@Georgiagranny ... no pictures . I didn't leave the house yesterday, I've got a chest infection..:(

I still have it today.. slept very badly last night trying to get my breath... but it's not quite so bad today as it was yesterday.

I may go out and have my nails done, and wear a mask... it's mid-day and sunny, and I'm trying to decide whether going out will make me feel better ..

At the doctor on Tuesday my BP was 70/40. Now I know part of the reason for my shaking: I'm about to faint! I think I may need my own BP kit at home. I'll ask Santa (DIL). I can wait till Xmas. I went to doctor to get gel shot in left knee. It worked! Except.........doc added a steroid and my Blood Glucose jumped to almost 400! It settled now, back to "normal".........the BP episode was quite scary but explained a lot of my daily "symptoms" of living.

Yesterday. Picked up grandson at real public school kindergarten. It went well. I was warned it gets chaotic, but I saw none of that. Feel much better now. Developing real relationship with my grandson. An "incident" happened later between grandson & his mommy. Blew up to screaming fit. I "interfered" and settled things beautifully, but I think dil sees it differently. Maybe I'll talk more about this later, the scene was very disturbing. However, I'm grandma, I'm mother-in-law so......

Today, must pick up so many meds have to go to several pharmacies. My "war" with CVS.

On my early walk at 6:15, certainly felt like fall, temp was 53 as I went to buy local paper
This morning I have a meeting at my church with a staff member,a church member who is going to replace me in 2024 in a volunteer job
I have been our church flower co ordinator since 2017 how it works, 3 church members can share any Sun except during Lent&Xmas The members contact me who want to donate flowers, I take down their info which Sun they want,. I relay their dedication to another staff member, notify the local florist we use. There is a list of members who are on the yearly list, meaning they have the same date/dedication every year they always go first
So far this yr, 3 times our ministers have forgotten to verbally acknowledged the person giving the flowers during the announcements which has left me angry/frustrated. I feel it is disrespectful/embarrassing to person who gave flowers, esp when the person was in church The person may think twice about giving flowers in the future, can't blame them. I sent email to our senior pastor with my frustration ,told him,2 months ago 'I've given this job my all, but I've had enough' He has apologized to me
I'm thrilled with the woman who is replacing me because she is my#1 choice. I'm going to explain to her in detail what the job is all about, wish her well
Afterwards, walking to Walgreens which is a block from church, need couple items,

As a new member of SF I have been reading this thread the most. Since I retired in 2009 I was fully occupied every day with caring for my mom who died this year in March.

All the rest of this year I've been trying to figure out what people do when retired, trying to discover what I should be doing with my days remainiing. I still haven't figured it out. But, I am working at it with the inspiration and example of those who've contributed daily to this thread. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

I finally finished cleaning the blinds...a task I started last week. I only had 15 slats on the front side to go. I figured out an easier way to do it than last week. I just used paper towels sprayed with degreaser and there was no need to rinse. Needless to say the process went much faster. But one of the slats popped out because a piece came off. My son was able to pop it back in but it wouldn't stay when rotating the blinds. Good thing I have an extra box of blinds readily accessible behind the couch from which he replaced the damaged one.

I made a couple of calls one to Harbor Freight and the other to Home Depot to find out if they had a 10 year sealed, single unit smoke and carbon monoxide detector, the new requirement by the state and management. The fire inspector that came told me exactly what to get. The Home Depot not far from home had it. My son picked it up after work and installed it tonight. The managing agent had called in the afternoon saying she'll (they'll) be back tomorrow. I'm glad we were able to install it today, thus avoiding a fine.

Of course I watched T.V., napped, talked with my BFF and played some games: WWF2, Mahjong, Cody Cross and Find The Difference puzzles.

@hollydolly That Gypsy caravan is something!
@bobcat ..how long does it take to do the wood burnings? The colors look nice and add some depth to the fish.
The wood burnings can vary from maybe 2 hours for a simple line drawing type to about 6 hours for ones with a lot of shading and detail. There is just something about it that's fun, burning an image onto a piece of wood. It's also very relaxing.

Update - baby grandson seems to have recovered completely. Ah, the magical resilience of young bodies! Thank you all for your kind words and concern over this. He's so precious to me. 💙❤️💙

Now that autumn is edging in, business obligations are slowing down. A few specialty orders will come in over the next few months, but the big pushes are over for 2023. It's the same rhythm every year. Early spring: gear up for summer sales. July & August: replenish out-of-stocks.

@Robb.hisself I never could figure out how transition from working to retirement so here's what I've done every time I've retired: gone out and got a job. Yup. It has worked out just fine. I've retired many many times since 1990 and now have lots and lots of experience at lots and lots of stuff. I don't much feel like retiring again so I'll probably work until I'm old.

@bobcat This is my idea of a "simple line drawing" and it would for sure take me two hours if not for my computer: __________________________________ 😉

In case anybody is wondering, I'm still in jammies but have had breakfast. Breakfast was a cup of coffee, a cookie and a couple of pieces of Dove dark chocolate. Bless me for I have sinned...and keep on sinning...I don't read the platitudes on the inside of the Dove wrappers. Nope. The people who dream up that stuff have too much time on their hands.

Started raining about 4:30 this morning.
So…..went out for Mickis’ chores…..she only got little chores done, not her big chore……she was diddling……we were getting wet…..came in…..have to go out again when the rain has stopped or let up……no walk in yet.

I should explain our what word phrases mean…..because they are different with Micki.
Usually you say out for pee……out for poo.
Nope, not for her.
Out for little chores, which means, pee…….out for big chores, which means poo……that’s what she was taught and raised on.
The person I got her from……raised all of her little ones with this phrase…..and have stuck to it.

My other ones have responded to the usual phrases.🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾.

Will do inside stuff today, try and fit walks in when it’s not raining.
Got some really nice baskets delivered yesterday, so will fill those, and put them on the shelves in the large bathroom…..
Stay tuned for pics.

I know…..I said I would never buy storage containers ever again……but these are baskets, that’s different. 😉.

Love your line drawing, simple but elegant...... and yes, if Dove Dark Chocolate is a sin, then there is no doubt where I'm going. It is second only to Dark Chocolate Brownies. I have a long-standing love affair with those.

Well, I gotta say, right now I’m proud of myself

I just came from the monthly book club meeting at our local library. Previous times, there have been 1-2 ladies that just monopolize the conversation and I’d come away feeling resentful at them and upset with myself for allowing myself to be cowed into silence.

I decided ahead of time not to hold it against then but also to be more assertive in getting a word in. And it worked! I wasn’t rude, but I spoke up more and we had a lovely discussion. 😊😊😊

I've seen some very fine and very expensive art work done in wood burning. Keep up practicing it. You may become famous and wealthy one day.

A good habit to get into. Assumptions can lead to many wrong conclusions. Best advice I've gotten so far is to push yourself and get out there more often. You will be surprised with what you find.👌

A sad day for me. We are expecting Hurricane Lee and I am being forced to chop my cherry tomato plant into pieces and then remove it from my balcony before a neighbour gets hit by a flying plant! I was expecting a bumper crop this year, now I have to bag the mutilated plant and put it in the garbage instead. It is way too big to shelter it in my front room! I removed some of the larger (relatively) tomatoes, hoping they might ripen off the vine but I am not really a gardener so nothing might happen there!

That's a shame! Be sure to savor the rescues.
