Oh, no....this was not a Pot Luck. My Mom's church supplied all of the food! Chicken, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans, mac & cheese, tacos, watermelon, grapes, pineapple, and....well, that's all I remember for now.

The desert table was filled with home made cookies, etc.

There were also games, like a cake walk, BINGO, and raffles!!

Like others here I'm wondering how long we'll be able to stay in this house.
DH is still working on bathroom remodel. He is a perfectionist but still everything takes so long.
We could do it if he'd hire help and if he'd clean out. Two things he can't bring himself to do. 😒
 

Chores. Fold three loads of laundry I did yesterday. Banking, am shy of cash on hand and need single bills for AccessARide. Go to grocery store to return expired goods I accidentally & carelessly bought yesterday, didn't check expiration date in store, was about to eat it last night before I finally thought of checking date. Silly me.
 
Morning folks.....had a terrible sleep nite for unknown reason,
less maybe it was the ice cream about 9pm , ya think!? Took
a pain patch off right paw just now, and skin is so thin it ripped
a hole in my skin, so there we go, way to start the day!!!
No plans yet, too early......;):coffee::coffee:

Mrs. L and I have often thought about this house which we love in spite of its quirks, but will it become too much to manage in the coming years.
I'm not sure if the layout would allow for alterations to make things easier, but for the time being, we'll struggle on.

It's funny, when we had our house built (in 2000), Dio designed it simple, with the idea that we will want to stay here even when we are older. Now, 24 years later, we are also starting to recognize our limitations.

We will still be good living here for (hopefully) many more years, but things are changing. Gardens and walking trails are getting smaller, etc. 😢

Even though it is sad, I think we are all fortunate to be able to reach this stage in life...there are so many people who never reach this point.

And then, there is my 92 year old Mom, who is in complete denial....she thinks she can do anything!!! 😅 I'm happy she had maintained a positive attitude, it keeps her young at heart!

The flat I'm probably viewing this week...is a ground floor with a garden..of sorts..it's kind of an enclosed open space, which conjures up a picture of a communal garden, but it's not like that.. even tho' it technically is.. but the flat face out into the garden, while the other flats face out onto the road.

My friends live here.. or in London and Spain.. but the friends in London live in the city, I can't afford anything in the city, and I don't want to live there anyway ... I'm looking at this apartment in the suburbs..

The flats is ideal.. in that it's in a very upmarket area.. very little crime.. and within walking distance of 2 major rail/underground stations and within 5 minute drive of 2 others...

Equally the walk to the major high street with all the amenities is just 5 minutes...

There's a large park very close to the apartments, and a library within a minutes walk...

Not having a drain will make life easier. (y)

The flat sounds promising @hollydolly, it sounds as if it has everything you would need. From what I have seen of the photos you have posted in the past, wherever you move, you will make it a lovely home.

I used to have a neighbour who was very reluctant to move but, her daughter took her to see a garden flat not far from where she lives in NW10. My neighbour fell in love with the garden flat and has just celebrated her 10th year in residence. She loves it and, like the apartment you are looking at, it has everything - shops, station, park etc - within a short walk from home.
 
okay folks, busy morning, buiscuits and saus gravy, but biscuits
were no good, store brand ya'know.....just now took pan of brownies out of oven .....yea that's rite I baked brownies...and
gonna put canned icing on them in a bit....hands hurting now but heck....luv'ya !!!!

I'm going to see it Next Saturday afternoon.. just had an email from the agent. I can't do it before then because I have other commitments. It would have been handier if it had been Friday because I have an appt with my OA consultant in London on friday ..so I could have gone from the hospital to view the flat.. but oh well..

I love brownies. Never had them with icing tho'. I put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a warm brownie sometimes.
 
I got through that extra work day yesterday. Could have got stuck doing a double. I would have if my co-worker C. would have had to stay. But K. was trying to get out of the double shift she signed up for but administration said she had to stay. I felt bad for her, I know she was over tired. But she needs to stop signing up for all that overtime. I don't think she's in financial dire unless she did something stupid I don't know about.

Some one called in and then our scheduler puts people who are not coming in on the schedule. She's incompetent and deflects her duties constantly. I don't know why the higher ups don't see it.
 
Had much fun yesterday, Sunday at the Haight Ashbury Street Fair festival in SF yesterday so am a bit burned out this morning. Large crowds. Legs were weary from so much walking and d. In October is the massive SF Golden Gate Park Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival that draws several hundred thousand over 3 days.

Next weekend is another big street festival, Lafayette Art & Wine Festival at the Alameda county fair site, a 35 mile drive with a bunch of music stages and bands queued up. Well, also a bunch of various genre bands like jazz, soul, R&B, House, Big Band etc. Even marching bands and Classical musician groups. See 5 Classic Rock tribute bands listed covering Almond Brothers, Eagles, Tom Petty, Santana, Journey, and 2 general rock cover bands. So reads like the best mix of Classic Rock at SFBA street festivals yet this year. Also a closer 2024 Los Gatos Fiesta des Artes festival with bands I need to figure out how to blend in between the two events.

Music – Lafayette Art & Wine Festival

Over a few days on my Dell Windows 10 laptop, have now completed copying most data from over a dozen hard and flash drives into my new WD MyBook 4TB USB3.0 hard drive. What is left are a few hundred GBs of video and audio files I need to place elsewhere separately and that could be on a Seagate 1TB USB HD I just copied from and can now reformat and erase? Also have a couple USB HDs I secretly buried in the ground 4 years ago out in nearby public lands in case my 4-plex residence ever burned and should now retrieve, and update.

My GoPro skiing files from last 3 years have quickly added a lot of huge MP4 files, none of which are particularly valuable. Might just buy another big 4TB MyBook ($105) drive for video/audio files since the 1TB drive will fill up quickly. Because the 4TB MyBook uses an exFAt file system instead of NTFS, didn't need to set up any partitions.

I started watching TV early in the day. Part of my getting ready was a manicure. I had a podiatry appointment today and in essence, that would be my pedicure. I like that doctor so much. He takes his time, he's gentle and we always have such interesting conversations about everything from music to politics and today about the Ancient Alien theory and psychic abilities, although he says he mostly relies on scientific proof to form his opinions. In addition to what my PCP had ordered, he ordered a uric acid test to make sure gout is not in my future. He was happy with my bloodwork and the uric acid was on the low end of the spectrum.

My son got off early enough to pick me up and our timing was perfect. I came out about 3 minutes after he texted me that he was outside. I had taken an Uber but I can actually walk to my podiatrist's office, which I do sometimes. I ate after I got home, then took a nice nap. This evening I straightened up a bit. Our dining table (which we don't usually dine at) had papers, mail, part of Deja's cat food order...you get the picture...it was a mess. The dining table is right there as you walk into the apartment. I'd been procrastinating (obviously) but since an inspector is coming tomorrow, I needed to get that done.

I spent most of the day working on my Mom's picture frame....or sleeping.

I'm still having a hard time keeping my eyes open. Time for bed. Good night!

This morning we have glorious sunshine..🌞🌞🌞. albeit windy and cold.. currently it's 61 f...

I've got the plasterer coming in a little while to get the kitchen done where next door had the leak in their bathroom which came through into my house. I still find that incredible to even believe because my house is made of brick... The only thing I can think of is that they had the leak for a long time under their bath, so it had only one way out...:unsure:
If he gets done early enough I'll go and have my nails done.. if not, then tomorrow...


Anyway...hope you all have a super day....
