@Georgiagranny , Actually I haven't had a Cream puff either since I was a kid.

England doesn't have the variety of cakes and sweet things that Scotland has..
In Scotland what passes for cake in a bakery in England is what we call teabread...scones. fruit cake, etc...

really delicious cakes like Cream Puffs, Pineapple tarts..rhubarb cold crust pies.. fern cakes.. and loads of others are just not made or sold here

@hollydolly I'll be right over! Yum. Something else I haven't had in years is a real cream puff. When I was a kid, it was something we made often, and we filled them with real whipped cream that we made from the cream on the top of the milk bottle.

BTW, did you ever hear anything at all from the estate agent about the flat?
yep... got an email this morning from her colleague saying their had been a mix up.. because she was off sick, and at the same time the flat owner had not returned from holiday on the 7th as they were supposed to and had just returned on Thursday.. so they gave me the phone number of the Sellers, who had given their permission.. to arrange directly with them for a viewing...

And...? Have you called? Have you scratched it from your program?

no they gave ME the sellers number. I text them.. they said to let they were still up for me to go there today.. but of course I wasn't about to start rushing around today..now... so they've told me to let them know when I am able to go and view.. It turns out it's a father with 2 kids... so he's anxious to get going so he can get his kids registered in the schools where he's moving..

I updated my budget spreadsheets to reflect recent purchases, readied the Amazon return for my son to take to Kohls and unpacked the Chewy box. After my son started purging items in the studio closet, I wound up having to do an impromptu review of papers in a bag that I'd stuck in there and forgot about. I also found some old pictures in the bag, some of which I want to post in my FB family photos group.

Some things could be tossed, but most papers have to be shredded. Now I'm going to have to stop procrastinating because there's too many (again!). He also found some CDs I'd put in a box and forgotten I'd stuck them in there. I found a place for them on the bottom of the computer stand and one of the cardboard trays in the Chewy shipment came in quite handy for organizing them. The rest off the day when I wasn't eating or watching TV, I was napping.

A blank if soggy canvas today. Weather is grim. Mrs Oy is over at Likkle Oy's house awaiting the imminent birth of our 2nd Grandchild. Likkle Oy has been having mild contractions for the 2 last days! No doubt I'll find somewhere to go and take a few photos :)

I used to love 'Paris buns' and 'Snowballs', and 'cream horns' . Some of the best pastry I've tasted was in Belgium, and I loved the wonderful gateaux that we got in Germany , but I haven't got such a sweet tooth now.

Sunday again. I used to hate Sundays, but things are much more normal now. The last time I ran into issues was on the Isle of Harris where a rather apologetic farmer said that I couldn't camp there because he didn't allow camping on the Sabbath. Even up in Stornaway, everything closed at 5pm on Saturday and didn't open till 9am on Monday.

A low pressure is still hanging off the coast. We'll get lots of rain and wind I'm sure. Hopefully it will not get stronger than a tropical storm.
I had fun at DD's yesterday. GS walked me around their new yard at least 47 times. Lots of things for children to explore and room to play. It's woodsy so the mosquitoes are pleased they've moved in. 🙄 They've got to deal with that, they're all bit up.

quiet at 8.15m... no school. no school traffic, 60 % of the workforce still in bed... here most people get their shopping delivered.. and the rest do it during the week.. we have the biggest ''work from home'', force in the western world

Yes there is a definitely another chocolate eclair with your name on it in the fridge...

My mom made eclairs. They were so delicious.

Sadly I couldn't go to NYC this weekend for my niece Katie son's christening because I ate something Thurs which didn't agree with my stomach, I called my brother early Fri morn{6:30} in tears saying I couldn't come, he was understanding Fri I spent the day dozing on/off and went to bed at 8:30 pm
This morning on my early walk at 6:50 went around building complex twice, temp was 65,sun was rising
My plan today, watch our church service online at 10:30,read local paper, take another walk this afternoon,I do feel a lot better today

Y'all! There are blueberry scones on the kitchen counter. There are only eight so if you want one, you'd better hustle on over here.

The rain might, just might, be done for a few days. It'll probably still be overcast most of today, but at least the end of the gloom is in sight.

ETA: Now there are only seven scones. I was hungry. @Mizmo is gonna miss out.

Oh yes some of the best I;ve tasted were in Italy and Spain... talking of Eclairs.. the huge eclairs they make in some parts of Spain.. they are lighter than a feather.. you don't feel at all bloated or sick if you eat a whole one

morning friends.....where are those scones and other sweeties at??? Been thinking that there was NO bakery in the small
town I grew up in, lots of foods, baked stuff, I did not have
until after joinging the navy in '58 and traveling all over...
anyhoo, I'm on my 3rd cuppa, and should be awake, not
sure what I'm up to today, see someone left some dishes
for me...so nice.....hands still not 100 percent, but will get
by.....take care all.....;)

Trying to stay awake so I can go to bed early. I have to get my schedule to flip as I need to see a couple of doctors. Plan is to go pick up a pepperoni pizza, then a stop at Braums for ice cream. Hoping for cherry chocolate chip. That is the big plan, ain't it grand!!

Yesterday, I baked a cake! A box mix; lemon. Don't know what got into me, even when I bought it, as I rarely bake any desserts, except for a pan of brownies.

I also gave my dog a bath in the kitchen sink. I just cannot wash her in the tub without hurting my back. DGS used to do it, but he's gone. She needs a bath in the interim between appointments at the groomer.

Another beautiful day at 76F and sunny. No plans.
How did the cake turn out?

I mostly had marathon Christmas baking and cleanup in mind when insisting on a farmhouse sink when we remodeled. While it has worked out beautifully on that front, it has the unexpected bonus of being a back and knee saver when bathing infant & toddler grandchildren when they've spent the night, and dogs between groomings.

TGS will be 3 in December and still has plenty of room. By the time he outgrows the sink he'll only need supervision rather than hands-on cleaning in a tub or shower.

While waiting for the sun to appear, I've spent the day scrolling through the MSN home page reading all about the things I should throw away, never pay full price for, what to never store in the pantry, what to never store in the fridge or freezer, when to buy stuff, what I shouldn't have or wear if I'm over 40, which foods I should and shouldn't eat, which meals are dated from the 1950s and need to make a comeback, go gluten-free, embrace keto-friendly, never again even so much as think about eating another bit of any sort of bread, which car(s) I should buy and how to do my nails.

I've decided that I'm hopelessly out of date. I'm an anachronism. Music, clothes, home furnishings. All of it. If all that :poop: is true, then I should never go out in public again, shouldn't eat anything unless it's trendy or I'll die on the spot, need to throw out all my jewelry/bed linens/pantry staples, electronics that are more than a year old, should apply online for jobs at Amazon.

Furthermore, I get "too much" more in Social Security than my peers.

What's an old, blue-haired lady to do-o-o-o-o?

Did a whole bunch of portioning food and freezing it... I;ve still got to make up some beef dishes.. then that's done for another few weeks

..been grey dreich day today , very different to yesterday.

Just watched 2 episodes back to back of Cheers... I'm sure I never found it as funny in the 90's as I do now..I think age bring more appreciation of humour
