I have a lamb roast in the frig. I think Ill wait until tomorrow, Sunday, to roast it.
Today I'm making sourdough bread. I'm glad I made a new starter. It is much healthier and the dough rose very well overnight. It was a bit soft so I put a note to start with less water in the recipe.
Oven has to start at 500° but that will work this morning! It's 26°!
Daughter and family that moved from seven hours away to one hour away are settled in at their temporary new home on the coast. All my children are now within 75 minutes from me and each other. That's a good distance for all.
 
It is super cold today. Wind chills in single digits. Will go out later. My grandson fell at recess yesterday. The school nurse felt he was "wonky" so called my son who is home for the next week. Son took him immediately to doctor. The left side of his forehead received a terrible bruise. A few hours later, son FaceTimed me, and the bruise is now also a black eye. He looks like someone beat him.

Oh, my heart, my heart hurts. I wish I could enclose him forever in a safety bubble. I am always telling him to be careful and he doesn't like that. No concussion, no evidence of that. Today they are having a big day at a monster truck show. He couldn't go to his Ninja class yesterday. Can't stand him getting hurt. The odd thing is, I never had these worries about his dad!
 

Yesterday I went to an Italian restaurant for lunch and played games with friends. It’s been in the low 50’s so great walking weather. They keep predicting rain in the valley while it snows in the mountains. Luckily they keep being wrong about the valley and we aren’t getting anything. I’m just going to have a lazy day reading and will walk my doggies.
 
The January fortnight break is over. We've been house cleaning and fixing cabinets. Reorganising the goods inside, found where the disappearing box of teabags had gone to 😹😹😹.

Tackled the freezer portion of appliance. Reintroduced the two drawers that were in storage. Saved all year (2023) and hit pay-dirt, got a wee chest freezer on sale (about 20 less plus free delivery). Due for delivery on 23rd but luckily arrived today.

Most comments were about dents in appliance... However, ours was well packed, and our DPD delivery man helped us put it on floor required. Installed, freezing perfectly, quiet and absolutely no difference in electricity usage.

Now, we can get frozen foods for meals for a month at a time. It's perfect! Just two important items to add to grocery list, ice cream and cubes. Yippee!
 
I had some deli roast beast left from Christmastime that I'd stuck in the freezer. Decided to do something, anything, with it so put it in a saucepan with BBQ sauce. Waste not want not. Unless it's inedible. Then it'll be wasted, and we'll be wanting something for supper. Maybe there will be pizza delivery on the menu🍕
 
Some of the modern technology is just great. One of my daughters has been living in China for ten years. We used to talk by telephone once a week, and at least twice a year she has been coming home. But recently my kids gave me an old iPhone with a family channel, and everyone has constantly input in this daily family chatter: as if all family members were still at home and around me. This connectiveness is a blessing.

Sure, I have my three "sweet pests" around me all the time, but they are no substitute for the family group. My daughter just called me, and a minute later she gave me feedback about my pups. Oh, I love this new world. Can you imagine that the picture below made a 14,000 mile roundtrip in just a split second? And at the same time, I am communicating with "Seniorforum" members perhaps 7,000 miles in the opposite direction. It's mind boggling.

It was well worth it, the lady in that poster that I previously put up, a dear, dear lady and mother to three handsome young men, has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. We met up with many friends that we used to see regularly before Covid put a cap on all that. Last night was something very special indeed. Topping the bill was Ray Gelato, you need to be into the 30's & 40's swingtime era to know Ray. He's no spring chicken, but who is? Ray rocked our socks off.
 
It is 12 degrees here presently too. I know we had snow because I heard the snow removal people out there this morning. I don't have to go outside in it so I am good.

Today my plan is to do laundry. Trying to keep my loads small so it is easier for me to do. I will finish cleaning out my closet today. Then have a pile of papers to file. Going to make taco seasoned meat for meals this week. I like to keep it in the refrigerator then just heat up a bit (in my my new Hot Logic portable mini oven, which I love!) each night and add a vegetable. Not sure what else I will actually do today.

Well more awake now after 3 cuppa's.....got some sore places and some breathing issues, but what else is new!! Don't know yet what I'll get up to, tho some laundry needs doing...having self sustained issues with my gums, ate something too hard without my dentures in, now they are rather sore, so cannot put
my dentures in and have to eat soft stuff .....!! oh had a
facefook messenger convo with a niece yesteday, she msgd me
and we chatted awhile, her mom is my oldest sis at 96yo, neice is 76 year old...she said her mom is in dementia state rather bad, but will not go into care home, neice lives in texas and comes to visit her mom once a year, she asked & I said yes you can come vfisit me some time when she comes to
her mom's....
So anyway that's my gossip...LOLO......catch u later gaters....;)

sorry to hear about your sister hawky.. your sister cannot make decisions for herself. ..so those decisions have to be made for her.
