Today our adult (62 years old) got hit by another vehicle as he grocery shopped for us. He is pretty sure our car is totaled. We are discovering one can't find a rental car in our town, and the type of car we are looking for in our budget is also hard to find. Thankfully he was not hurt that is the most important part!
So sorry to hear…..glad none were hurt.
Yes, looking for a vehicle can be very challenging…..hope you can find one soon, that fits your needs.

Yesterday, had my driveway cleared of sNOw…..the rest of the day was kind of a bust…..all over the place but didn’t seem to accomplish anything.
Today……one of the coldest days we’ve had, -33c, and I have to go out for a haircut and pick up a fill on some meds.
The rest of the day…..maybe get bundled up with a Pinacolada and take in some -33c sun…….NOT 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶….
Inside stuff today.

Today I had plans to do laundry which is quite a chore when it involves down and up, down and up in elevator etc., but my left knee is acting up very badly and it does not seem to like Voltarin at all so have to pop some Tylenol .
I am thinking it must have been that escape from the cops with @Georgiagranny the other night that did it.
No more night time prowling.

We have freezing rain and ice pellets in forecast so it will be my do absolutely nothing day with my usual pastime

It's (IKEA) not a bad places, but 65% of shoppers are "Window Shopping" it seems.
I only get there every other year or so, despite one being within 15 miles. Can't say I've ever left IKEA empty handed. Their kitchenwares department has great bargains on all manner of things, they sell healthy, inexpensive houseplants (great gifts), and their frozen veggie meatballs are reasonably priced and delicious. I always manage to find something I can use for myself or as a gift.

When my twins turned about 4 we got rid of the baby stuff, moved them into separate bedrooms and headed to IKEA. Found adorable captain's beds sets (dressers and cabinets underneath the bed) plus matching nightstands and bookshelves. It all lasted until the kids moved out roughly 20 years later.

We still use some of the dressers and cabinets for storage. One of the bookshelves is in my granddaughter's room, the other is in a guest room. Not bad for inexpensive furniture.

To me, IKEA is similar to Las Vegas. When my expectations are geared to the experience being offered, it makes for an interesting adventure.

What am I doing today? In addition to bemoaning the 86% likelihood of heavy rain, very cold temps and thunderstorms on the day/evening of our party? Haven't had serious rain in over a month, and THIS is the time it decides to show up? Am praying that the weather gods shift things a bit to bring the clear day on Saturday instead of Sunday.

Baby will be here today, but it's our final day with him this week. We need Thurs and Fri off for party prep.

No, I have not been to one. There is not one near me. I have never been to Whole Foods or Costco either. There isn't one of those around here either.
I suggest that you start saving now, in case they ever build a Whole Foods near you, because you'd need lots of extra money, in order to actually buy anything there.;):LOL::giggle:

But we could all just go there with you, and have some fun. That is, if they ever build one there. 🙃😄😆☺️

So far today I haven't done anything but get angry. I haven't been able to get into my online banking. My husband went to the bank to try to clear up the problem. They said I still had an active password and they told him what it was. So I went online to change my password. They said they would call me with a code so I could put a new one in. The phone number they had listed was my husband's cell phone. I called him to tell me when they sent the code. He said he just got a message and thought it was spam so he deleted it. So now I am going to look for some alcohol and drink my brains out.

@Mizmo So it was the cops we were running away from?

It's 75 and sunny here. Woohoo and stuff. Warm again tomorrow and what was supposed to be an all-day rain is now predicted at 30%. Suits me :)

Brother said they're expecting a blizzard with 20" of blowing and drifting sNOw❄️❄️🌬️ According to the weathernerds, it will have a "minor" impact on them. Minor because up there it's just another day in paradise. I'm willing to bet money that the schools won't even close.

The best news ever: New Lady won't be there anymore after Saturday! Her surgery has been scheduled. Of course, Sir couldn't/wouldn't mention anything about it except what she's already told all of us. If/when she comes back, it won't be in the bakery. It means I'll have to work alone more. Fine. Easier to work alone than to try to teach somebody who doesn't want to learn. This news will also make Retired Lady happy, as she's just as frustrated as I am! Sir tried hard to hide his delight. It didn't work:D. To his credit, he didn't say anything unkind, just that she's no longer on the schedule.

@Sassycakes That surely does sound like a very terribly aggravating day. When they call you, with one of those numbers, it is only good for a couple of minutes, so you will need to get one, when you are right next to whatever phone number they are using. It is awfully frustrating, from start to finish. With Bad effect on anyone's day!

@Georgiagranny
That is terrific news, on the work front. I was afraid she'd never have any surgery, :sneaky:
but it seems she had to "schedule it " immediately, upon hearing that she was scheduled for a weekend day, this Saturday, which she said she wouldn't ever do.;)😄
That was a brilliant move, imo, whoever decided to schedule her for it.
(I am still not convinced she's having the surgery, but who cares....🙃😁☺️)
I don't wish her or anyone any harm, as its not in my nature, but she shouldn't be working.....maybe anyplace, but certainly not at the Bakery! 🤓)
Sounds like time to party!🤩🥳😎🤩🥳☺️

@Kaila Yeah...hip replacement? I'm thinking that's not likely, but what do I know? The job requires being on your feet/walking, there is no sitting down at all. Her shortest shifts have been four hours. A hip that needs to be replaced would allow that? She's never so much as limped, and her "I'm in so much pain" complaints haven't ever included pain in her hip.

Maybe it's for the liposuction and fanny/tummy/thigh tuck that the BF told her he'd pay for. But an 80 year old BF who has already (according to her) said she's too young for him wanting her to look younger? And the BF's 60 year old DD isn't fond of the idea of a GF that much younger than he is, either.

Or maybe there is no 80 year old BF who has money to burn.

Maybe it's a con? Or maybe she read the writing on the (bakery) wall?

Whatever it is, I'm just relieved that I'm not expected to "train" her anymore.

Wow! I just looked at our weather. It's 82F here.

and take in some -33c sun…….NOT
That's about what it was here yesterday. I'm not used to the concept of "clear and cold." So, since it was nice and sunny yesterday, I went out in the evening in my indoor clothes plus just my little vest. Not even hat or mitts. Yikes, cold! But I was just walking across the parking lot, so I was okay.

Today is a FAIL. I'm still in bed. Fighting this SAD (seasonal affective disorder/winter blahs) is just too hard sometimes. Oh well, could be worse, right?

I feel pretty sure that she (the bakery co-worker) was getting tired of having people at work, expecting her to do some work......

even before she was scheduled for one Saturday.....☺️

*****
Here at the home front, we had no hot or warm water, for hours today :cry: which makes my life extra difficult.....

(and with no prior notice or explanation)

Upon calling, was told, it would be fixed sometime.....something to that effect, is what it boiled down to.
Renting has some advantages, but you usually can't get any information about anything. 🤔😑

If the power goes out, in our storm due tomorrow, we will not know if it'll be fixed in a couple of hours, or a couple of weeks...... it makes it hard to plan or decide what to do, in that case....:rolleyes:o_O

But luckily, I am in no mood to panic. I just don't have the energy for it.
And besides, I think there is a Good-bye Party being planned, for someone who's leaving their job, which I will want to attend. 😁🤩🥳

Oh gosh, I definitely know that feeling!
You've been fighting the good fight with that; perhaps it's time to take a break from fighting it, and hide and rest, and then, decide on a simple and short action plan, for today.
