernia hasn't strangulated and with the surgeon's skill, it will soon be history.
My surgeon, a no nonsense sort of fellow, I took to him immediately, used simple terminology, explaining how poop (his words) must be avoided from getting into the blood stream, which has a much greater chance of happening when the hernia has strangulated. For now though, he reassurred me I will be okay, he got the hernia back in and recommended a stronger truss, which I have since ordered.

I'm sorry you've been dealing with that through your move. 😒

@KSav , I am on my very last nerve with these Asian Lady Beetles so I looked up the product on the link. @hollydolly gave me.

I can buy the product locally.

I also noticed this product kills boxelders. If you’re interested, maybe one of your home DIY stores carries it.

Harris Home Pest Control Asian Lady Beetle & Box Elder Bug Killer - 128oz (1 gallon)
My sister in New Hampshire had those beetles that had a nest under her living room window. I don't know if they ever got rid of them but their routine in the summer was to keep the vacuum next to the window and vacuum them up daily as they came out in droves. 😯

Yes to the vacuuming. This time of year, I vacuum until I am blue in the face. I am trying to get ready for company next week. What I vacuum yesterday morning needs vacuumed again, thanks to the beetles.

This is from a page on Iowa State University’s website:

Life history: Adults typically live 30 to 90 days, but they can live up to three years. Females lay over 1,600 eggs in a lifetime. Wow! Eggs are laid in small masses and kind look like pale footballs. After hatch, the larvae go through four instars before pupating. Larvae are usually black or grey and have orange-red markings on the abdomen. Plus they usually have cool-looking spikes on their backs. ”

Mostly a good guy: multicolored Asian lady beetle

They may be “mostly a good guy”, but they are a flat out nuisance. I would leave them alone if they would stay out of my house, but I am calling around for that Harris Beetle control in the hopes I can find it in town.

@Imogene, I thought I had replied to this yesterday, but now I am not seeing it. I must have gotten confused.

Thank you for that link; I will check it out! Now that I am in an apartment, I am not bothered too much by box elder beetles, but my daughters are both in houses, and I will share the information about that product with them.

I woke up today to a few inches of snow and single-digit temperatures. I'm heading out for some errands anyway, though. I also have lots of work due early next week, so after I get home I will be hunkering down in front of the computer.

I hope everyone's day is getting off to a good start!

Good morning to everyone. It is warm at 66 degrees this morning and no rain in forecast. Thank goodness we had some rain yesterday.

We need to do some housework today and this week as we are expecting some friends on Saturday. We have friends coming over lately and that helps keep our house cleaned.

I hope everyone is feeling well and has a good day.

Hopefully that link is just good research material, and your daughters won’t have to spend money on the product🤠

I tell the folks on the horse forum who live up your way that I tip my hat to them. I tip my hat to you for tolerating that weather. IMHO, it takes a special kind of human to live in that environment, especially when one has life SStack to care for.

My current weather is above average temps for my area, but I will take it after the frigid subzero temps we went through a few weeks back. It is currently 47° and is supposed to reach 69° today. The downside to these high temps so early is that it forces the horses to start to shed their winter hair and we aren’t done with winter yet.

Well we had rain all night, then 2 hours of sun, and now it's raining again.... it's 2.40pm.... and the temps are at 9 deg c ( 48 dg F)

Just cleaned the kitchen.. not that it needs much cleaning..it only takes me 10 minutes, and 5 minutes more to wash the floor...

Waiting for an Amazon delivery... I already had a delivery from Royal Mail earlier this morning...

Apparently we're going to get a lot of sun and dry weather starting Monday so I hope that's true.... 🤞

Good afternoon, my early walk at 6:50am it felt cool temp was 43,but breezy. I only made it to the back driveway and then came back. I haven't gone back out even though its been a partly sunny day
I did some shredding this morning, for exercise this afternoon walked the hallways a couple of times
Tonight at 8pm on BBC America, the 6 part limited series' Kingdom' has ended, which I found fascinating. This episode will show viewers the behind the scenes the making of the series which took 5 yrs
I hope you all have had a good day

Family dinner is today. 🙂 I have a list and of chores I need help with mainly for someone tall.
It's an easy one. Ordering pizza and I'll make salad and dessert.
Won't be the same without DH but I'm glad we're continuing with the family dinner.
Late last year I made a decision not to have it every month. It's too much. I think more so now. Only on the months without a lot of other things going on. Holidays etc.

Morning all, what a difference a day makes weather wise, yesterday was a p.sunny day/breezy the high was 46 This morning on my usual early walk at 6:50, a dusting of snow on ground, temp was 20 light snow flurries,no wind felt even colder as I went around the building.
My plans today, taking a timeout from church will watch online, called & made the brunch reservations for 11:45 in dining room. I'll be with the guys, Bob,Gene&Jim. The rest of my day read local paper, talk with my brother. I may go out this afternoon if it gets a bit warmer
Everybody have a good day

1772373142874.png I had a great time at the rink yesterday! So much fun, skating with friends! I did quit a little bit early, when my knee started to make it known that it was getting very unhappy. But I had skated for over 3 hours, so it was enough. (This morning it's feeling good-ish, so I'm happy about that!)

There was a lot of smoke on the way home. And I do mean a lot!!!! It was pretty awful....there were controlled burns EVERYWHERE! At times, the visibility was about a mile. By the time I got home, I actually felt nauseous from it. I ate a little bit, and it helped. By bedtime I was feeling much better.

Good morning to all. It is a little cooler this morning but will be in the upper 70's this afternoon. We will be going out to have lunch today.

@Trila, that is not good about the fire, it is the same here. There are a lot of brush fires around and we have a no burn alert.

@moviequeen1 The weather sounds better for you. I hope your day goes well and you enjoy your brunch with friends.

I hope all of you have a good Sunday.

Blah - I haven’t used my oven and broiler since husband passed nearly two years ago. It’s needed cleaned because he was not cautious about spillage.

I tore it apart and sprayed it yesterday, after vacuuming the Asian Lady Beetles yet again. Welllll, it’s still tore apart 🤯🤯. That means I have to respray and finish what I started yesterday.

All this arthritis is 💩💩💩💩 for the birds……….

These are what called "controlled burns". They are done by the US Forestry Service. I know of one burn (specifically) that is going to be over 11 thousand acres, and take around 8 weeks to complete.

There are other burns, too....that's just the one that I know about. 🔥
