Ahhh. This morning in Savannah started on a much better culinary and $$ note…. Found a locally-owned coffee shop for breakfast, had and scrambled egg bowl, delicious latte and a scone for less than $15. Yeah! 🥰

Now I’m going to check out if the motel… by that time the Unwind Yarn shop will be open…. I need to find a pattern that suits the yarn I bought last year in Seattle (not happy with the pull over vest I was making).

Let’s just say that second to a book store, a yarn shop is one place I need supervision and a firm guiding hand haha

@CinnamonSugar I totally understand the need for (adult) supervision and a firm guiding hand. I'm in the same boat in the garden stores;)

The flowers I got yesterday have been planted. The only thing wrong is that there aren't more. I am constrained by my pocketbook :(

Trying to be patient while waiting for The Chair. The latest text now has earliest delivery at 12:45. Phooey.

I'm having a problem with my vinca dying off. It does some every year in the very hot days but it's not coming back despite my care.
I think it's a fungus because even the patch way in the back that never dies off is looking terrible.
I have some around a large tree and another patch around some palm bushes. I have trimmed it back to about 18 inches raked it all out and added compost. I hope it comes back. It's pretty and normally carefree.
Anyone notice problems this year?

111° forecast high today. Good grief, Charlie Brown! Thank heavens for AC.
@MarkinPhx and @packleader, hope you're faring ok during this heat wave.

Not a lot on my plate after 10 am. Can't even swim because even the pool is overly warm.

It's too darn hot, as the song from "Kiss Me Kate" goes.
I am feeling the same way and will be hibernating most of this afternoon. Usually around this time of year the highs start to creep down. 114F as a high in early September is mentally draining. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" !

When growing up in the Northeast US, June-August was peak heat.

In So Cal and nearby areas, I quickly learned that June is usually not too bad, July starts to get plenty hot, August & September can be beastly, and periods of October aren't all that kindly either.

@hearlady Vinca doesn't like me and always gets fungus. I've tried planting it in different parts of the garden for the difference in soil, but it hasn't ever made a difference. I've tried fungicides. Nope. It just doesn't like me. I swear that as I pass by in the garden centers it whispers, "Shhh. Keep a low profile, and she'll go away."

Trailing vinca in a hanging pot will usually make it until mid-August, but after that it's hopeless. I read on one site that vinca likes morning sun and in another that it likes full sun. Both sites agree that it is fairly drought tolerant.

Still waiting for the storm that's predicted. Very windy and deeply overcast the type of day that you know if it does start to rain it will be very heavy..

I was so mentally exhausted after my talk with the lawyer I fell asleep on the sofa.. and had the weirdest...weirdest dream

I dreamt I got sacked in my job in a shop.. despite the fact I was the Prime Minister.. but I got sacked for punching a really nasty colleague into the river where she belonged..

the worst of it was I had to go and tell my father I'd lost my job , who I discovered had dementia and lived in an old person's bungalow under a bridge ..which he kept immaculate, but he had no idea who I was.

While there under the bridge I saw a constant throng of friends who had died in real life.. but they were alive in my dream but all in the one place, not necessarily knowing each other .. none of them looking very happy , and really quite ignoring me...

..and it didn't end there, I remembered that there was a huge market nearby, so I went off to look at it to find most of it no longer existed.. but to get to it I had to climb up on a roof, where I saw a sister push her brother off the roof as a joke. he survived.. but on the way off the roof he caught a corner of my coat dragging me with him.. and I had to cling on for desperate life to drag myself up backwards onto the roof..

Jeez.. what a horrible dream!!

The bright side is in a couple of months we will be bragging about how nice it is where we live while many in the US will be shoveling snow off their sidewalks. ;)

Well I just transplanted some Solomans Seal in one of the areas. We'll see what that does.

Yes, that is mighty strange. Dreams are so fantastic, why? No-one really knows.

yes I can link things to it ...for example.. my sister saying she didn't want anything to do with my brother probably was the sister brother roof thing....

