What are you doing today 2023

We're having a snow storm. Not bad, maybe 4 inches overnight but it's snowing again and predicted to last until 7pm.

@StarSong I'd like to make a minestrone too, but I have 2 containers in the freezer. Think I'll thaw one and cook a little pasta to add for supper.

Doggie is hunkered down in a comforter on the love seat. She knows the weather. She can see all the white stuff through the slider. Thank goodness she does well with the puppy pads when It's like this.

Ozzie is very averse to being outside in cold, wet weather. How did you puppy pad train your dog? I have no idea how to go about that.
I guess she figured it out herself, along with my urging "go-go-go". The pads have a dog urine scent that we can't smell, but they can. I had her on the leash while she circled and sniffed but, brought her back when she tried to wander. Suddenly she peed! Much praise and some treats soon followed.

Oh, they hate the rain, don't they!

They sure do!

My dog pees like a borate bomber, can hold it for 12 hours or more, and lets it go as soon as he hits the grass.

Poop is another story altogether. He can't hold it as well and needs wandering around time to pick a spot.

That's what I'd want pads for.

Later on, my dog used the pads to poop, but a piece or two was on the carpet. She's only used it for that purpose a few times.

Try lightly scenting the pad with her #2.

Yesterday was great! Mom and I didn't argue at all....not once! 😁 We did stuff around her house, then went into town for no real reason (I did want to drop off my belt at the leather repair shop).

As we were leaving to go, I told her that I had a surprise for her. Instead of turning right, to town, I turned left. No matter how much she asked about where we were going, all I would say was that I was kidnapping her. About a mile down the road, I turned into a spray wash. She was so excited!!! She has been wanting her car washed for a VERY long time! I only rinsed it down, but she was happy as can be! From there, we headed into town.

After dropping off my belt, we walked about 1/2 block to an ice cream🍦shop that nether of us had seen before. Unfortunately, it looked like they were still setting up, and were not ready to open for business. From there I took her to the park and we checked up on Chelveston. Mom had no memory of that part of the park or the pond....so it was like a new experience for her. It was super windy, so we only stayed for 5-10 minutes, but she seemed to really enjoy getting out of her usual routine!

After a quick stop at the little grocery store, we started to head back to her house, and we had to drive right past Dairy Queen. Soooo.....we stoped in and shared a hot fudge Sunday. Mom got some ice cream after all!!

The whole day was spent laughing and enjoying each other's company! 💖

Today we ended up going to Wal-Mart. We were going to go tomorrow, after Dio's dental appointment, but there is a good chance that it will be raining. I would rather deal with loading and unloading purchases when it's dry out.

When I got home, there was a voice mail waiting for me from the bank. My Mom had been there this morning to deposit a check that I had written out for her.....but she was at the wrong bank!!!!

(sigh)Just when I start thinking that she is doing so well.......

Haven't read any of today's posts because I'm having a moment. A long one. Can't seem to get myself together at all, dreading two days in a row of not working. One day at a time, please, except for a Saturday and Sunday later this month when the garden centers will have bedding plants so that I can work in the garden.

Why not two consecutive days off? Because there's nothing to do here at The Hovel. I can handle one day of nothing much to do. It takes about 20 minutes to dust and vacuum, 20 minutes to clean the bathroom, 20 minutes to clean the kitchen. That's if I work slow! After those things are done, it's mostly sit around on my dead center waiting for the clock to tick, so another whole day after that is more than I can stand.

We broke another high temp record today. It was 81.

New Lady, who's "having surgery", showed up yesterday morning and Sir told her he was already over his allotted hours for the bakery for this week so she couldn't work and sent her home. LOL She has the notion that she can just show up, never mind that Sir has a budget for hours that is almost always exceeded. It just doesn't seem to register that he's not free to let employees work whenever they want more hours (and therefore, more money).

For all her insistence that she only works to kill time and doesn't need the money, she sure does seem to be all about the money. Guess her catering business isn't bringing in the bucks that she wants us to believe it does.

