Suggestions for Spiritual Awakening Audios

Yes, PP, as I told you in the books section, I love Joel too. I have tapes from his sermons from 2003 which I haven't heard or watched in a long time.

Maybe listening to them will help fill a bit of that loneliness. It doesn’t replace a person sitting right beside you, but it sure helps keep spiritually balanced in a fun lighthearted manner.

Note: This is a bit surprising about you.
I’ll say no more 🤐

My children’s Bible came in and it’s literally in comic format. Plus the printing is too small for my eyes.

Instead I view them on my iPad.

And I made the print nice and big. It’s enjoyable reading.

Learn to be happy with who God made you to be.

You may not be perfect. Nobody is. Sure, you’ve got some flaws. We all do. To be truly free, you must have a healthy respect for yourself in spite of those imperfections.

Joel olsteen

This makes me feel good. 👍

I’m currently finding reading Joel Olsteen more comforting and soothing than listening to audios. I’m actually 1/3 of the way through my book. Before I wasn’t capable of reading.
Thanks @Pepper

In my teens i did an independent study of various religions (as well as Myths, legends and folklore from around the world.) i was very drawn to the eastern ones. Taoism and Zen Buddhism. But i read the Vedas, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita.

My first husband was of E. Indian descent, raised Hindu. Visiting my in-laws in S. America provided concrete lessons in what i frequently say about the flaws, the bad things that come out of religions, being a function of human nature. All scriptures have been subject to misinterpretation and misuse by people who call themselves followers of that faith.

Remember in early days of internet (maybe they're out there on some sites still) there would be these quizzes you could take, answering questions about what you believe (sometimes how strongly you believe was noted too) and then they'd tell you what religion would be best suited to you? As if one HAD to have some religion--tho a few had 'agnostic and atheist' options.

i took a half dozen over the years that i came across, in part out of curiosity to see how the questions compared and if i got consistent labels applied to me. Only ever got 2 results: Pantheist or Pagan.
Titles and denominations are interesting ways of mentally separating things and categorizing them. Truth is where you find it. It flows from within and surrounds you like a soft light which has no source, no beginning, no end. It is its own source. It simply Is. A circle of light

From this day forward, I’m devoting my life to seeking peace and spiritual fulfillment.

The way I shall do this is by listening to spiritual audios throughout the day as well as journal / write about the important things.

Years ago I did this with very good results. I just haven’t disciplined myself enough to get into it like I used to. Back then I listened to cassette tapes as well as CD’s. Journaling was a big part of my day. I rejoiced in each day. I had true joy.

Currently I can listen to anything on my phone or Tv. I’m preferring the TV lately since it has a bigger presence about it. It’s already feeling like it’s the right direction to go.

Life is accepting each passing moment as is and I want to learn to embrace it ALL so that I may find peace and spiritual fulfillment.

Some of the great spiritual gurus I’ve been blessed to have listened to include :

Jesus Christ
Wayne Dyne
Deepak Chopra
Louise Hay
Marianne Williamson
The Dalai Lama
Eckhart Tolle
James Redfield
Don Miguel Ruiz
Ronda Byrne
Abraham Hicks
Neale Donald Walsch
Sadhguru
Jack Kornfield

At the moment I am listening to:
“The Power of NOW” by Eckhart Tolle and while I’ve listened to this many times before, it’s re-awaking my inner spirit.

If you have any suggestions for a great spiritual audio, please feel free to add it for others to possibly enjoy.

Thank you!
May we ALL be blessed.

Note: I may do a bit of a summary after listening to each audio.

Please feel free to participate.

until and i heard
a certain a bird
i dreamed i could sing
but like nothing
are the joys
of his voice

until and who came
with a song like a dream
of a bird with a song
like not anything
under skies
over grass

until and until
into flame i can feel
how the earth must fly
if a truth is a cry
of a whole
of a soul

until i awoke
for the beautiful sake
of a grave gay brave
bright cry of alive
with a trill
like until

It is now a few minutes before 2024 here on the West Coast. I didn't spend this News Years Eve 2024 with any plan but rather it just happened so. It was balmy yesterday I sort of celebrated late into the wee hours, but not tonight. So today I was not very lively. Rather cold and cloudy gloomy all day. Not the kind of evening to want to be outside in the evening. I just noticed your thread @PeppermintPatty earlier today. Amazing coincidence. Happy New Years.

