If it comes down to wearing a mask or dying. I'll take the mask every time. That's what the brain in our heads are for. To make smart decisions for our own good. Duh!
Great Points. Masks are use-less. I believe that's been proven. I will shop later at night, probably try to avoid groups but overall, I've done that for years anyhow. I probably will not mask up unless at a Doctors office and wash my hands moreLet me pose this question.
Why wait to practice basic common sense sanitation like keeping your hands sanitary until it is suggested? I doubt very few really kept their hands sanitary during the last mandate that was for mask and social distancing since those disciplines were enforceable. Hand sanitizing is difficult if not impossible to enforce so it was only a suggestion.
Since Sars, H1N1, and Covid are potentially deadly respiratory viruses and mask are touted as effective by politicians and political sponsored scientist, should seniors mask up for the rest of their lives or wait till some political motivated mandate is issued right before political election time? If mask are so effective, why wait? I hope we can all agree that cloth masks are a joke if used for virus. They are nice in a sand storm and if heavy enough and dampened, effective in heavy smoke.
Another question I pose is, how are those masks, even the 3 M ones, effective when no one in a virology lab would wear such, but rather a hazmat suit with a sealed hood and piped in highly filtered air?
Why did so many seniors die from covid that even masked up to go out in their lawn or masked up when by themselves in their car, and had received all covid injections in a timely manner? Why? The answer is simple, contact from their own hands that picked up the virus from door handles, produce, grocery cart handles, and the list goes on. Mucus is a great host for coronavirus like the common cold and certainly includes Covid.
While the transmission through the air for very short distances has some merit, it isn't the major source of transmission. I think the rapid spread during the last pandemic proves that it wasn't spread worldwide by the air, but rather by contact and much of the contact from food sources that served as a host for the virus.
Asked yourself, why was gloving, with constant changing, in medical setting required way before covid and a strict discipline, even after the masking restrictions were lifted, in medical settings for medical workers?
This is the only mask that will protect you safely from respiratory and other viruses. Notice the haz mat suit and gloved hands.

I have a neighbor lady a few houses down. She is unable to take the vaccines and is allergic to other vaccines also. She has a lot of health issues and is on medications. But here's the thing. For me, if masks were 1% effective, they're worth wearing. Again, no cost to me. Of course, completely isolating in hermetically sealed environments is even safer, but I can't do that. Hell, if my wearing a mask simply made people feel better, why would I not do it for my community?
I don't ever want to test the hypothesis of whether the masks are effective. The cost is too high if they are. The big mistake I saw a lot of people making was that they thought the vaccine was a cure, and meant you could never get the virus. This was always false.
Masks are something super simple, cheap, and illegibly effective enough. Why isn't the enough? On principle? I don't know, if my neighbor felt safer with me in a mask, I'd wear it.
Why do medical personnel, lab virologists working with the disease and others in similar fields wear full haz-mat type suits while the rest of us use N95s? Because they're exposed to far more virus than the general public.Let me pose this question.

Who are these conspiracy theorists of whom you speak so frequently and what did they advise that you disagree with so vehemently? How do you KNOW they did nothing to protect themselves? What do "you" think would have protected them? Did a so-called conspiracy theorist do something to you personally? You exhibit a real dislike for people who think outside of the box.I shudder to think of the thousands who might have been saved but instead got sucked in by the conspiracy theorists and did nothing to protect themselves, so they died. Sad
Plenty who believed they were thinking outside the box wound up hospitalized, begging for a vaccine when it was too late, and ultimately wound up inside a box. The highly talented Meat Loaf was a sad example.Who are these conspiracy theorists of whom you speak so frequently and what did they advise that you disagree with so vehemently? How do you KNOW they did nothing to protect themselves? What do "you" think would have protected them? Did a so-called conspiracy theorist do something to you personally? I don't know that "dislike" is the most pertinant description of my feelings about conspiracy theorists. I'm horrified that they will defy the safety precautions that are intended to decrease the spread of of probably fatal disease. We all have a responsibility to refrain from endangering our fellow citizens. I don't want to have to deal with the death of a family member because some ill informed moron refuses to take even the simplest precautions. You exhibit a real dislike for people who think outside of the box.![]()
Good answer except that any exposure to a killer virus such as the primary 2019 covid one, can be deadly. Why do medical personnel, lab virologists working with the disease and others in similar fields wear full haz-mat type suits while the rest of us use N95s? Because they're exposed to far more virus than the general public.
When spending all day in Covid patients' hospital rooms (the patients can't be masked because they can barely breathe), or in a lab trying to get up close and personal with the virus to learn more about it, there is constant close contact with the virus. The more contact, the more likely one is to get ill.
That's why.
Well, this is a post that will make us all more civil and loving and respectful and bring unity and peace...I despise the arrogance and ignorance of those that think their masking is doing me a favor and my choice not to mask, based on my knowledge of medical science, especially virology and neuro-otology, makes me evil, a murderer, a Nazi, or whatever nasty label these unknowledgeable parrots of false narratives want to call me. If mask mandates are once again imposed, with a majority wearing those unhealthy cloth mask, I fear society will become more unsocial and hate will rule over love, common sense, and respect for other humans.
