The reason for nose rings ?

If people want to adopt another culture's face adornment,
then it is their choice. In the West though, rings in the nose
may look cute on a young person but on an older person ...
nah.
My daughter had a tiny diamond stud in her nose during her
Uni days. When she entered her professional life, she
removed it.
I'm curious as to why people are accepting of "adopt another culture's face adornment" but everyone goes ballistic when someone had cornrows in their hair and it's not of their culture? Is that not also "cultural appropriation"?

Personally, I don't care about piercings that people do except when it's excessive. I've seen people with piercings in their eyebrows, nose, lips, ears and tongues (I'm talking all of these on ONE person) and it just makes me queasy.

That's a difficult one. You see because cornrows started way back
3000 BC (prehistoric). It was then adopted by Africans, and then later
the Vikings adopted it. It would seem it belongs to everyone.

I was thinking I might try this arrangement of rings. But realized if I did, my blood thinners would make me bleed to death. o_O

That surely cannot be for real!

I suppose the urge to do these things is a tribal thing of some kind. To be part of an imagined sub- group. I would be interested in any academic studies about the whole phenomena.
All I can say is that it is all a lot more prevalent now than ever.

I have a variety of small nose studs. I have worn them since I was in my twenties. If I need a change, I also have several small nose rings. I love them. Yes, I also wear them to work, a fitting accompaniment to the stacks of silver bangles on my wrists, and my frequent workwear choice of colourful embroidered Pakistani two piece suits. I believe many of my clients feel more at ease with a bohemian therapist.

What a lovely happy post, that cheered me up and made me smile. Also, a reminder of "The Bangles", they put out some good songs, like"Manic Monday" and this one...

If you are voluntarily going to NAKED BIKE RIDES, looking at bikers private parts, it’s no wonder you are seeing the things you’re seeing but you’d have to be really GAWKING at those particular areas to see what you are seeing.

I’m more surprised that you are surprised.

It’s an easy fix. If you don’t wish to see that then don’t go to these types of events and stop looking at peoples private parts.
Gosh life is never that interesting where I am. Thankfully.

Just another fad that sooner or later i hope people quit .... some think it makes them look fun and adventurous and stand out but with as many as there are now ........ you are just one in the crowd .......
ever seen one of these girls with a cold .........not pretty often area around it gets red and looks bad............
and nothing about possible infection equal Sexy in my book.
I wondered about that. Seems sort of "gross" when you're having a cold or sinus infection. Probably best not get into too many details.😩

I’ve had cornrows put in my hair when I went to Jamaica and it seemed like most people liked it. It’s just a hairstyle after all.

Just somebody clarify for me again please? Why am I seeing so many people, especially young women, who have not just one but often several rings bristling from their noses?

I want to believe there is a reason for everything.

I understand a ring for a bull's nose makes it more controllable for farmers to lead. That makes sense.
hey, ya gotta booger on your face

How does other peoples nose rings or any other body piercing possibly hurt you?
You don’t like them so don’t get it done.
Others do like them, so get it done.
It’s not a difficult concept to understand.
You might like beer so buy some and drink it.
Others might not like beer so don’t drink it.
Same concept! 🤷‍♀️
I don't think they were looking to get one.
Why so defensive?
Its just a conversation. If someone knew and shared, that would be helpful, wouldn't it?

Spot on Old Salt, they are all just talk. Can you imagine them walking down the aisle or going around the supermarket with one as presented in the pictures? 😆😆 Additionally, I will not even wear a ring, my body is a temple.

Body mutilation is wonderful in public, bare and beautifully formed breasts are disgusting and perverted. What a funny old world.
Good point, Avon.

As it happened six of the riders, all girls started playing about and all collided in a twisted heap at my feet, must be the effect I have on people
Good point, Avon.
But these naked woman with rings in their private parts aren’t walking around in grocery stores. Apparently they are ALL piled in a twisted heap at his feet. All 6 of them at the same time. ( there bikes suddenly vanished ) .. lol

🤥 …….

Thank God for that!
There are just some things that need to be covered up! especially in grocery stores!

I find it, with kids these days, its more of following what the others are doing, not tied to religion or tribal following.
I think many times, its done to stand out, be unique, to identify with something to make themselves memorable to others. I think its a negative attribute to traditional men depending on what and where its located.
