Today was a busy day that tired me out, so I took a longer than anticipated nap in the early evening. I went downstairs and did laundry about 3:45 a.m. and for once I started drying my clothes before sunrise. It finally dawned on me that it's unlikely my neighbors can hear my dryer, which is in the kitchen. I put almost all of the clothes away, something that usually doesn't happen on laundry day.
I had a brief conversation with my BFF and did some online stuff while waiting to see if my 2nd package from Amazon would arrive at the hub today. Luckily it did before noon. First I headed downtown to the "99 cent" store to get a new bag for my new system of bringing the laundry upstairs....a fresh garbage bag into smaller bags with handles, instead of the big, bulky plaid laundry bags. While I was in there an irate customer was cursing and threatening to beat the hell out of the cashier because he didn't want to accept a return that the man said was damaged when he bought it. I'm glad the issue was cleared up before I got to the register.
Then picked up my packages from the hub and walked to the supermarket to get a few items. There I met a woman and we had a very interesting conversation about spirituality versus organized religion, politics, why she doesn't vote and why I do, not being judgmental of others, our diabetes diagnosis and management. We talked for quite awhile when I complimented her on her beautiful skin. She thanked me saying I made her day because she's been depressed due to some family issues and her living situation. I told her I hope things get better and to be kind to herself.
Then I mentioned my music, which has been referred to as "soul soothing" and she told me to write my website on her soda box (I didn't have my cards with me) because she loves music and is anxious to hear my songs. She also said she felt she learned a lot from me. We wound up exchanging numbers. Here's the amazing part...even though our names are not common by any stretch...they are almost the same! The first two syllables are identical...hers just has one letter mine doesn't and is missing an additional syllable which mine has.
We were so engrossed in conversation, I wound up being out longer than I had planned, but luckily traffic hadn't gotten crazy yet. When it does, it's hard to even cross the street. I didn't do all I had planned..I never do...but I think today was a good, productive day.
