Yes, I watch the Rookie, but I love Rookie: Feds! I didn't think I would get hooked on the new series, but she just cracks me up! A heart of gold but believes in herself!
I like the Rookie Feds too...much better than I expected to. I like it, not only for Niecy Nash-Betts character Simone but because I like them as a team. I especially like their boss and that there have been several cross over episodes with The Rookies. Trivia, or you might know already..the woman that Simone became involved with for awhile is her wife in real life, Jessica Betts, who is a singer. Niecy's previous marriage and relationship were with men. She has 3 children by her ex husband. I didn't realize she had been nominated for some prestigious T.V. awards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niecy_Nash

Some actors (regardless of show affiliation) have very impressive bios. Melissa O'Neil who plays Lucy Chen on The Rookie was highly favored by the judges when she competed in the Canadian Idol. Even after making some flubs she wound up in the top 10 and at the age of 17, she became the first female Canadian Idol winner. An excerpt from Wikipedia:
"Immediately after her win on Canadian Idol, O'Neil received a congratulatory phone call from the Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. She then signed a recording contract with Sony BMG Canada and released her first single "Alive", which hit stores on October 4, 2005 and debuted at number one on the Canadian singles chart, a position it held for four weeks. The single went on to be certified four-times platinum by the CRIA." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melissa_O'Neil

I'll be messaging you about some of the plot lines in these shows so we can discuss them, if you don't mind. :D

@OneEyedDiva, so happy you were able to the attend the event. The world is just out of hand right now. I do not blame the possibility that the event might be cancelled if a threat was made. The most important thing is the safety of all. I look forward to seeing the other photos you can share.
Thank you! I'll PM you when they are ready. I was apprehensive about going at first but after my son spoke with the organizer, something told me everything was going to be alright; I put it in God's hands. But no matter where I go, I check out spots I might be able to hid in should shooting begin. Of course, my first thought would be to make sure my son is out of harms way...and I'm sure that would be his about me.

6am, I woke up feeling rather 'frisky', had my cornflakes and two mugs of tea, looked out of the window and thought, "Y'know what, Tim old Son, this may be the morning that you go for that 10 mile hike." Then the rain started, so I just went to the corner shop, and came back knackered. 😊

Excellent decision making old bean. You deserve another cuppa :)

In the middle of storm 'Otto'. Trees down, roads closed, travel disrupted etc... My little lean-to greenhouse has been badly damaged - broken glass all over the place, but otherwise I think we're OK. The house has stood for almost 200 years, so it's not going to be blown away now!
Not sure what to do with the greenhouse. I've got plenty of spare glass and polycarb panes, but I'm not sure whether I'll fix it or remove it. It cost me nothing.

Still very windy here, but it's forecast to ease off from mid afternoon. I've cleared up the broken glass but I won't do anything more outside today.
Wind gusts of 120 mph were recorded on Cairn Gorm mountain in N.Scotland and around 30,000 houses are without power in E.Scotland and N.E. England. Quite a few flight delays and cancellations at Aberdeen airport, but things seem to be returning to normal.

Helping to make a leek pie for dinner. Not truly vegetarian, but no meat. I don't mind the odd vege meal, but I feel that they often take more preparation.

I read that the North was going to have some storms, apparently even going to get as far down as Lincoln.. .. has it calmed down yet ?...

It’s raining here today. My wife and 3 of her friends have gone on a bus trip, so I am alone until tomorrow. They left on Monday, so I have been eating at diners for the past few days. Cooking is not my forte. They went down to Myrtle Beach to play golf, of all things.

Hollydolly, not sure how far south the storms got, but there are power outages in Northumberland and Durham.

On a more positive note, I've received £200 Alternative fuel allowance because we don't have mains gas. Some places pay it directly, but others pay it as a credit against the electricity costs.
My daughter lives in the Fens, so when she calls tonight on her way home from work as she usually does on a Friday I'll find out if they got as far as her..

Good news about the £200... (y)

I woke up late, for me, 6am & couldn't get out of my glorious mattress till 6:30. So, off to a slow start at doing nothing. It's raining heavily out there. I'm in no rush. Want to read today. Worried about grandson; yesterday had fever of 103, today 102, no other symptoms, dr. could not give diagnosis. He's just sick, no strep, covid. Doc said virus, generically. So, I'm concerned till he gets better.

How do you normally heat your home? We have natural gas. My heating bill runs about $1600 a year. We have a 4000 or so square foot home, not including the basement, which is also finished and is another 1500 square feet, but is heated by electric. You have to be low income to get help paying your utilities.

As I've mentioned, I dialed back my exercise this month. Yesterday I felt ready to increase my time a bit. I did something to my back. Just goes to show me how important it is to keep exercising!

I feel confident that it will get better, but it affects my plans for the next day or so. So today:

Exercise (avoid aggravating my back)
Clean and vacuum bedroom
Swiffer bare floors in apartment
Cook meat that's been marinating
Rest and read Schopenhauer
Talk to language partner in evening

I had planned to clear sNOw off my car, and shovel around my car. But it would be too hard on my back. This means that tomorrow I'll either walk to the restaurant where I meet my local language partner, or ask him to pick me up. I think walking would be nice. (I'll ask him to drive me home.)

I appreciate having this thread where I can write my plans for the day. If I write it, I'm more likely to do it.

Welp. Short nap didn't help, probably because I had the Kelly Clarkson show on TV, and she was holding a cute little sloth...my spirit animal🦥. Maybe I could get one and have it designated as an emotional support animal.

Now I'm gonna try a cup of coffee and the last two scones.
I think sloths are cute too...especially the cartoons and GIFs they make of them. Too bad you couldn't get one as a support animal. :D
