How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

My son is coming over this morning with grandson. He is helping with the major cleaning today. I really need HELP!

After checking the United Nations schedule for this week, I need to cancel Wednesday with my grandson. I will ask his other grandparents if they can take this day. They have Tuesdays, but they also have an apartment nearby (besides their townhome upstate) so they can hopefully stay over and take my Wednesday.

Last year when General Assembly met, I was stuck in traffic for hours. I desperately had to pee. I was thinking of leaving the car and peeing in the street I was so desperate I didn't care who saw me or if I got a ticket. Luckily a hospital was nearby and the driver waited while I went in to use bathroom. It was a nightmare. Going home that night was a nightmare too.

Streets closed, cops stopping traffic everywhere when U.N. World Leader BigWigs in town. Awful, such an unbelievable mess.

If the other grandparents can't or won't stay over for my Wednesday I will be suffering miserably. Want them contacted today and keeping fingers crossed.

Yay, it is raining now!!! Need it badly!! Morning folks....just came
back from putting mail out to be picked up, it is about an 80foot roundtrip walk down/up a steep drive, and my hips are
at pain level 8 now....so enuff of that for today....hands are also
screaming at me for being on here....guess it is punishment day
today....will still read as I can....take care all....love ya....:cool::coffee::giggle:

@hawkdon I liked your post for the rain, not for the hips and hands. It's gonna be one of those hotter days here. No rain in sight until maybe on Wednesday.

You should have been here earlier. I made sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. ETA: DSIL was no sooner in the kitchen gathering up his stuff than I got a text thanking me for the biscuits:)

I've been to see my friendly, neighborhood haircutter and shipped a box of books to DS.

House has been tidied, litter box cleaned, bed made. The only thing left to do for the entire day is to wash up the dishes from making breakfast.

Guess I'll read my book while we wait for a report from @hollydolly.

That reminds me. @hollydolly Remember that sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet the handsome prince. If this place isn't what you want, then don't commit, even though you may have to wait a while for another to be available. You don't want to move house more than once. Easy for me to say. Heck, maybe take it, and if better one turns up, sell up and move again. I dunno. Do what's best for you (she said).

I'm drying tomatoes today. I have an overage.
I also got my fall decor down which I cleaned out last year. I need to clean out more.
DH is replacing wood on the bathroom floor before he puts a new one down.
It's a pretty day. Supposed to be 84° today. I'll take it!

Oh, and I moved the pictures on my phone to my computer. Does anyone know why it would only take up to Nov 2023?

Good luck with you're flat inspection @hollydolly !

@hearlady 84 sounds heavenly!

DD is going to dig out the fall decor next week. She's of the opinion that October 1 is plenty of time. Ok.

Dang! It's after 6 in the UK. @hollydolly must have stopped to shop and then got hung up in weekend traffic. I'm as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! As nervous as a frog on the freeway with a busted hopper! And other stuff.

No. Have to go back in three months. I was once diagnosed by this medical group as having benign essential tremors, though that was not mentioned yesterday. I kind of blanked out after hearing I had had a stroke. Freaked me out.
My dad had 3 minor strokes when he was in his 70s, and none of them disabled him in any way. He slowed down a bit after a 4th one, but he was 86 when that one happened, so I'm sure age slowed him down more than the TIAs.

There are lots of treatments for benign essential tremors and they're all non-invasive.

There are extreme cases that can be treated with one or another invasive procedure, but they're very rare. RFK Jr, for example.

Oh, and I moved the pictures on my phone to my computer. Does anyone know why it would only take up to Nov 2023?
Only the photos time-stamped on or before Nov '23?

No. That's weird. Did you use a different phone after Nov '23? I still don't know why that would be, but maybe you need a different cable to transfer those ones. One that can handle more data. Your phone store could probly help with that.

My grandson wants to come over and spend the night. I'm stoked.

It's been a long time since my g-kids spent a weekend with me.

They spent nearly every weekend with me for years. Wow...8 years. I just did the math.

But Ariel's 14 now, and Kirk just turned 17 a few days ago, so they have a lot more interesting things to do than hang out with ol' G-Da...who's a lot older now, too.

Day six (Covid having struck last Monday). Woke up with energy and a virtually uncongested head. In my province in Canada, the government has provided free little kits of 5 Covid tests. Yesterday, I used one and the results were Covid virus no longer active in me. A friend, a retired hospital nurse, has advised a second test 48 hours later (that's tomorrow morning) in order to confirm (or not) the negative outcome.

Other than that, as it was sunny I did a little work outside yesterday. Took it easy and felt no fatigue. This morning, thermal vest on due to slightly chill air, I ate breakfast outside on the deck... and sent my daughter, in Vancouver, several hilarious cartoons gleaned from SF posts here. I've got more outdoor tasks planned for today.

lol..I did stop to get some shopping on the way back.

I'm really disappointed, but it;s a No... it stunk of Damp.. I couldn't see any damp, but the whole apartment block inside stunk of damp. I mentioned it to him and he said oh it's probably the carpets in the hallways they get cleaned every once in a while ... and I thought , this is no way the smell of grubby carpet... ..plus it's really dark in there, it's like being in a basement flat.. the livingroom French windows are overlooked by huge trees, so no sun gets in... and my house is sunny from morning until night, I couldn't cope with no sun in the house..... and even more , there was a HUGE metal duct pipe about 15 inches in diameter going across the ceiling in the main bedroom...

It had great storage that was one good thing... but the Smell.. the dark... Not for me.. Shame..cuz I liked the area...

