What are you doing today 2023

I always tip my garbage man too. I met up with him last year as the garbage truck came up the road, with his tip. He has been with this garbage service for 30 years and they always need more help. One day I saw the owner, a young woman who took over this family business, and she handled throwing my garbage bags into the truck, and then she drove the truck to the next stop up the hill. Once in a while she has to handle an entire route.

I got a little extra sleep this AM and have to prepare to mail a few gifts and Christmas cards and begin to decorate the house.

Haven't thought about my main meal yet, but there is some left over goulash that might be enough.

It is a dreary day but that light rain could have been SNOW!

I need them to fix or replace the exhaust , and do the other repairs that are needed before Wednesday night, because I need the car to get me to hospital on Thursday morning ... I hope they can do that.. but he seemed a bit taken aback when I said that to him... however, I did call them last week to try and book it in, but they were the ones who told me to bring it in today.. so I've not been able to use the car since last Wednesday
The exhaust shouldn’t cost much more than 500 dollars (400 pounds). As far as other repairs, it depends on the shop. You might hold off on other repairs unless absolutely needed and get another opinion. A good place to find what is needed is a dealer - have them do a complete inspection. Then take the vehicle to a more affordable place for the repair. Dealers are familiar with your car’s specific problem areas whereas some shops might just “experiment” on your car when they are not sure what is wrong, charge you, and not even fix the problem - it has happened to me!

yes good advice. I have the car fully serviced every year.. and when I took the car into this new place this morning, he asked me if they should do the service, and I said no... just leave it until we get these repairs done, and I'll have it done in the New Year...Point being that I want to see how they treat me with regard the Exhaust, and the few other repairs that need doing first..

Good Morning/Afternoon Dear Peeps

Sorry I have not visited lately but last couple of weeks have been very upsy downsy for me and I just felt I could not come on and moan about it. Just tried to keep myself upbeat with the funny side of things.

Fact is my car door bashed me on the head when I was unloading from passenger side and I needed ambulance etc etc.
Blood everywhere.
No stitches...forehead has no fat so just ripped skin and lump
Won't go into details. You don't need to hear them. Feeling better now.

Oh my goodness, @Mizmo .. that was bad! So glad to hear you are feeling better 🤗

We are going out for the entire day, as our water will be turned off for 8 hrs.
I've filled a stock pot with water, as well as the kettle and sink.
They've turned off the water to the 3 condos that are connected.
Aside from that, out hydro power keeps going off, at least once a week. I hope this isn't going to happen all winter :(

I have been through that several times .
Usually I am at home all day so when that happens I keep a thermos bottle filled with that hot coffee I need a couple of times in day. ..... oh yes...I also have two buckets which I fill and leave in bathtub to replenish water in toilet....uhuh , one flush and it is gone
Enjoy your day out

yes I do the same. Fill the thermos with a hot drink... fill a couple of buckets with cold water for flushing the loo and the bath half filled as well .. and the kettle for any hot water requirements

I'm doing my least favorite thing in the world today...I'm going to the dentist this afternoon :( UGH! We have winter storm warnings posted for this afternoon so I hope it holds off until I get back.

@Mizmo.....hope you're feeling better. Bet you had a doosey of a headache
Yes was a bit of a thumper but. It passed. Main concern was lump and possible concussionSeeing_Stars___.gif

Gimme a trophy🏆. I dusted! And wrapped the last Christmas gift and got the ceramic tree out and also found an angel decoration that my Best Aunt gave me. Put the angel out, too, because she's cute and all decorated with pearls and glitter and stuff.

Maybe I should also blue my hair today. It's looking more and more white and less and less blue. Can't be a blue-haired old lady with white hair.

Glad it wasn't more serious, @Mizmo. Just needing an ambulance and ER visit is enough to strike terror in one's heart though.

Same old story for me today. More baking. No little grandson because of scheduling conflicts on my part. We'll have him Thurs & Fri instead, a very good thing because he started running a 102 fever on Friday.

Kids in daycare and preschool turn into little petri dishes where all the germies are happy to grow. Unfortunately, those bugs don't stay contained to the younger set.

We went to our 11 year old grandson's school's orchestra presentation last Thurs (he's taken up the violin and loves it). ❤️

DH, DD, DSIL, DGD and I were among the very, very few to be masked. An auditorium with approx 400 people sitting cheek-by-jowl in an area of the country where hospitalizations for Covid and other respiratory illnesses are steadily rising?

I'll gladly wear a mask rather than add to the risk of being sick for Christmas. Been there, done that, and remember clearly how much it sucks.

My dinner with my friends was so fun! Everyone left at 10 and then it took me a hour to clean up and then I read for a hour to unwind. I’m really tired today. I don’t have the stamina that I used to.

I actually decorated early this year so everything has been up for a month. That’s because I ordered a new Xmas tree that was pre-lit. I had a month to return it if the lights didn’t work. So once I got all the branches down and looking good I decorated it.

Now I won’t have any more company until after Xmas and I am sick of looking at the decorations. I’m probably going to take everything down today.

I understand feeling exhausted after a social event. For the last year or so I've felt the same. If I have a social event..or a long day out.. I'm shattered the next day.

Once upon a time I could go on day after day like the energiser Bunny.. people always asked where I got my energy from.. but now this last year... not the same at all.

The thing is despite being in my late 60's.. I look much younger.. and so when I tell people, I'm sorry but I need the next day to rest.. they laugh and think I'm joking, because they forget I'm chasing 70...

It's overcast this morning, temp today may not come up above freezing.

Today, more tidying up the magazines & papers in my office & in our living room. Also, I've made a commitment to our board to write an email to a local biologist who wants to volunteer some time to our river & wetlands environmental group.

Last week, I was talking with a friend who is building himself a workshop. I said I'd help with the electrical wiring. I'm spending some time brushing up my memory of doing wiring, which I've done in a couple other buildings in the past. Need to make sure I'm up to date with current provincial-code requirements.