In any case, Sunday and today were peaceful and productive without her presence. Retired Lady remarked that it was nice to get the job done without the drama and commotion. You could almost call it relaxing ;)

Took a few things to the thrift store (including the duvet cover). While there, I bought a Gazelle. Not an animal -- an exercise machine. I had to put it in the kitchen, because the living room is already pretty full of exercise equipment.

I did my exercises. During February I've been doing just half an hour a day. Tomorrow is March 1st. The days are already getting longer. I'm going to try increasing my exercise times, back to "normal" levels.

In a few minutes I'll talk to my long-distance language partner. Then go to bed and read!

Yup, that was my day.

Can't you just take yourself off for the day somewhere ?.. :)

I had a productive day today, I did most of the cleaning that I'd planned to do yesterday (yesterday was a complete zero for productivity, I had to remind myself at bedtime last night that no one knows nor cares anymore whether I get things done, there are no deadlines or performance reviews, I'm retired/free! free as a bird!).

Also, I'd received from Amazon some crocs type of waterproof work shoes so I could finally go work in my muddy little garden plot -- digging the mud to try to set the growing frames level (left by previous plot renter) in the corners. My back was really sore when I got home and I was worried I'd injured it, but now at bedtime it seems okay.

I threw away the $80 Keurig that I bought two months ago. Last week when I made a cup of coffee a dead bug floated around in my cup. I made the mistake of googling bug in coffee maker and saw a lot of gross images. So even though I ran many many cycles of hot water and vinegar water through the machine and never saw any other bug, and saw nothing worrisome with a bright flashlight, I just could not overcome my irrational ninny-ness and face ever making a cup of coffee with it again. So down the trash chute it went tonight. I've been using my tiny travel coffee-pod coffee maker instead, it is small and easy to inspect. Also the management office had the bug spray guy come and spray, plus I put roach motels all over (no one has 'checked in' yet tho), and got an electronic plug-in pest repelling thing. It has been over a week and no sign of any additional bugs. Nevertheless the travel coffee pot is defended by being kept in a big bowl surrounded by sticky paper. I think the bad thing about living alone is nobody around to laugh at me until I become more rational.

Today is an unusual day in that Wednesday isn't a day I've ever not been scheduled to work! It's a busy day because we get a supply truck on Tuesday night and because Wednesday is the day the weekly sales start.

It's supposed to be a mild day, overcast and sort of warm, before the thunderstorms start tonight. Those would be the thunderstorms and cold fronts that the weathernerds have said would happen since last Saturday but that haven't happened yet. I haven't had to turn the heat on for days.

@Jules and @hollydolly We have bus service, but the closest stop is about two miles away. There are edge-to-edge subidivisions between here and there that back up to the main road to the bus stop. From The Hovel to the main road that would take me there is only a couple of blocks, but I really wouldn't feel safe from traffic or from the crazies walking the main road.

Or...if I had a way to get to the Square, about five miles away, I'd do that for sure. There are lots of people-watching opportunities in the Square itself, and it's surrounded by little family-owned shops that have been there since forever. They're mostly tourist-y but still fun to poke around in.

I'm usually off on Thursdays when DD goes to her away-from-home job, and that's when I do my tidying up and stuff. Yesterday she was waiting for s WFH assignment to come in so she'll likely be chained to her computer today. If not, maybe she'll be willing to go over there just to kill some time.

It's all the fault of the garden centers! If they'd just cooperated and stocked up on bedding plants, I could spend the day planting...

But not to worry. I'll be fine. Really. Just fine:cry: No need to feel sorry for me; I'm perfectly fine wallowing in self pity:ROFLMAO:

And I'm gonna text Sir and plead with him to not do that two consecutive days off thing again.

Today I plan on taking it easy. Friday is my errand day and I want to be able to walk by then. Yesterday I vacuumed my apartment and furniture, moving everything back and forth. It took me a few hours to complete since I have to sit down for a break in the middle of it. But I got it done and even walked out to the dumpster afterwards.
