A sad day for me. We are expecting Hurricane Lee and I am being forced to chop my cherry tomato plant into pieces and then remove it from my balcony before a neighbour gets hit by a flying plant! I was expecting a bumper crop this year, now I have to bag the mutilated plant and put it in the garbage instead. It is way too big to shelter it in my front room! I removed some of the larger (relatively) tomatoes, hoping they might ripen off the vine but I am not really a gardener so nothing might happen there!
I feel for you and your well raised tomato crop…..very disheartening…..all the care that went into it.

Ripen the green tomatoes inside a paper bag.

Be safe!

Or is that a stupid question?
Of course not! It the trapped gas that helps ripen. Try a shoebox. In a breathable bag or box In order to speed up the ripening process, all you need to do is trap the ethene gas in with the tomatoes by putting them in a paper bag, cardboard box or empty kitchen drawer. Add a ripening banana or apple, which will also give off ethene to help things along.:)

Well it's past 8.30pm...it's dark, I've just been chatting with my neighbour..

I was wearing a mask just in case I've got the lurgy... she's just told me that my other neighbour has died.. of Liver cancer, age just 43 years old.
I can't believe it. The neighbour who died was such a sweet girl, she had absolutely time for everyone, she never was in a sour mood, or had a bad word to say, she and my estranged o/h were on great terms with each other, she'd send us a Xmas card every year, we'd send one back to her and her partner, and a separate one for her 'baby' a little terrier dog whom she adored.. and who went everywhere with her .. ... liver cancer at 43..life is so cruel.. :(:(:(

Separate to that...I did got out today and get my nails done, and I did feel a whole lot better for it tbh...

I went to my own little town today rather than drive further out as I would normally to get my nails done.. and while I was in town, I went to the bar , and had a drink... 2 bars in fact.. one before I did some stuff.. and one after.. just so @Georgiagranny could have her photos ..:D:LOL:

Here's the first one out in the courtyard of the pub..now I have to tell you that someone says they can see chips on this table.. don't believe them.. I'm on a diet so I wouldn't have any chips..:devilish:🤫

🫣

It really puts one’s own life in perspective.

Is your elderly neighbour who had to move to a residence still alive? An did his house sell? Maybe I asked you this before. He seemed like a feisty old fellow.

He's still alive , funnily enough we were just talking about him, because my neighbour I was talking to just now lives in the house between mine and his..

He's 103 years old, he's in a Nursing home, but he's not active.. he's just waiting to die...so his son told me... ..his house has not sold yet..it has subsidence, so it needs a lot of work done on it first,.

Lemme tell ya one of the things that was helpful way back in the way back when I was a real oinker. One day a week was a cheat day. Wednesday because there was a Woolworth store with a lunch counter across the street from the office, and on Wednesday their special was two red enchiladas/rice/refried beans with shredded lettuce and chopped tomato. They were very small enchiladas, but enchiladas nevertheless. A colleague and I would have lunch there every Wednesday. It wasn't much of a cheat, but it felt like it to me because I was on a 1000 calorie-a-day diet.

If not for that one day a week, I don't know if I'd have made it. Having those enchiladas to look forward to saved me.

How "oinky" was I? When I walked my thighs rubbed together. It was in the days of dresses and panty hose being required in the office. In the desert heat, I always had heat rash on my thighs because I had to wait outside the building for Whatsisname, The Father of My Children, to pick me up after work and because on Wednesdays my colleague and I walked across the street for lunch.

So...treat yourself @hollydolly, but judiciously.

I just realised you might all wonder how I didn't know my young neighbour was sick.. I should have said in my earlier post... about 3 months or so after my O/h and I split up.. she also split with her partner, he kept the house and still lives there , and she left to live with someone else.. .. so I hadn't heard or seen her for about 18 months

I mostly had a good day. Dio's procedure was only about 45 minutes this time.....much better than the 2 hours, last time! He said that the yellow jacket sting on his ankle hurt more than his chin did. Afterward his procedure, he felt good enough to go to the gym. (I had an excellent workout!). Then we went to our favorite restaurant (Rubin's) and had a delicious dinner.

Once we got home I did waaaaay too much work outside. Now I'm over tired, and crabby!!!

Bedtime, soon! Good night! 😴💤💤💤

Where is everybody? The day is half over!

I have to work alone this morning. Alone😭 Working alone is hard, and even when there's someone else there, four hours just ain't enough to get the job done. Not gonna go back to working five hours, though. Old people get tired!

When I clock out, I need to pick up a few things and would rather pay more at Kroger than have to wade through Walmart.
