That would be a millionaire's mansion in the UK and would cost a King's ransom to heat . UK houses are small, overpriced and cost a King's ransom to heatHow do you normally heat your home? We have natural gas. My heating bill runs about $1600 a year. We have a 4000 or so square foot home, not including the basement, which is also finished and is another 1500 square feet, but is heated by electric. You have to be low income to get help paying your utilities.
..and that's barely a joke. Just to make it clear to non Brits, that doesn't mean the house is cheap.. instead it reflects just how expensive Oil is...That would be a millionaire's mansion in the UK and would cost a King's ransom to heat . Most houses use gas for heat and hot water. In many rural areas there is no mains gas, so many people use LPG, oil or wood / coal for heating and electric for cooking. My house is a modest 1400 sq. ft. which is a fairly normal size for the UK. I use oil (Kerosene) for heating and electric for cooking. I can double the value of the house by filling the oil tank.
Yes and thanks for the thought and only one jab ( hate the word needle for this). ..usually three and this time he did not hit a blood vessel so all in all still a bit sore but good enough to pop on to SF for a few minutes

For as long as I can remember……I have always wanted one for a pet.I think sloths are cute too...especially the cartoons and GIFs they make of them. Too bad you couldn't get one as a support animal.

All I know she's back at living her life, but I also know she has pain. Thanks for asking! Is there an update to share about how your dil is doing?
Why thank you Holly. I was produce manager in the town of Bainbridge, NY. Later promoted to assistant store manager. I think my mom took this picture. Thelma got her glasses adjusted and they feel so much better.Very handsome picture of you in your Avatar , Pappy..![]()
Gee, I never knew that. Honestly, I didn't. I hope I haven't come across as being some big shot, rich American. There are a lot of homes here in the U.S. that are the size of mine and much larger. I didn't mean to offend anyone and wasn't meaning to show off. I just didn't realize what I had compared to what's available in Scotland, so I apologize if I have offended anyone. I'm glad that I didn't tell everyone that I also had a pool in my backyard. I had a tennis and basketball courts in my yard also, but had them removed right after I bought this property. That would be a millionaire's mansion in the UK and would cost a King's ransom to heat . I'm sure no-one took offence at your comment 911.. nor do we think you're a Big shot American.. as my good friend, I know you much better than that...Gee, I never knew that. Honestly, I didn't. Just to be honest with you, don't think living here comes cheap keeping up our homes. Taxes are a killer. I pay over $7000 in taxes a year just in school tax. There is also a county tax and a municipality tax. All together, I am paying about $10,000 in taxes each year. And it won't stop there.
@911 I think it was casually mentioning the tennis and basketball courts that did itGee, I never knew that. Honestly, I didn't. I hope I haven't come across as being some big shot, rich American. Sorry about your damage @Capt Lightning. I always thought a greenhouse would be so fabulous to have! It would be nice to fix it I think, but if you do, you must be careful. In the middle of storm 'Otto'. Trees down, roads closed, travel disrupted etc... My little lean-to greenhouse has been badly damaged - broken glass all over the place, but otherwise I think we're OK. The house has stood for almost 200 years, so it's not going to be blown away now!
Not sure what to do with the greenhouse. I've got plenty of spare glass and polycarb panes, but I'm not sure whether I'll fix it or remove it. It cost me nothing.
Greenhouses are very popular in many people's gardens RR... I used to have one myself.. all my neighbours have one.. but I found it tedious whenever we had a storm to have to replace the glass, so I finally decided it wasn't worth it..Sorry about your damage @Capt Lightning. Love the new pic!!Good Morning Everybody! Just having my morning coffee and doing a bit of research. Later this morning, my friend is picking me up for a day out. Looking forward to that.
Absolutely no offence taken. Britain is a small overpopulated country. Land prices are generally high, so small houses are crammed on to small plots at obscenely high prices. Of course it varies over the country, but houses which are 4000+ sq feet are uncommon and expensive to buy and maintain. The average detached house in the UK is just less than 1600 sq ft.I'm sure no-one took offence at your comment 911.. nor do we think you're a Big shot American.. as my good friend, I know you much better than that...![]()
