i will, shortly, get offline--do dishes. Then read and watch tv. If DD wants to watch some more 'Good Omens' on Prime i will.

Other wise i have a queue of mostly documentary series to start watching on both Netflix and Curiosity.

Recently renewed the Curiosity subscription. Had let it lapse because when i was first watching many of the shows did not have captions.

Turning the TV's captions on (and then off when back to regular channels was a hassle.

But that seems to be fixed now, likely will change to an annual subscription when first month ends. Will save 1/3 of what it costs paying monthly.

And of course will use my kindle to pop in on Social Media Sites in case something really interesting has come up.

@Kaila,, Some of the younger folk have stepped to set up tables & chairs.
They also furnish plastic forks, spoons , plates, & coffee, water or punch to drink.

Makes it much easier for us older folks.

I've made scalloped potatoes, ham loaf & blueberry bread to take.
Usually make some sort of pie to take ,,, got lazy this year.
That's all good to hear. Especially that some are doing a bit more, so that some others,
understandably, have earned the right to do less! 🤩☺️😊😀

Sounds like plenty to do, that you made the 3 items to transport and to contribute.
I predict that blueberry bread, will go quickly!👍

Enjoy yourself!

Good Good news.....no Branson today!

for us!!

Maisie, one of the other deejays, was there yesterday, just to hang around and skate. I asked Janeen (rink owner) if Maisie (or Kevin) were coming in to deejay Sunday and she said "Oh, well, I never asked them".

That's what I thought!!!! We want to quit Sundays, and she isn't even trying to find someone else to come in!!!

Anyway, Maisie can't make it, but right before we went to bed last night, Janeen texted me that Kevin would work today.

So now, maybe, she will keep in mind that we are not going to be there on Sundays much longer. LOL

☔ We got a rainstorm this morning. It's still coming down, but the worst of it has passed.

I'm hoping to back read posts later today. Until then, I'm planning on just being lazy for a while!

NOTE: I accidentally posted this on the wrong thread, earlier this morning! 😯

Was played like a dang fiddle today.

Neighbor half block down on the other side knocked at the door and asked if I had a ladder to get on top of his house.
Said there were limbs hanging from a tree and brushing against his roof.
Of course I do, happily walked the ladder down to his house and stood it against the roof line, ready to climb.

So this guy at least 20yrs younger than me, just stood looking at me and the ladder ...
... Said he's afraid to climb up on top of his house.
What ?!?!?! ... "Do you even have anything to cut the tree limbs with?"
Nope ... so I left and retrieved my gas powered pole saw.

Climbed my happy bum up on his house and cut the limbs for him.

THEN ... he mentioned leaves collecting here and there ... and while I was up there anyway ...
SOooo, asked if he had a broom?

That he had, tossed it up to me and I swept leaves from his roof.

You're welcome player
Send him a bill. Seriously.

We finally got to our MG rally today, some two hours late. The fellow on the gate seemed bemused by our arrival time. Joking with him, I said that I hadn't brought a note from my mother explaining my poor punctuality, but I can show him a photo on my phone. He was keen to see it:
Athelhampton 001.JPG
"Dear oh dear," he remarked then added that he was pleased that we made the effort despite our woes. He then kindly reduced our admission price by fifty percent.
What drama we had. The big tyre companies that advertise 24 hour cover have more hot air than my burst tyre. I tried three, all had an answering service, not a human voice to be heard. But one phone call to the fellow who takes care of the car with servicing and repairs, a one man band company, had him with us in about twenty minutes and on our way in another ten. Those big corporations could take a leaf out of his book when it comes to customer care.

I've been home for hours and staying cool indoors. It's only 93 but with a feels-like temp of 106. Everybody talks about the weather and, as usual, nobody does anything about it. Yada yada yada.

That type of heat for as many weeks, is seriously difficult to bear, as I know you know! 😳😣

I do understand that it maybe , or likely , or probably,:rolleyes::rolleyes:
will not be like any other year,
but when would the extreme heat, usually break and turn a corner, in your neck of the woods, there?

@Kaila July and August are usually hot months here so the heat isn't unusual or unbearable most of the time. It's the extreme, and I do mean extreme, humidity this time. We've also had a whole lot more rain this summer than usual. That doesn't help.

