What are you doing today 2023

I was finally able to get a double load of laundry done. For almost a week, we’ve had thunderstorms and heavy rain which prevented me from going downstairs at my usual times (between 12 and 2:30 a.m.). As I mentioned previously, I have a dryer in my apartment. I ate and took a short nap before drying the clothes. Most of the clothing went on hangers and I put the rest away. I usually wind up waiting a day or so to put away the ones in the basket.

I balanced my checkbook and made grocery shopping lists for Price Rite, Shoprite, Walmart and Costco. I talked with my BFF this morning. I also had a lengthy conversation with one of my neighbors. Boy is he a talker! Later I called his sister. She used to live in our complex and regrets moving. Both became blind due to glaucoma and they miss being able to get out and about like they used to.

After dinner, I didn’t fall asleep like I usually do, so was able to finish loading and running the dishwasher and get my kitchen cleaned up. We practically wash our dishes after we finish eating but I prefer washing dishes in the dishwasher. It eliminates having to dry them, a task I hate. When she was a housekeeper, my mother used to quip about the redundancy of having to wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.

You are so right, Jules……but……I have a 4ft x 9ft balcony…..that sure shouldn’t be that hard, should it.
I still have a bit around my vehicle…..that shouldn’t be too hard either…..should it. 🤔😉.
 

That story in the hometown newspaper? It's such a big deal that there's even a picture! :ROFLMAO:

It's supposed to be sort of nice-ish today and maybe not even any pop-up thunderstorms with the temp no more than 90. Maybe. I need to haul my bony butt out to the garden and deadhead stuff before the sun chases me away. The lawn might get mowed today.

There's laundry swishing as we speak.
 
On my early walk around 6:15 temp was already 72, with a slight breeze as I walked 2 blocks to buy local paper
When I returned water flower/ plants in community garden
This morning, friend, Mary&I are going on weekly 'road trip' to my fav store Target, need couple items
The rest of my day may sit out reading in garden or staying in my apt with fans
 
It's racing towards 1.30pm... I've been over to the next county this morning to do some shopping. There's a big Dedicated freezer shop there.. alongside the Superstore supermarket... and as I accidentally left the door to my larder freezer in the barn open the other day...and all the food was ruined 😱and had to be thrown away..I had to go to the freezer shop to get at least half to refill... and the rest of the food will come from what I freeze myself..

So it's 71 deg and humid ..so I do have an insulated bag on wheels which I was able to put some of the food in to make it back without starting to thaw.. but I had to buy bags of Ice to pack up around the rest of the food in other bags..


I noticed that the hedge had sprouted exponentially since I cut it last week (rain).. so as soon as I put the shopping away, I went out with the hedge trimmer and cut it back... ..

Then I came in got changed , made a cuppa tea and a Ham roll.. and now I'm sitting down for a rest...

ETA, just had a mail saying a delivery is arriving today, so it's good thing I wasn't out for the whole day.. this delivery wasn't actually due until the 7th... on the flipside, it means I can go out tomorrow all day

I didn't really sleep in this morning, but I did take my time getting my butt out of bed. Once again, I've waken up in the morning and I'm still tired. 😴 There have been fireworks going off every night for about a week, and I think I'm experiencing an accumulation of interrupted sleep. 🎆

I don't know if I'm going to actually wake up any time today, or not. You're all ok with having a zombie for a friend, right?

Well. First load is in the dryer. Jeans and stuff washing right now.

I weeded! Yup. Killed them suckers, deadheaded a whole buncha stuff and tidied up the teeny tiny patio.

@Trila Have a cookie with your coffee. Caffeine. Sugar. That'll do it.

@hollydolly Losing the stuff in my freezer would break my heart. There's ice cream in there!

@Sliverfox The deer haven't ever bothered my lilies. At least they haven't bothered them so far. Hm. Wonder why?
 
I swear I truly regret the day I adopted Riley, just kidding, but he does get himself into trouble and leaving a mess for mommy to clean up.

Too hot to cook so I took a pack of corned beef out of the freezer this morning and put it on the counter. Ran to the window to see what a long bang was which turned out to be nothing but in that 30 second space of time the corned beef disappeared.

Did I just imagine I took it out???? Checked the freezer, not there, Was there actually corned beef in the freezer? Senior moment.

Took out a package of sliced turkey instead. Then I see Sir Tibbs snacking on the corned beef hiding in a corner.

It did not agree with him.....hence the mess for mommy to clean up.
 
I'm a very happy Bunny... I've just had the tree surgeons out to look at the biggest tree in my garden and give me a quote for chopping it down... and they're coming to chop it down this weekend.. :love::love:

Don't get me wrong..I love trees.. but this tree was in my garden as a tiny tree.. before I moved here.. and it has grown exponentially over the decades, and now is causing huge shade which is destroying my lawn...

In the past I've had it trimmed and severely cut back, but it's expensive and it grows back twice as fast.. so it's time to be done with it... and I'm delighted...

The cleaning crew has come and gone… house is back to where it should be

sitting out under the shade of the tulip poplar. I’m enjoying some watermelon bites, served in an orphaned Royal Albert tea cup. I don’t know if it makes the melon taste any better but it’s very refreshing.

Most had passed away in the meantime, but to my delight I found that my best friend, ever, was still alive! So, after sixty years, he replied to a message I left on WikiTree! You have no idea how good that makes me feel. The ministry made it impossible to make true friends, so I have been "friendless" for years! Thank God I have my daughters!

My Dad had lost contact with all of his Navy buddies. When he died I found a cigar box in the closet. It has all kinds of pictures of him and his friends aboard The USS Roosevelt C.V.B.. 42!

I tried to find some of them (limited resources and knowledge)....with no luck.

Tomorrow is another day.......maybe give the vacuum cleaner a treat and take it out for a walk.

Yesterday……got my pantry and laundry room reorganized…..Micki and I got our 4 walks in, her jobs included…..went out for supper with a new friend from building A, I’m in building B……a nice home style restaurant, we each had the special, Philly Cheese Steak on a mouth watering potato bun and a choice of sides…..it was the best I’ve ever had…..big thumbs up for that place.
And guess what……I remembered how to act in a restaurant

Today…..2 walks in so far, another 2 to go…..started hanging things on the wall…..looking and feeling like home more and more.

Almost have routine and schedules down pat.

I’m impressed, I only have someone on one side of me…..I’m in a corner suite….and stairs on the other side of me…..and suites across the hall……I hear absolutely nothing…..pretty sound proof, I might say. 😊.

Time to go spend more time with the day.
