Why do Men age much better than Women?

My theory is that women age faster after menopause and no longer need to attract the opposite sex to facilitate procreation, but men can sire offspring way beyond a woman's best years, hence the male's wandering eye.
I quite agree. It's no secret that men are most attracted to younger women. Why ? Men's DNA is the hard-wired driving factor. It is much more likely that healthy babies will be produced by younger women.
Moreover, signs of health and youth causes men to desire/select younger women. A major (natural) sign of youth and health is rosy cheeks.
Thus women have learned, over the eons, that rosy cheeks are healthful signs and they discovered cosmetics which mimic health. ie BLUSH.

Primarily, women refuse to eat a balanced diet for fear of gaining a lb. Skin/complexion is fed from within. Starve it for years and it will show.

Also, society demands that women fight the ageing process, to try to create the illusion of youth, and in doing so bring much harm to themselves - hours in the sun/tanning bed for the perfect tan ..... smoke to curb appetite ... bombard the skin with dangerous chemicals (make up, salves and ointments) ..... wear college girl hairdos (long, center part) and crayola red lipstick which emphasize a crepey neck.

I thought it was obvious why women look older than men. It's because they have to put up with men.
I'm quite surprised that the male bashing hadn't started before post #20. Can you imagine the raw outrage if some poor fool made a female bashing comment?

Perhaps they are used to taking criticism and tend to let go of the garbage more readily.

I was looking at old TV shows and in almost all of them, the Men look just as handsome older as they looked younger, sadly the women didn't. I wonder why!
Be aware, the cover picture is misleading...the adult pictured is NOT Susan Olsen who played the girl. If you watch the video you will see how she actually looks. I am always wary when video creators do this.....WHY???

I agree with all of the above, but I'd add in the psychological factor. What we think about can have a huge impact on how we look.
In the case at hand, young women know that they are totally in control of the mating dance. As women age, they begin to realize that they no longer are in complete control. Thus, reality, gets thru to them and they "age".

I don't know the answer to the question. I'm not even sure it's a valid question. It may just be a straw man argument.
As I'm having trouble on other threads with types of arguments, I thought it might be worth reminding everyone what a "strawman argument" is said to be:
https://www.grammarly.com/blog/straw-man-fallacy/

Quote:
"A straw man argument, sometimes called a straw person argument or spelled strawman argument, is the logical fallacy of distorting an opposing position into an extreme version of itself and then arguing against that extreme version. In creating a straw man argument, the arguer strips the opposing point of view of any nuance and often misrepresents it in a negative light.

The straw man fallacy is an informal fallacy, which means that the flaw lies with the arguer’s method of arguing rather than the flaws of the argument itself. The straw man fallacy avoids the opponent’s actual argument and instead argues against an inaccurate caricature of it. By doing this, the straw man fallacy is a fallacy of relevance, because with it the arguer doesn’t engage with the relevant components of their opposer’s position."

Grahamg comment:
Now, exactly who is supposed to be using a strawman argument?

I think it might be your good self, (but I may be wrong?).

The thread title and OP seem to me to be the opinions of the author, (and fairly obvious ones).

You have made an unfair comparison in comparing movie stars to regular people. Also, a tendency to look younger than others of the same age, depends on many things such as heredity, wealth, occupation, diet, personal hygiene and lifestyle.

Aren't there face creams that reduce aging? My ex wife is Irish and was always worried about her skin aging, so she religiously used some greasy Mary Kay goop on her face every night.

It worked, for her . She is 70 now and looks about 50.

That's great. I always wonder if those anti-aging creams work. We see them everywhere.
I'm just trying to replenish my body w/all the hormones I'm losing. 🤞