Mid day, I did enjoy watching the 49ers dominate the Commanders that somewhat made up for the way they were beat last Sunday by the Ravens. Earlier this evening since it is a Sunday, I went to our church's latest mass at 5:30pm. After returning home I went through the Youtube listings of movies but didn't find anything until I noticed the below movie I was not aware of.

Since you are a seeker, this one will work well for you too as it is tells a true story of another seeker, Lee Stroebel, that was a prominent Chicago journalist and also a hard core atheist. He set out to methodically prove the Jesus story a fantasy by carefully interviewing a list of prominent sources and failed. The movie goes into little detail of his interviews and logical arguments of his following book, as it is more about his wife and family leading up to that point. For the rest of his story one will need to read his best seller book that is indeed excellent for logical skeptical types like this person. This movie will reach people's hearts, so is a good starting point.

Must have been just a little too long for here. The last line got cut off. Oh well. I just wanted to share my voice and my favorite poem with you. All which isn't singing ...
My server doesn’t allow the connection. Thank you anyway. I’m currently on page 643 of my Joel Olsteen book. I will keep reading him since I find him so inspiring.

It sounds like you had a lovely unexpected evening last night. Thanks for the movie. I will look for it on my tv since it’s much bigger to watch.

Learn to be happy with who God made you to be.

Actually came here to share a video a friend shared with me who is going through depression which may be of value here. But what you wrote here reminded me of a phrase I read not long ago "amor fati" which is nicely summarized here:

The concept of “amor fati,” was first introduced by Friedrich Nietzsche. Translated as “love of fate” or “love of one's fate,” it encourages us to embrace everything that happens in our lives, both good and bad, and see it as an essential part of our personal journey.

Since I think of God as immanent in every creature and everything, I think of God as entwined in each one of us. Who we become has many sources but we should remember there is something of the sacred in that too. Hasty judgements should be deferred out of respect.

But this is the video my friend in Germany just shared with me. Having been depressed for about a year at age 25 I can feel this guy knows of what he speaks.

Today I’m reading about forgiveness. If we don’t forgive we end up having bitter roots that contaminate ALL aspects of our thoughts and actions.

Dont let poisons of the past contaminate your life.

Joel gives a very vivid description about what happens when are thoughts are poisoned. He uses this story.

Years ago in Africa there a break out of sickness. People were becoming nauseous and then dying. After a thorough investigation it was discovered that the drinking water was contaminated. They searched for the source and found that 3 dead pigs were stuck in the root of the fresh water spring. These pigs were pulled out so fresh water could one again flow.

What a vivid way to explain what not forgiving others does to us. I am continuously learning different ways of forgiving those who have deceived or abused me. It’s an incredibly difficult thing to do but is a MUST for me. These dead piggies are poisoning my life 🐷

I learned once, when reading the Bible, that "judging" others is happening within me and holding grudges, and holding bad feelings toward others was my problem, and it made me a petty person. That lesson has stayed with me for 50 years. As soon as I judge a persons action, and take it personally so it offends me, I have a tendency to judge them ( for my own protection ). THAT is when I break the cycle
( sometimes it is harder than others ) of needing to ask for forgiveness or feeling like something or someone NEEDS forgiveness. Nip it in the bud :)

Reminds me of the times we used to gather to chant . Our mantra was/is "Om Mani Padme Om/Hum", I felt like it was chanted about the same length as the one in the video. I tried to repeat and chant with it, but I never got it. I will watch it until I do. :)

The chanting all began when I first heard
Nam Myoho Renge Kyō back in the sixties
Here is a Tina Turner version:

However, this to me is a better version:

It's kind of unnerving for me, as a boyfriend I had kept chanting for me to........nevermind!

What do you think of "fusion" spiritualism that combines value from various traditions?

A few minutes ago, posted this in 'alphabetical music videos' and thought of you @PeppermintPatty

Deva Primal & her husband Mitan put out many mantras. They are worthy to check out, I think. Deva is luminous. I have seen them in person, magical!
Sorry I missed this. I LOVE singing mantras and singing bowls by the monks. It’s very soothing and proves that there’s a way of reaching and finding that inner spirit that’s connected to the source of everything and can do it all without words. Priceless. Thank you 🙏
