Ten days or so ago, belated snow arrived. Seeing is believing...

Over by the side garden.

The recent trade-off has been: precipitation, yes, but warmer temps. instead of -19C (-2.2F) we now get a daily high of 0*C (32F). For practical purposes, there's still more of the white stuff to be managed.

Plus, I'm doing desk work for our river-restoration project.

It's a So Cal rainy weekend so I've been staying home and off the wet streets. No sympathy necessary - this Is our rainy season. Previous rainfall was January 3rd and the next forecast rains show a 58% chance of happening on Feb 1st, giving plenty of time for this to sink in before the next go-round.

My ribs are still painful, but the very long master bathroom counter was starting to irritate me more than the ribs. The problem with big empty spaces is that they tend to collect things. Yesterday I cleared the counter, gave everything a good scrub, then put back only what belonged there, trashing or putting away everything else. When I got up this morning, a gleaming, spacious bathroom countertop greeted me!

Today's small cleaning plan is the master bedroom. As with the bathroom counter, odds and ends have accumulated on every horizontal surface.

I hurt my ribs Dec 28 so it's been nearly a month since doing housework beyond laundry, dishes, quick floor sweeps (no mopping), toilets and sinks, some straightening and fairly easy cooking. Torso twisters like mopping and dusting send me back to the couch, so I've avoided them. Roomba, bless its electronic heart, helps with the floors.

Went out this morning to do some errands and am now safely indoors with a cup of coffee listening to the wind and watching the trees get blown around outside. Hopefully all the plant pots are too heavy and sheltered to get knocked over but, I am not going out to check.

I'm home. I'm tired. We're all supposed to meet DGS for a late lunch at 2. I wanna see him, but I don't wanna go anywhere to do it >insert sigh here<.

I swear my job is a 40-hour job. So glad we have NL who sees work that needs to be done and does it or I'd probably just sit down on the floor behind the work table and cry. How on earth did we get anything done when we still had to put up with TL?

Tomorrow is inventory day so I have to work >insert another sigh here< Tuesday can't get here soon enough. It's supposed to rain on Tuesday, and I just might spend the day in jammies and in bed🛌.

wet day here, plus the storm is brewing,,i live in an amber area,,,,its strong winds at moment,a few things flying around the garden,,gonna be a long night
the winds here are storm level now... the noise is ear-splitting... , and now the Rain is falling very heavily...

The Met Office has warned Brits not to sleep near windows as the 90mph Storm Isha edges closer with trains, flights and ferries cancelled or delayed.

People have been warned not to travel ahead of Storm Isha, as the UK is blanketed by 'unusual' danger-to-life warnings amid possible 90mph winds.

A number of weather warnings, including two amber wind alerts, were put in place by the Met Office across the country for Sunday, when the storm will swoop in.

Rail, sea and air travellers are set to face disruption, with closures, cancellations and delays expected across a number of services.

Meanwhile ScotRail is shutting down its entire network from 7pm tonight with no rush hour services tomorrow morning, and Network Rail said the decision was being made to 'keep passengers and our people safe'.

Damage to homes and buildings, falling trees, power cuts, flying debris, large waves and even some flooding in places should also be expected, forecasters warn.

The Met Office has now told people the safest place in your home to avoid being injured is away from windows.
Met Office tells Brits to batten down the hatches as storm approaches

WOW @hollydolly! Those are some terrifying warnings. Please stay safe. ❤️ 🤗
thanks Star..:).I've already prepared the barn as best as I can.
It leaks during torrential rain and snow... so I've covered everything inside as best as I can with Tarps... and put a big bowl down to catch any water . My fences are protected by heavy shrubs and hedging so hopefully they won't fall down

I've ensured all doors and windows are locked..all garden furniture is weighted down. I've closed all the blinds in the house in the event of window damage ..that's about as much as I can do

SkyNews site for today shows a map, and London appears to be between Yellow and Light Yellow warning. So I hope that proves to be true for where you live, Holly. Wishing you the best.😏
thank you JBR..(y)..now we need to tell the wind and rain that's pounding my house that they should be milder...according to sky news lol

Stay safe holly. Sounds like you've covered your bases. I just realized that's a US baseball term. Do you use it there to say you've done all your prep work?

'This is Us' came on Netflix. I have been binge watching it.
I love binge watching as it's like a very long movie.
This show in particular is one that I can't get enough of. I've seen bits and pieces over the years but never watched the show.
I can't say enough so I'll say nothing. I'm in awe.

Thanks Hearlady....yes we do use that phrase among many others.. Batten down hatches...Ducks in a row....clear the decks , Get into Gear ..etc...(y)

I'm sitting here next to a double glazed closed window about 4 feet away.. the blinds are down and the wind is whistling so loud I can hear it over the music I'm playing... astounding...

@StarSong Yup. TL still in the deli. She wants out, but her reputation has preceded her so nobody will have her. She does show up on time and when scheduled, though, and does what she's told. Guess she doesn't want to get fired.

@hollydolly Holy cow! Sounds like the End Times there! If spring arrives this year, it's 58 days away.

I should probably quit complaining about the cold here...

My three dogs are peaceful, but that doesn't mean I have peace.

Ross loves Heidi and lets her get away with murder. Heidi can take a precious chewed-on leather bone away from Ross without Ross objecting. But then he comes to me and ask (I know the story) to take it away from Heidi and to give it back to him. But I won't do it because then the story will just repeat itself. So, I give Ross a new leather bone to chew on. But he won't. He just stares at Heidi how she chews on *his* bone. Eventually, Heidi gets tired chewing on the bone and is taking a rest at her favorite spot, namely sleeping behind the safety of Otto at the furthest end under my bed. Now Ross can recover his precious chewed-on leather bone. .
