I was excited to go to Costco this morning, not only to get out but to get my shopping therapy on. My son stopped at DD on the way to get coffee and I told him to get me a pumpkin muffin. First DD didn't have them, so he went to another one. This caused us to get to Costco a little later than planned and it was crowded by then. Strange thing happened on the way in. Now Costco has a scanner that members use when entering.

Our pictures are supposed to show on the side the store agent is monitoring. Here's the crazy part...my (late) husband's picture showed up, so she stopped me. My son went in with me and we both explained to her that my card is connected to my son's account. She could not explain why that happened but said to go to the members' desk and get a new card.

I stopped in another department first, went to the ladies room and wasn't going to bother with membership for the sake of my son's time. But he suggested we take care of it. The membership agent had me download the Costco app and we tried three times to reset my account. When she checked my card, my husband's picture showed up and she was shocked at who my husband was. She remembered seeing him shop there but did not realize that he had died. Again...very strange, since I'm on my son's account...proven by the fact that his name
showed when she scanned my card.

Finally after taking a new picture (yay, they're clearer and in color now), she asked another agent to take over and that one got it done in one try. She directed me to go back to the entryway and scan my new card. New card scanned showing my husband's picture again!! By this time I was "too through", as the saying goes.

I did my shopping, bought the pumpkin muffins I couldn't wait to to try. After the cashier scanned my card and started ringing up he said.."Uh oh...we have a problem". I thought it was a card issue again. But it was that the muffins come in a two pack (but they weren't attached as such), so he couldn't ring up just one.

He said I could go back and get another one. No way was I going to do that with the crowds and long lines. They are pumpkin strudel and looked so good too! My son will stop at another Costco that he usually goes to next week. I want to get Ritz crackers while they are on sale and did not see them today. Love to shop, but it can be tiring.

Tonight I'm taking benadryl. I don't care if it does contribute to Alzheimers. It has 25 mg diphenhydramine hydrochloride, absolutely not recommended for anyone over 65. Being older than dirt, I'm over 65.

DD and DGD are off to a Mother's Finest concert. Nobody asked but whoa, I'd go in a heartbeat! I was only 30 when the band formed in 1970. Yeah. I remember.

After the benadryl tonight, maybe I won't remember :ROFLMAO:.

The posse wanted to know what's for dessert tomorrow. Apple Upside Down Cake. They complained that they have to wait all day for it, so guess what? They're getting it for breakfast. Yup. Life is short; eat dessert first. Can't get much first-er than breakfast.
"Life is short; eat dessert first. Can't get much first-er than breakfast." My sentiments exactly GG! I can't tell you how many times I've had dessert after breakfast or dessert for breakfast. 😛 Hmmm...never heard of Mother's Finest before. Something tells me you're too sharp to have to worry about Alzheimers.

Personally, I don't like any of them.

I love fabrics so this kind of thing appeals to me. This designer also sells furniture and I really like the armchairs, they look so pretty and fresh.

Vanessa Arbuthnott | Designer Fabrics Curtains & Upholstery

This armchair and stool are lovely, I really like the fabrics and this is the exact shade of blue I love, it has coastal vibes. I also like that the colour of the sofa and rug contrasts and yet, I think goes well with the blue.

Loughton - Studio Accent Chair

I will leave it at that as I could chat about interiors endlessly! :)
Ilike the first link with all the cottage theme fabrics, but it wouldn't suit my house...

The second chair the Loughton .. hmmm... gotta say not too keen tbh.. £700 for that.. no, not me... but I do like the style..

I'm still in shock about those Ebay chair prices..

The Ebay prices are ridiculous.

That's the thing, it all depends on the house and style. I love cottages and the coast so I am always going to be drawn by those influences. My friend who lives in a lovely little cottage isn't so smitten, she would love to move to a more modern home.

Yes it's horses for courses isn't it ? I have a Spanish house on the coast. but I don't have anything nautical in there, it's all pretty modern

I can't believe how expensive Europe has become (a la @hollydolly.) We just bought a brand new deluxe reclining and rocking leather chair at Sam's Club Search for reclining chair - Sam's Club for $549 even though other comfy leather chairs are available for <$400. We were the last time in Germany/Austria five years ago, but I don't remember that prices were so outrageous at that time as HD tells us.

The Santa Ana Winds are awesome; you just have to learn to live with them and the work they create for us (blown down Palm fronds)

Getting ready for the rain season, I have to clean out all water drainage outlets --- My son-in-law already bought ready-mix cement
that we will use to fortify the fence where the little creek runs out underneath our fence. A flush flood could cause major damage.

This morning, my wife and I drove to Anaheim to attend an expo for seniors, Golden Future 50+ Senior Expo. Well, you always can learn something new and useful. And I already registered for the "Automobile Club of Southern California - ID Theft Basics Workshop." Let's see whether I am able to learn something new. And then an endodontic will do a root canal on my tooth #24, and that is something I am really joyfully looking forward to, LOL.

Next Saturday is my 5 y/o grandson's last soccer game for the season. For sure I will go and cheer him on to score a goal. And something unheard of: the Auditor-Controller, County of Riverside, sent me a property tax refund for the last few years which the County had overcharged me ... quite a few $100s.

Congrats on your lineage! My avatar is now a picture of my possible XXGreat Grandfather. ( That is 20 times removed.) I think it was about 1450. From Spain. :)

Today, my DGS came and treated me to a "personal slave day".

He fixed things, vacuumed my couch and loveseat upholstery, dusted down the walls, moved all my plants out from their garden-corner and vacuumed the L/R and dining area thoroughly, hung 2 picture frames, ran to Lowe's and picked up mastic and re-glued the runner strip under the kitchen cabinets, also a hook he installed inside the bathroom door to hang my robe on and also washed the bathroom door.

He moved out the stove and fridge and cleaned behind, took out trash, vacuumed the stairs with the "big" vacuum and the upstairs hallway, shampooed out a few old doggie stains up there and because he emptied and cleaned my rug shampooer in the tub, he cleaned the tub too. He fixed the end of the drapery rod bracket that was coming out of the wall.

I made a meatloaf, baked potatoes, and a salad. He cleaned up after. I did clean and oil my coffee table, organized some books and a few other light dusting and polishing.

I feel so good; 'special'. I gave him my electric heated back massager which is too 'hard' for me, and the mango juice and key lime pie he loves, also two books for the baby.

Baby and mommy BTW, had traveled to her parents home to meet up with her aunt who had flown in from somewhere.

My new neighbor must have heard some of the noise we were making...

What a nice guy!

@RadishRose Does your DGS have any openings? LOL

@hawkdon More rain? You get more rain? Even though our forecast says rain later in the week, the chance of rain each day is barely 30%. Sigh.

It takes me about a week to get used to the time change. More sighs.

I have to change two manual clocks. Then I'm gonna do my morning tidying up before making apple upside down cake for dessert today breakfast this morning. Breakfast? There were complaints about having to wait all day for Dessert Sunday, so they're getting Dessert Breakfast instead. That'll show 'em:ROFLMAO:.

It's another overcast and quite cold day today. I slept last night longer than I've slept in ages. I went to bed at 1.30am.. and slept until 10am... I was pretty tired after such an eclectic day yesterday ... however I did a little bit too much , and really my back is hurting a lot today. I'm having to be careful how I move...
