What are you doing today 2023

Had a great session with my physio today. He did a marvellous job of soothing the muscles in my arms which let me down three times yesterday, water skiing.
I took three dunkings!!

Now I’m thinking perhaps it’s time to give up water skiing since it would appear the cuff repair I had a few years ago is not going to take such wear and tear much longer.

Ah well… I shall sit in the boat sip a daiquiri and watch the spills and thrills instead 🍸🍹

Well folks...it's raining, it's 66 degrees... this time last year most of you will remember we had 90 plus degrees... inside the house at midnight... horrible heat, and no AC and those who follow my photography will remember these pics... among many others that I took this week one year ago..

Well I'm delighted that today.. is the exact opposite of that. It's 66 degrees, and pouring of rain.. and I couldn't be happier. 🥰 I've always been a sun lover.. but lately there's been an intense heat more than ever before which is making me intolerant of it... so I'm much happier now with cool temperatures..

@hollydolly Not to burst your bubble but enjoy now because I just saw on the news that 2024 is on track to be hotter than 2023.

A turn around the garden to do a little tidying up has exhausted me. Who the heck is gonna take care of it all next year? If I get this tired now, imagine how I'll feel in a year!

I did eat bread pudding for breakfast. It came with some kind of sweet and sugary sauce. The sugar high made the turn around the garden possible. I'm ready for a nap now.

Anyway, a day off to do nothing much beats a repeat of yesterday's sh!t show at work. I'm convinced that Sir is doing the quiet quitting thing, and it directly affects my ability to get my work done. I'm a baker. I bake. I bake breads and cookies and croissants, package and shelve them. Not back up for anybody. I'm getting tired of being depended on to get things done. Actually, I like being a one-trick pony and claim Luddite heritage whenever I'm presented with anything technical (this from the person who designed digital long-distance phone circuits when digital anything was in its infancy).

Sir had a day off yesterday. Transferred Lady (hereinafter referred to as TL) called around 9ish to say she was stuck in an airport wherever. She went to Acapulco for a week so I guess she was stuck at whatever airport serves Acapulco. I was left in the bakery alone to fight alligators🐊 and forest fires🔥.

GiGI..I hope you're wrong about the forecast.... and I have to say no-one has predicted that here...

In Europe.. in Greece and Spain the wild fires and the heat are off the scale this year... the airline companies are laying on Rescue flights for all the Brit tourists.. ...we pretty much had that last year... so I sincerely hope it's not coming here again...🫣

Monica, first of all, Welcome! You found us the same way I found them when I joined. I also did a google search for forums for seniors. It's good to see it still works like it did then. I hope you enjoy this forum. I sure do!
I am sure I will. Being newly retired and being home with just my dog for company this forum of friendly people will be fantastic.

I must go to the dentist, today, to see if a tooth that broke off, last evening, is fixable or not.:cautious::cry:

It will be a challenging and difficult outing overall for me, for several complicating reasons, including pain and mobility issues, but it must be done.
I am glad I could get a dentist to check it out, as soon as today, despite how much I don't want to go there.:confused:

On a positive note, I saw 2 ruby-throated hummingbirds out my window, late yesterday afternoon, both searching for one delectable flower blossom. ☺️
They are the first and only ones, I have seen this summer at all. I was thrilled to be able to see them!

I was a dedicated library user... but 2 reasons I stopped... One because our libraries here have almost completely turned themselves into Computer Hubs... at the expense of all new books... over a period of the final year I used the libraries I could only ever find a handful of new books and they were always fiction..( no fiction for me)>. further to that, the noise from students clacking on computers and chatting amongst themselves, as well as children allowed to run free and noisily, meant it was no longer the relaxing place I was looking for...

Secondly..is the deadline as you mentioned.. altho' we can renew online for another 3 weeks.. it's still something that hangs over your head..knowing you'll face a fine if they're not back in time.. and as my library is in a completely different town.. it's not easy to just pop them in ... so I stopped using libraries after 50 years.. and now just buy all my books online..and donate them when I'm finished
I can renew also, and I do. The fine is almost nothing (10¢ a day??). I just need to get down to reading! The book is really good, but....I'm easily distracted. (sigh)

I am so humbled right now. I have been offline since my post last Friday. I came back today and saw that I had 36 notifications!!! Thanks to each and every one of you for making me feel missed. I love all of my SF friends!

The due date for my Library book is coming up faster than I realized. My focus for this week will be to do lots and lots of reading!

.....see Ya' all later!

Didn't get the nap I wanted. DD took me to get mulch. First garden center was the only place we were going to go. Get mulch. Go home. Right? Wrong! They had dwarf oleanders. Yeah. I know they're poisonous, but I'm a big girl now and there's no danger of eating them or touching them and licking my fingers. Two of them wiped out the balance on the gift card. They came home with us.

Then we went to the other garden center where I still had a $50 gift card. We got the mulch there after visiting Clarence (clearance racks). Clarence had big, blooming bright pink guara for $4 each. Three of them followed me home, and there's still $13+ left on that gift card.

They all have to wait until Thursday to be planted because it's too hot already, and I'm too tired.

Now. About that nap 🛌

Looked it up,, can't help but. wonder...
When we bought this place it was overgrown with weeds & flowers.

Some where hubby rented an earth mover & started to clear a path to the house.
He & his father were like kids with a new toy.

I think a lot of it may have gone 'over the hill', wondering if this shrub was one of them.

According what I'm reading online,, I might be able to start new ones from cuttings.
I want to try that,, already picked out couple of places to put them,, IF all goes as mentioned.

On my early morning walk at 6:30 noticed it had stopped raining just light drizzle as I went to buy NYT
After breakfast i walked to my church to help out in the business office where I use to volunteer 2 mornings/wk before Covid changed everything. This morning I was sealing quarterly members statements/ put stamps on,it took me about an hr. It felt wonderful, this was one of the 'jobs' I use to do,general office work. The staff member, Sawrie profusely thanked me. I told her if she has any upcoming 'projects' she needed help ,just let me know
Afterwards, i walked a block to local grocery store,Price Rite bought a few items, then took bus home
This afternoon after lunch & nap went outside to sit in the garden for 1hr 1/2 with 3 residents who are usually out there most days like myself in the summer months, sat in the shade