We lived in southeastern New Mexico/west Texas for many years, and a 100 degree day was no cause for concern because the humidity was between 8-10%. Believe me, there's a real difference in dry heat and the heat we experience in the southeast.

Who knows when it'll let up? Maybe in December? LOL

Thanks for that reply and the input!
That is true, you reminded me, that it's truly the humidity, that makes or breaks it for we humans!

December does seem like a safe bet....
But we can hope for sooner!

This is the problem we have here in the South of the UK... when it's hot it's unbearable because of the high humidity... people say to me , but how did you cope with the heat in Spain.. and I tell them, it's a completely different type of heat.. A much drier heat...so over there we can stand 90 plus temps, much more easily than we can stand 80 deg temps in the UK

That is very interesting, Holly. Is the air coming over the Mediterranean, less humid? Or is elevation a factor, there?
You know me, I am always curious.:geek::giggle:

Well, it doesn't matter much, I guess. We all do agree, that, it's just terribly uncomfortable whenever and wherever it's humid!!!!!

So…..when I posted this morning about it raining, and will do inside stuff…..
To myself, it amused me from what I said…..
I don’t have to fume about mowing grass, when it drys up…..
Don’t have to watch the weeds grow, when it’s too wet to pull them.
All I have to do is wait for the rain to stop…..then go outside for a walk, or just go outside and enjoy the grounds…..till then, will do inside stuff as usual.
WOW…..what a spill of beans this post is. 😉🥴🙃😄😁😆🥴.

A day off so I stayed in bed until 5:30. Maggiecat wouldn't allow me to stay there any longer because...breakfast!

The heat index today is supposed to be even higher than yesterday. The lawn won't get mowed today, either, and except for an early turn around the garden, I'll be indoors thinking of something constructive to do.

When it rained all day one off day last week, I (gasp) dusted and vacuumed. I dunno what to do today. There's laundry, but that doesn't take much effort. Maybe reorganize the closet again? I'll either think of something or spend the day contemplating my navel.

What about y'all? Anybody have any bright ideas about how to spend a day indoors?

ETA: Wow. After all the rain we've had, from what I can see from the teeny, tiny patio, the garden is positively lush with greenery and flowers. About to get dressed and get a closer look. I'll pretend the weeds are just part of the greenery :)

Wondering & worrying about sister in law.
She is having issues with her back which must be affecting the use of one of her legs.

This is the lady whose sons have been ill.
One is hospitalized, still unable to talk ,,right side paralyzed.

Her favorite cousin & his wife were to stay with her for a few days this week.
They are from Texas, usually are seeing other family members while here.

Trying to plan my day around the unexpected.
Should I clean up the house ,, what to plan for meals.

Step one,, wake up the dog ,, take our walk.
Do my morning routine.

It's 18°C currently. It's a dreadful Monday, sorry I dislike Mondays and on top of that it's the 14. Double yuck lol!

I don't know where to post this, so I'll give it a go here. I'm currently trying to figure out what could have happened circa 2007... but it's when I saw things changed with hubby. Twas subtle at first, but then after our son died a decade later, it all fell apart.

I sincerely believed that where we were living at the time was taking its toll not only on myself but our kids and hubby. Then after we lost our son, I believed that he took it hard. Maybe as far as blaming himself. I don't know... in my heart I still loved him but for the last 15 years it felt one-sided only.

Overall, we were living together, there were kisses and hugs, but beneath the surface, I felt the love of my life was in turmoil. I miss love, I miss kisses, cuddles, conversation and company but some people frown upon that it's too soon after his death to date again. Simply, I'm confused dot com.

Any of you been through something similar? Don't know if I'll get answers from doctors either. Need help or at least guidance? Thanks!

@Supernatural Have you tried Googling online help? I don't know that any of us are qualified/knowledgeable enough to provide any meaningful help.

Ugh. Our feels-like temp is already 103 and projected to be 110 or more. I could have gone all day without being told that🥵

I did waltz around the garden earlier, and it looks positively tropical. I tried not to see the weeds, but I did and pulled some of them. Got smart and stopped pulling them when the mosquitoes got to be as abundant as the weeds. Thank heaven for AfterBite!
