I've been watching 1st season Perry Mason reruns from 1957. It takes people so long to dial a number. In one episode, after dialing for what seemed like forever, Perry's secretary gets told to keep dialing for 15 more minutes after getting no answer the first time.
Today's young people would have refused. Maybe even walked off the job. But she just kept dialing.

Della Street(Barbara Hale) was a great character, would have also liked to see Gertie(Connie Cezon) in more episodes.

A guy asks a black homeless guy what the greatest invention of the 20th century.
"Well, it's a thermos, that's the best invention of all time?"
The reporter was caught a bit off guard and tried not to be smug: "the thermos?!? Why??!"

"Well it keeps hot things hot, and cold things cold!!"

The reporter, still surprised, asked " what's so great about that?"
The black homeless man answers, "WELL HOW DO IT KNOW??!"
