I'm a little bit irritated because I ordered a Curtain rail... which needed to be 200 cm in width to fit the space, and the company sent what is supposed to be 200cm, and it's 3 cm too short to fit in the alcove, I've taken photos of the pole completely extended and it clearly shows it's only 170cm ... . I've contacted them just now, and just waiting for a reply...

Beginning our third or so week of straight 100+ temperatures with no let up in sight anytime soon. And no rain either. Gave up watering the grass and any container plants I had are long-gone.

I have a tree service here today to remove a pecan tree, remove the dead areas of a large crepe myrtle and some limbs from an oak tree that were hanging over my roof. That tree had been dropping limbs and I was really concerned one would hit the house and cause a lot of damage. They will also thin out a large live oak in the front yard and remove some limbs from that tree that are over my roof. $$$ but it is worth it for peace of mind.

We took a boat trip around Lake Lure today (where part of "Dirty Dancing" was filmed).

We saw some interesting and spectacular houses...one that rents for $5000 a night....off-season. Ouch.

And one that is completely buried in a gigantic hill of Kudzu. There's nothing showing but a chimney sticking out. The present owner of the property claims he's going to get around to digging it out and seeing what's there "some day".

Ahhh, to see how the "1%-ers" live......

I didn't do much of anything today besides watch TV and nap. I also researched train service between a couple of spots in N.J. while I was on the phone with my BFF. She'll need that information when she comes up next week. Tonight I finally made my own hand/electronic wipes using 70% alcohol. I've been meaning to do it for a couple of weeks.

I cut Kirkland baby wipes in half. poured alcohol over them and put them in the packs that the store bought hand wipes originally came in. I've seen comparable wipes on Amazon for 25 cents per wipe. My homemade ones cost about 3 cents per wipe. I also cut my Kirkland facial towelettes in half and put them in the container I decorated and keep on my bathroom shelf. Since I don't wear make up, I can usually use half a towelette.

Have a good night my friends.

Today I’m taking younger granddaughter to the “Touch-A-Truck” event in town, where they will have fire engines, construction trucks… All kinds of vehicles

Since my granddaughter is so big into investigating different textures and climbing on things, this will be right up her alley

Morning all folks....well the storms they predicted stayed away from me, not
a drop of rain or blast of lightning....hope the lawn guy comes today....setting here wondering about the squirrels sense of taste, they all loved the whole unshelled peanuts I put out for them, but I decided it made to much of a mess for me to clean up the shells...so bought a bag of un-shelled peanuts, and guess
what, they really take their time eating them, just as if they don't care for the bare nuts at all..!!!!o_O

Honesty my neighbour outs out unshelled peanuts.. and the birds drop them all over my garden..it's real nusiance...

Today it's overcast... we've had a little shower already... I've been and organised my big larder freezer in the barn this morning..

Last night I had a horrendous nightmare about the actions of my estranged husband... it woke me up with my. heart pounding out of my chest. It's been 2 years almost to the day when he did what he did which caused our break-up.. and I thought the nightmares had abated.. seems they haven't...

5 hours was mine and O/H's appts. back-to-back. Still very long. My eye doc covered my complete medical
history, took my blood pressure, gave me those dilating eye-drops, went through extensive testing with
eye-charts. Then, we spent time with my choosing 3 frames for distance, computer, and sunglasses. I don't
think it will take that long next time. I am a returning patient, thus the long visit.

@Pepper Yes. Go out. You might meet a cat that needs petting🐱🐈🐈‍⬛😺😽😾😻.

I'm home. It's hot. It was 91 at 11:30 with a feels-like temp of 100+. 91 was supposed to be our high temp today.

The lawn needs to be mowed, and it was my plan to do it as soon as I got home. Nope, nope, nopity nope. It's too hot.

There may be a trip to the garden center this afternoon for...what else?...mulch, of course. Or maybe flowers instead, depending on what's available. The harsh winter/spring this year killed my spiderwort, but so far there hasn't been any in either of the garden centers. Drat. It needs to be planted soon to establish roots to carry it through the coming winter. Did I say winter? Will we even have one ever again?

Well, the “touch a truck@ event was a middling success. (The kids climbing in this massive tow truck found the air horn, which—of course 😉— became very popular 🤪😂😁)

My granddaughter and I walked around several trucks and while she was mildly interested, she was done after about 30 minutes.

But she held my hand as we walked and a couple times she came up to me and either leaned up against me or gave me her version of a hug, which doesn’t happen often. So I have that memory to treasure. 😀

No we’re home and she’s playing in the hose.

I'm just about to go put dinner on..it's only 5.15pm but I'm hungry..

I have to tell you I sit next to the window in my little office room.. and see everything going on outside by default.. and my neighbour across the way makes me laugh to myself.. He has a hedge which is probably 12 feet high... either side of his front gate..

He has the right side all neat and tidy.. but the left side is about 2 feet higher than the left and ll woody and straggly and desperately needing topping..

he however, ( he's and ex cop in his 80's and still got all his marbles).. is out there maybe 2 days a week... with a pair of secateurs, and a big bin..clipping one twig, or one leaf a time...literally... He's making no progress at all....yet he's out there for hours..

I offered last summer to lend him my cordless Long reach Hedge trimmer if he needed it, and he thanked me, but never took up my offer.. ..he uses a short reach hedge trimmer on a long lead to trim the front of the hedges.. but he can't reach up high with that.. and in any case it worries me him using that hedge trimmer with the cable because he's very unsteady on his feet... but aside from me taking the long reach trimmer over there.. I can't force him to make his hedge any neater or safer for him..