Why I had to climb over a roof of a building to get to a market that I discovered was almost a shadow of its former self.. I have no idea..

Why the brother of the sister ( not my brother & sister) dragged me down with him.. and I saved myself, by holding on and dragging myself backwards back up onto the roof.... I dunno... ( maybe that's something to do with my ex trying to take me down )

.. and goodness knows where the Shop..or the prime minister thing came in.....and especially my father who never had dementia.. never lived under a bridge, and has been dead for years

What else can go wrong in my life? I mailed in my school taxes this morning - $2567.31. I will get some back in a mailed check because of STAR.

Then I went to the bank to put something in my safe box and found myself locked out. The branch manager couldn't understand it. He said that usually happens when someone doesn't pay their rent on a box. Mine should be free since I have 2 accounts there. He had to ask someone else about it and come to find out, it was a mistake because they transposed some of the box numbers. But it was a few scary minutes.

I had trouble getting into Facebook - the page won't load. I deleted the cookies, but now it doesn't recognize my password.

Had a consultation appointment this Thursday morning with a Kaiser Permanente doctor for inguinal hernia repair surgery but the surgeon who is also a highly regarded Stanford University teaching medical professor after viewing my CT scan files, gave the complex surgery to another that uses a Da Vinci surgery robot. I now have an September 10 consultation appointment with that new doctor.

Have already read a fair amount on the web. But surgery and especially general anesthesia, scares me regardless as my existence and life is in the balance.

I had an inguinal hernia repair under a local anaesthetic. I spent the operation chatting to one of the theatre technicians, and had a very short recovery time. The procedure was painless - until the 'local' wore off and it was strange sensation having a surgeon poking round inside me. This of course was 'open' surgery - not 'keyhole', but there are definite advantages in avoiding general anaesthesia.

believe it or not, I'm waiting now for an abdominal Hernia Operation. In January the consultant said I would get the call within 6 months.. 9 months on it still hasn't come. I'm in no rush, but I know it had to be done..

You're a pretty strong guy David. With new techniques and good doctors you should have a bright outcome. 🙂

Chair is here and assembled (easy peasy). It's just as advertised, and I like it a lot. Perfect size for the teeny tiny Hovel. DD and DGD both tried it out and pronounced it a success.

I've folded a throw and put it on the seat cushion so that Maggiecat doesn't snag the upholstery when she climbs up there. She's suspicious...maybe the new scent or something.

ETA: I had to actually pick her up and place her on the seat :ROFLMAO:. She must like it because she's still there and hasn't made a move to indicate that she intends to get down.

I balanced my checkbooks and updated my budget spreadsheets in the morning. I also mended and sewed a button on the jumper I’m wearing today. This afternoon, I cleaned out and reorganized my freezer (mid sized in refrigerator). It was packed and I knew my son was bringing home frozen food from Costco. I finished the freezer just in time and even managed to leave extra room.

My Honorary Daughter came by after work and was again the beneficiary of my purging. I gave her two pretty, sexy nightgowns that I hardly ever wore and have no further use for. I also gave her an elegant blue and beige satin robe that is now too long for me since I’ve shrunk by two inches. She was surprised and very happy to receive those pieces.

I’m cooking a Gorton’s fish filet in the NuWave. I’ll have that with steamed broccoli. While those things are working, I’ll sort laundry.... another chore I’ve been putting off this week.

I'm on a clothes spending spree this week obviously. I've just ordered another dress.. and an Aztec style cardigan.... £60 for both..so a good price...

I think my next door tenants have had a bust up... she's gone with the children a couple of days ago , the day they were due to start school.. and she hasn't returned ...and he's still here.

3 years ago soon after they moved in, he cheated on her, and she threw him out.. and he kept coming around and trying to win her back..even hired a couple of singers to serenade her from the front lawn..*cringe*

..anyway after abut a week of this she relented and let him return..the kids were distraught that he was gone...

..however I could be wrong, but for the last year , I've had a suspicion he's been cheating again... so it looks like she's up sticks and gone..
