Making progress. The weighted blanket cover is in the dryer. I'm not looking forward to putting the darned thing back together:(

Just ordered two coffee table books from Amazon about the city and our county to give Retired Lady as parting gifts. They should be here in plenty of time; her last day is Thursday, my day off. DD works at her "real" office on Thursday but only until noon and is going to take me to the store to say goodbye. I'm gonna miss her soooo much!

We have 3 houseplants and I'm not permitted to touch any of them. Through my entire life I have yet to keep alive a plant or tropical fish despite dozens of attempts. There's a joke in my house that the plants extend their leaves when entering our house, trying to grab the doorjambs so as not to come in. Ditto fish and their little fins. Our children referred to my aquarium as the tank of doom.

Since making the agreement that I won't even look directly at the plants, DH has (infuriatingly effortlessly) kept them healthy and thriving for seven years or so. Our gardener and DH care for the outside plants, though I do water them occasionally, mostly under supervision.

We expect to not revisit the tropical fish adventures in this lifetime.

Happy to say, I have a much better touch with mammals.

@jet I've started the scarifying... got quite a big patch done .. then because the grass was so long I've mowed the lawn ( at the back)... raked
up the moss , and we're supposed to have a sunny day again tomorrow, so I'll scarify the whole lawn... . Just ordered some new lawn seed, I could have sworn we had loads in the barn but I can't find it... anyway..the yellow you see in the picture isn't different grass it's just dappled sunlight shining through the trees..

this is the lawn now I've mowed it..

so I'll scarify it tomorrow.. and then I'll pre fertilise and re-seed...

Going to do nothing today but relax. I watched on my computer all day yesterday my Granddaughters dance competition. She won 3 golden plus awards for her Solo dance, her duo dance, and her group dance to Greece, and really enjoyed it.
sorry Sassy.. did you mean they went to Greece.. or did they dance to the song Grease ?

Grandgirls are on Spring vacation from school, so they and their mom are coming today to watch The Sound of Music at my house in a little bit. I’m showered but back in clean pj’s and other than wash a couple bowls/cups, I have done ab-so-lutely NADA today and plan to maintain that trend!
Have a great day, friends!

@Georgiagranny, assuming your bakery will kick into high gear this week, churning out bigger quantities across the board, yes?
Yes, but..most of it will be for specialty treats like cakes, cupcakes, iced cookies decorated for Easter. None of those are in my purview.

Funny thing, where I'm from hot cross buns are a real big deal, especially saffron hot cross buns. Not here? Huh?

They were also a big deal where I'm from, but not here. Could also be that 50 years later they're not suchamuch there either.

hot cross buns in the UK are on sale all year round... used to be we only saw them at Easter when I was a kid, but not now...

This hot cross bun thing is making me laugh remembering something. A group of us were talking one day and most said they do not like hot cross buns.

The day after Easter I ran into one of those blue moon sales where they had the day old buns for 11 cents a package. I bought a dozen and asked if anyone wanted some. I got left with 3 packs.....true story.

Still have some of the book club book to wade through.

Also the manual for the simple telescope I borrowed from the library. It must be easy, right? But I haven't been able to figure out on my own how to attach the mount and the eyepiece. I have to do it soon, as the days are quickly getting longer (meaning night viewing conditions are worsening).

Today is a possible laundry/housework day. So I'd better attack the dishes. I've let them pile up.

No Spanish conversation this evening. So I can go back to bed any time. Usually by mid-afternoon I can hardly wait for the day to be over, so I can go to bed.

Hey! What's with not liking hot cross buns? Y'all must not have had a grandmother who made them with saffron and who made them moist and delicious. My grandmother made The. Best. Hot. Cross. Buns. With saffron. I used to sort of just...um...drop by on Holy Saturday. Besides, on Holy Saturday we took dyed eggs to church to have them blessed. Needed sustenance from the hot cross buns to walk up to the church, wait for the blessing, walk back to grandparents' house:)

Oh my, I feel so guilty. All you people so busy doing lawns and baking and stuff.
I did straighten up a few things on my balcony but still a bit chilly to be out there any more than ten minutes. ...well that is my excuse so now I will flick the duster around and then my favourite pastime...
chips-tv-bluebg-url.gif. I have recorded and started to watch old movie called A Star for Two....an older Lauren Bacall...lovely stuff:love:

"Celebrating" six months since my double knee replacement surgery.

I guess my recovery has gone as well as it could have gone, according to the doctor. But slower than I'd like. I can do some things I could not do before, and generally have less pain than before. However the pain isn't gone, and there are times I am a bit limited. Doctor tells me that it takes 12 to 18 months to fully recover.

Ongoing problems are what the doc calls biomechanical and some inflammation due to the foreign objects in my knees, both are supposed to get better. Biomechanical are due to the new knee working differently from the old and the half inch or so of added height. I guess the muscles, tendons, ligaments and brain take a while to get used to it. Glad I had it done, and very glad I got both done at the same time, would not want to go through this again.
