A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we did another 4 kilometres on our usual walk. I put cleats on my boots since the snow is so icy. It rained the other day and then the temperature dropped.

We saw the extra benches the township put up for the gathering the other day.

A beanch ready to offer a rest.
We’ve never actually sat on one but they do look comfortable. There used to only be one there. Now there’s four. They put them up the last time we were there. We saw all the materials they had to make them. They had 200 people going for a s’mores treat. They apparently built 2 fire pits. We were asked to participate but declined. Far too many people for us.

Today was a cool partially sunny, partially cloudy and - 8 day degrees Celsius. We walked our regular 4 kilometre trail. On the way there I took a photo of a lovely house surrounded by the ocean. It doesn’t look it, but it’s a huge house.

What’s great about this pathway is that it’s popular so well packed down. Yesterday we walked a different path that was really hard to walk on. Since it’s not walked as much as the others there’s more places where you sink into the snow. These paths have been well walked on so these no surprise sinking.

Do you know why the tree has a red tag on it?

Today it’s -8, feels like -18. We stopped by Canadian Tire to purchase some cleats for my husband. The trails are well packed down but are very icy also, making it fairly dangerous in places. The cleats definitely help.

We walked 4 kilometres and only ran into one other person with 2 dogs.

Here’s the River. It’s running faster today which is a good sign.
IMG_7749.jpeg
Here’s an eagle in a tree we saw on the way home. We saw a deer run across the road. I wish I would have remembered to take a picture. It would have been a good one.

IMG_7756.jpeg
It would have been a better picture if I wasn’t stuck in the car.

Today it is 6 degrees out but very overcast.
We took a drive to the park and walked a few kilometres. We weren’t sure what the road was going to be like into the park, since it’s closed this time of year and were pleasantly surprised that it had been cleared of snow.
IMG_7783.jpeg
One of our dogs had hurt her paw so we didn’t want to walk too far due to that.
I took a photo of all the ice in the bay. IMG_7770.jpeg
This is a photo of the town from across the bay.

An island out in the ocean.

A sign warning pedestrians that rocks fall off the hill due to the ice. Some rocks fell down just as we were walking by. Luckily they didn’t fall near is.

Have a nice day.

Today was 9 degrees when we went for a walk. We only walked 2 kilometres due to our dogs poor paw.

Since it was 9 degrees the snow and ice was melting quickly creating fast currents in the rivers.

IMG_7800.jpegIMG_7801.jpeg
Fast flowing rivers creates a nice soothing sound.
IMG_7802.jpeg. IMG_7803.jpeg
It was a lovely walk today. Afterwards we went shopping then ordered a large pizza from our new ‘Pizza Hut.’
IMG_7806.jpeg
It was very good.
Have a nice day everyone.

Today was a beach walk. It was -4 and partially sunny. It snowed last night so there’s a fresh snowfall to walk on.
IMG_7816.jpeg

The waves are so strong and the roots of trees so shallow that they rip the tress out of the ground.

Luckily someone came by with a saw and cut down a few trees( earlier ) which allowed us to continue our beach walk otherwise we would have had to turn around. IMG_7823.jpegIMG_7816.jpegIMG_7824.jpeg

Today we walked on the old railroad trail now turned into an ATV track / walking/ bicycle/snowmobile path. It was approximately 0 degrees Celsius and sunny.

@NotCompSavvy
I took some pictures of what the ocean is generally like with lots of ice along the shoreline. This is what most of the coastline looks like.

The beach we walked at yesterday ( see post above this one ) doesn’t have any accumulated ice due to the big waves that crash on the shoreline. If these waves are so strong that they rip out trees and move fair size rocks then it’s a reasonable guess that they break away any ice that trying to form.
That’s my guess anyway.

The ice is a fair ways out. IMG_7845.jpeg
On the way back we saw 2 bald eagles together. Unfortunately I couldn’t get my phone ready in time to photograph them but did get a picture of them landing on the ice and one in the trees. They are quite a distance away.

Today we went to the park again. It was -3 degrees and sunny. Since most of the walk was on dry pavement, I took my cleats off. They are uncomfortable with no ice or snow for them to sink into.

We walked up the nature trail first off then circled back to the main road. We met a young man with a young golden retriever who wanted to play so I let or older dog play with him. They had so much fun and the man was happy ,…. He says he’s trying to socialize him.

We walked approximately 4 kilometres.

Today was 5 degrees when we went for a walk. It just finished raining. We went to our favourite spot thinking most of the snow would be melted and unfortunately it wasn’t.
All the compacted snow had turned to wet ice and I had taken my cleats off so we cut our walk short. I almost wiped out 5 times.

On the way back we spotted those two eagles again. By the time I got out of the car, one of the eagles had flown away. I got a distant photo of one of them.

Today is a beautiful bright day so we decided to walk at the park again. The roads have been nicely cleared for easy walking. It was -4 and sunny.

The ice has melted in the bay.

We saw another eagle 🦅 at the park but I didn’t get my phone out in time to take a photo.

Have a nice day.
Really beautiful, where you live.

Today it’s 5 degrees and going up to 7. It was overcast when we started out but then the sun came out and it was beautiful.

IMG_7944.jpeg

It’s so nice to walk here. The road has been ploughed and all the snow and ice is gone.

This place has some covered picnic tables, perfect for rainy days.

Today is 7 degrees Celsius and sunny. We decided to walk on the beach since all the snow is gone.

It’s starting to feel Ike spring.
Today my husband and I are celebrating 35 years of living together. We are celebrating our anniversary with homemade pizza , cake & ice cream .

Jeix! P!ease be more careful. All it takes is a wrong twist not even a fall.
Thank you!

Boilng down the maple sap.

We have 20 taps in approximately 15 trees.
It takes 5 gallons of sap to make 1/2 a litre of syrup.
Patty - what are you using for fuel?

Thanks for your concern . I’ve taken my cleats off my shoes and walking on ground that doesn’t have any snow or ice on it.

We are using wood for fuel so it’s costing us nothing. It is the wood we cut down ourselves.

Today’s temperature went up to 17 degrees Celsius. The park had too many people for our liking so we went on the closest ATV trail.
IMG_7971.jpeg
Most of the trail was clear of snow and ice but it wasn’t completely gone. I took my coat off halfway on the walk and tied it around my waist. Only one ATV went by. It had a woman driver with a man as a backside passenger. IMG_7972.jpegIMG_7973.jpegWe walked about 3 to 4 kilometres.

On the way back we ran into a group of deer wanting to cross the road. They crossed one by one then regrouped at the house across the street. View attachment 409228View attachment 409227

There are very few days that we don’t see deer.
Ya know I didn’t even know there was WILD ~ deer in Australia till recently ….dah …I heard on the news they are going to be culling the numbers in QLD.
@PeppermintPatty

Originally introduced in the19th century from Europe and Asia as game animals by European settlers, Australia is now home to six species of deer; fallow, red, chital, hog, rusa and sambar. While deer continue to be farmed for venison, the wild populations are causing significant environmental damage.