The smell was so bad, that I had to have my car windows open all the way home to try and get it off my clothes.. and even when I came indoors I could still smell it and had to throw my clothes in the washer...

Whew, just took a dish of eggplant parmigiana out of the oven. Took forever to get it assembled; I made more than last time. I think I'm getting slower as well. It smells so good but way too hot to taste.

I hate the clean up.... breadcrumbs all over, no matter how I try not to, sauce splashes, pans, frying etc. Finally finished vacuuming the floor.

Have a small chicken soup on the stove for doggie from that rotisserie chick I'd bought. She's actually getting most of it.

69F the high, breezy and only partly sunny.

Had rain this morning!

I thought there was an estate sale today.
Hubby read the ad & told me it's next weekend.

We went to local out door Farmer's Market.
Bought some apple cider.

Back home , fixed lunch, catching up on posts here.
Been giving away the extra tomatoes.

We have a trailer parked near the road,, set tomatoes & zucchini in box out there.
They seem to disappear.

@holly, sorry to read the flat didn't work for you.

Whew. I had a bad feeling about it from the start. So now you've kissed the first frog. Let us hope that the handsome prince isn't too elusive.

Glad you're home. Put a cup of vinegar in your car overnight to take out the stink. In the morning the stink will be gone, but the car will smell like vinegar :ROFLMAO:

hahaha... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: In all seriousness I'm really disappointed cuz I kinda really had put my hopes in it, and I really liked the area.. ... .. there was a few things as well that annoyed me, I was told the owner wants to take the door handles from every interior door.... and replace them with basic ones that were there when they moved in... ermm.. how odd.. it's not like they were anything special. The door handles in my house are far superior.....ooh and incidentally the kitchen is even tinier looking in real life..

Anyway..lets' get this Divorce over and done and I'll start the hunt again...

Oh 'scuse me for a minute mentioning that flat once again.. but I forgot to tell you about one of the other major problem... the En Suite....

It's no longer an en suite.. the owner is using it as psuedo music station where he has his own show on the radio... and he'd removed all the sanitary ware...

I reckon the flat is going to be on the market for a long, long time. I reckon the flat won't be sold in my lifetime. I reckon that even a stager couldn't find a way around that, um, arrangement.

Had the estate agent ever seen it before today?

LOL... they told me he was using it as an ''office''.. but I thought they meant by the photos they sent me that he was just using a desk with his mac on it.. because he didn't use the en suite as a bathroom... but they failed to mention there was no bathroom.. and the whole room was set for a disco... they were very creative with the photo they sent
:ROFLMAO:

...oooh shoot.. we're in the middle of another thunderstorm.. Lightning and loud thunder suddenly... might lose power 😧

Does the estate agent go with you when you look at places. Does she have any others that are better than this one to show you. Someone told me that when she lived there, the price on a home wasn’t negotiable. You could offer more, but not less. Is this true.

Calling it an "en suite" is deliberately misleading. A more accurate description would have been that a former en suite had been converted to a small office off the bedroom. That way you'd have known the water and sewer hookups were likely still intact, but to convert it to a 2nd bathroom would take money, time and work.

Bummer this didn't work out, but it sounds like the only thing this place has going for it is a very cool, desirable neighborhood.

Hello, friends.
I've been missing all of you and wondering what you are each up to, recently; and wanted to drop by to let you know that I am still okay, and so is hubby, despite our difficulties in recent months.

We managed to get to our medical appointments this week, though it was an extremely draining week.

I have also had to work on some difficult financial issues that I haven't yet been able to resolve.

Yesterday I had a crazy-difficult 'conversation' regarding it, with something over the phone, that I kept wondering if it was a person, overtrained to sound like a computer; or if it was a computer overtrained to sound like a human.
Yikes!!!!

I felt feelings that it would be too rude of me, to directly ask if I was speaking with a robot, or with the most advance version of AI that I have ever encountered, or rather, with an actual human. (just in case it was a human)

It was likely computerized, but so advanced that it felt disturbing to me, and very confusing overall. I didn't expect to have to rely on interactions like that, as soon as this.

Have others of you already encountered systems so sophisticated that you couldn't be certain?

I did not enjoy it, and, I never could get my important questions answered, by them, regardless of which it was. 🤔😑🙄😲😱😳

Today I tried to relax myself and take some small mental and emotional breaks from the stressors. I managed a nap, and together, we then repacked some salmon peices for the freezer, in easy-to-cook portions.

The weather here in New England is transitioning toward autumn, with the first parts of bright colors, showing up in the trees, outside my window.
Saw cardinals at the birdfeeder today, too.

I'm saying hello to all of you!
I haven't yet been able to read up here, on your latest adventures.
Kaila

@Kaila I've been wondering where you've been. Glad you're back!

An AI "person"? That sounded creepy so I asked the Omnipotent Dr. Google and guess what? The answer is yesssss! Sounds like The Great and Powerful Oz in the Wizard of Oz! God help us all. We really need to go back to monks in the cellar using quill pens.

IOW, you could very likely have been talking to a non-human AI.

@Kalia, yes I have had calls that I was not sure about, if it was AI or not. I just say, are you a person?
I am not embarrassed about it all. Either they will respond like a human or if it is a recording it will continue with the prerecorded message. Then I just hang up.

yes this is really the only thing it did have going for it, and the agent kept telling me this, that the property in the area is very expensive , and how very few properties come up for sale , yada yada.... and ultimately I reminded him that I'm living in an even more upmarket area..

The drawback of course is that there's nothing to do in this area...
