Two Children Killed In School Shooting

Another school shooting. This shooter left a "manifesto". It's the usual- a gun nut, dysfunctional socialization, antisemitic, etc., etc. And that's the thing-it is so "usual". The easy access to fire arms is a factor, but, in truth, most gun nuts don't maul down praying kids. What is it in the American DNA that grows a new crop of school/mass killers every year?

You do realize that it's impossible to buy an assault weapon. You can't buy one since they've been banned since 1986. You cannot buy one unless you have an FFL permit.

But if I find interesting is, nobody is raising a stink about the shootings in Chicago, New York and LA. The murder rate alone in Chicago is over 200 I believe at this point, but of course since it's mainly blacks nobody really cares about the death rate.

Adult and children are being shot in those cities also, but is anybody screaming about it?

Not true. Pennsylvania allows for the purchase of an assault rifle, like an AR-15.
Some states have passed their own laws regarding purchasing assault weapons.

The Federal assault weapons ban that was enacted in 1994 and included a sunset provision that expired in 2004 and is not currently in effect at the federal level. Efforts to renew the ban in Congress have not succeeded.

A very good question. Too many people of all ages die intentionally or accidentally by bullets, but more can be mowed down in one day by a single shooter with high powered firearms and almost unlimited ammunition.

An AR-15 is not an assault weapon. An assault weapon is one with the capability of going fully automatic.

Well I guess I could shout that to the sky and still people would believe that you can buy an automatic weapon in a gun store.. I waste my time too much saying such.

Gun violence in the cities is out of control as well. One thing we can do is try to elect better people.

What a sad, sad day! I was in tears all day when I heard the news about the Catholic school event. Little, innocent children, gunned down like animals. This is horrific. The two that were killed are now angels. May God bless them, the victims, and their families. Protect us all from evil!

The will to kill. The younger generation has it in spades. They also act on impulse especially the gang bangers in their teens and twenties. Look at someone funny at the wrong person, place or time expect to be looking at an incoming bullet, fist, knife or car. Their 'penalty' or solution is death

Apparently this murderer was suicidal at the time of their heinous act. He/she wanted to kill themselves, didn't have the guts to do it and needed to commit a crime that there would be no coming back from.

Well it should make a difference to all, for it is these ****ed up people that seem to do these things and it [should] make a difference in how it is discussed here.

If only we [as a society] would start to recognize it early-on and actually do something about it [them]. Start by limiting their access to weapons, and [I'll say it] perhaps go back to institutionalizing them BEFORE they kill.

When my son first got his driver's license, I told him to basically expect, as a teenage boy, to be pulled over, whether it's a local, relatively "minor" pull-over or if he gets pulled over on an interstate. He's slender, like his father, and would usually take his wallet out of his back pocket when driving and lay it on the front passenger seat because it was uncomfortable to sit on. Naturally, at times the wallet would slide off into the front passenger footwell.

I made sure to tell him that if this had happened, to NOT, under ANY circumstance, reach down to retrieve his wallet (i.e., to get his license). I told him to keep his hands on the wheel and explain to the officer what he would be doing, that if he just reached down the officer would assume he's reaching for a gun and pull his own weapon and probably scare the s--t out of him.

It's sad that this even has to be such an issue.

Like usual, the left wing politicians will turn tragedy into opportunity to further their agenda.
We've all heard it before, guns don't kill people, people do.
You don't need a gun to kill people. We've seen mentally ill people drive into a crowd with the pedal mashed to the floor.
Propane tanks, Molotov cocktails, knives, baseball bats, candlesticks, rocks, bare hands, etc.
Guns have been around forever, but the problem seems to be getting worse.
Mentally ill people are going untreated because nobody wants to hurt their feelings.
24/7 "news" channels make the shooter famous, plaster his picture all over the TV and internet. "Not such a nobody now"
Until we stop blaming the tool and start solving the root problem, nothing will change.
All the guns could disappear today, and the crazies will still kill as many people as they can to make themselves famous.
Not trying to offend anyone, just saying if we keep believing guns are the problem, then nothing will change.
 
I have seen several fully automatic pistols that were not for sale at gun competition shoot-outs. They use a drum as a magazine. It doesn’t take long to burn through 500 rounds of ammo.
