I have an appointment this morning with the eye Dr. because I've had a black spiderweb looking veil over my left eye. I've also been seeing some flashes of light in the corner.
According to Dr. Google this is an urgent matter, possibly detached retina. Hoping it's a cataract.
Since I'll be out I'll run a bunch of errands.
If you're 'lucky' relatively speaking, it might be a PVD - Posterior Vitreous Detachment. These are very common as you age and generally cause no lasting harm. The problem, as happened me, is that as the vitreous humor detaches, it can tear the retina and cause bleeding in the eye.
Mine was fixed with laser stitches and my eye was back to normal in a couple of weeks.

Hope it's nothing serious and you get it fixed soon.

Thank you! It appears that's exactly what it is. Waiting for eyes to dilate to confirm. From aging! Imagine that!
Update: All OK. Should resolve itself. No retina detachment.

Fasting glucose normal. Upper-chest CT scan with contrast tomorrow afternoon. I expect good news from that, it's really a follow-up test to be certain.

Cooking up some beef enchiladas to try out these low-carb tortillas I bought. That batch will be good for a few days or I might freeze some. I hope the tortillas work, they taste ok as sandwich wraps.

My husband has to have a very low salt diet. I have found this costco product to be very helpful to add flavor without salt.
I don't think I've ever noticed that, but will keep an eye out when I hit Costco this week. Checked the ingredients on line and it sure looks like a winner! Sincere thanks for the recommendation.

On a related note, my go-to tomato sauce starting helper of a spice mix was discontinued early in the pandemic. Alack and Alas! Of course, it was my children's go-to starter as well, so we despaired together. The only thing that had always bothered me about that mix was, you guessed it, #1 ingredient was salt.

I bought and assembled everything (except salt) on that ingredient list and started tinkering like a mad scientist. I've pretty much got the proportions down now - but my version is salt-free. I mix big batches of the spice mix every year or so, and share them with my kids.

I'm home. Plumber is here installing new tankless water heater. Water is turned off. Hope I don't have to pee! I was worried that Maggiecat would escape with the door open while I was gone. Nope. She hid under the bed and didn't come out until I got home. Plumber didn't know there was a kitty🐱 here.

So. HR lady brought granddaughter around to introduce her (but only to NL, not to me). Hm. Her GD is an identical twin. Twin has been working at the store since sometime last fall. It appears that my days are numbered. Fine! Fire me. Please. I'll collect unemployment for as long as it lasts. I can "look" for jobs until the cows come home, but not concerned that anybody will hire me at my (somewhat advanced) age. Yay.

Anyway, I discovered purely by accident that HR lady's GD has been hired. I had to leave a note for HR lady because I was supposed to sign the papers saying I'd completed some training, and she told me to see her before I left today. When I went up to sign the papers when my shift was done, she wasn't there (because, yanno, she was taking her GD around the store to introduce her to everybody...except me). I waited until I saw DD pull up outside, then left the note telling HR lady that my ride was there and asking if she could sign on my behalf.

However...when I lifted the note from the desk I used for writing, a paper fluttered to the floor. Picked it up, of course, and there was all the info about the new hire in the bakery. It's not like I had to read much; it was just a form with her name, hire date, department. The rest of the paper was just white space. Instead of handwriting on the wall, it was handwriting on the paper! LOL

They'll "offer" me a job at another store. It's what they do. No. I'm ready to leave at a moment's notice. Unemployment? Nah. That's just a pipe dream. They make these "offers" to employees all the time so that they'll quit, and the company won't have to pay unemployment.

Sir will have to start opening at 4am again. That won't make him happy.

Also hope that the plumber is done enough to close the back door soon because, dang! it's still cold outside.

It'll be 70+ today, and by Thursday? 81+. Thursday's my day off to play in the dirt. No rain in sight until Friday. Woohoo.

Spring is only 7 (SEVEN!) days away.

One more thing...I looked for Herb Ox this morning. Nope. Everdamthang except Herb Ox.

morning folks, its wet and windy out,im out for a full English brekki this morning, with a caramel latte,,then off to shoe shops, looking for a comfy pair of shoes for my hols next month,,,,,,,,,garden centre for some stakes,
where ya goin' *M*?... any room for a little one ? :sneaky::D

It's almost 6pm and it's getting dark... been heavy rain all day.....

Another of filling forms.. and all stuff legal... had to print out all my bank statements for the last 12 months. I was going to let the bank do it, I thought I could just go into the branch and they would be able to do it.. but apparently not, I have to order them and they can take up to 10 days to arrive... so I kept my fingers crossed and hoped my ink wouldn't run out, and let me print.. dozens of pages of statements.

Fortunately it has ..even tho' it did jam up on me a few times.. I was able to get it unjammed ..it's an Old Canon printer.. and I'm no Techi head when things get jammed or it runs out of ink..... but anyway it's hopefully all done and ready for the legal eagles to view.. annoying as that is...

I've got one day free tomorrow.. and I have a 30 page finance form to complete.. and then another meeting with my lawyer on Thursday...

*Phew* it's horribly mentally exhausting...

I walked to Dollar Tree this afternoon to pick up a few items. On the way I stopped and got an excellent slice of pizza from my favorite pizza spot. My main reason for going to DT is because I had to get a birthday card for my BFF. Every year, she makes sure I get my BD card on time, if not sooner. For a couple of years (not last) I had fallen short, so this year I'm making sure that she gets her cards on time. Yes, I bought two. One is funny and so describes our relationship. The other is a beautiful glitter card....got to have some glitter.

Glad I got my exercise in...I wound up walking a little more than two miles today. I took a long nap; woke up at 8:30, checked out the items from Amazon and Costco that my son picked up for me and cleaned up the kitchen. Since I have to do some rearranging in the storage closet, I'll wait until tomorrow to put the items away so I won't disturb my son who's asleep. It's almost midnight and I'm not sleepy yet, so again I'll be up in the middle of the night. :sneaky:

Y'all have any idea what it's like to wake up at 2:30 in the morning? Oy! It's a good thing that once I'm up and have had coffee, I'm ready to roll.

It's gonna be a lovely day in the neighborhood. 75ish or more. I may mow the lawn when I get home. Or not. Might wait until tomorrow so that there'll be something to do. I'd go get more bedding plants this afternoon, but there'll probably be at least another time or two with frost...

Later, kids. Gotta go wake the rooster🐓

Hey! Great to know I"m not the only one awake at 2 early a.m.
It took my 2 more hours to back to sleep.

Up about 7 a.m., breakfast ,, now trying dream up a delicious meal.
About to the end of the antibiotics which sure screw up my desire for food.
