Are we still allowed to discuss female logic, (if so then there are a few things to say)?

I've known some pretty illogical men in my life.

i have my doubts about the one who started this thread. Do people also post topics questioning the intelligence or ‘logic’ of groups of people based on their race or their religious status or ethnicity? How can anyone think it is okay to do so in relation to one’s sex? As a man I am deeply offended that anyone would be so callously offensive. We can do better.

Really?
You think like that, and are "deeply offended", (on behalf of goodness knows who, "the whole of humanity it would appear"!).

You have however touched upon something I wished to respond to in relation to another forum member, (who has tried their best to educate me and anyone else reading te thread about different forms of logic)

Before I do that can I just throw in a comment or recollection likely to upset the whole Scots nation, and diaspora, (especially if all feel like you on the nature of the man saying these things), and this is something remarked upon by a judge trying a case involving a Scotsman. The defendant had been asked a question and answer "Aye" to it, (a word most of people think means "Yes"), and then answered another question saying "Aye" and this time he meant to say "No"!

I'm reliably informed "Aye" can mean either "Yes or No" in Scotland as the judge discovered and remarked upon making the national news. How anything can be as illogical as using the same word to mean two completely opposite things is something to be wondered at, or marveled at in my opinion, but of course there are times, such as when in court, it just wont do, and all the discussion about Boolean logic, and Fuzzy logic probably wont save you in front of a judge seeking answers to his or her questions.

Returning to your post I've responded to here now, and the level of offence you feel on behalf of all kinds of people.

The great Australian feminist Germaine Greer has been interviewed recently and given her response to a similar suggestion. My response to you being offended is check out what she had to say about her being turned down for some recognition or award from Newnham college in Cambridge, where she was once a student, and was interviewed about this on the BBC, and I wish to agree with and support her position.

@grahamg The English language is replete with words that have different meanings in different contexts. Ambiguity abounds.

e.g. Each of us saw her duck
The passerby helped the dog bite victim
Thou still unravish’d bride of quietness

In Australia we commonly hear someone respond to a simple question with "yeah, nah"
Are they in agreement or otherwise?

What if they say "Nah, yeah" ?
Does the order really matter?

PS The logic is actually quite simple.

I don't understand the opening post. I have seen faulty faucets that slow down when they are fully "open." They aren't the norm, but I didn't see the poster actually filling a bucket with the faucet full and half open to see what was actually producing the most water, which is one of his criticisms of the women. Let alone did he mention anything about lending a helping hand, rather than just finding fault (and such a petty fault) with those doing the actual work.

Good grief, I hope the image he creates for himself doesn't rub off on the rest of us. We are not perfect, but not all of us are jerks most of the time.

Exactly.

I didn’t watch it all but you must mean this one.

I don’t agree with everything she says but I don’t think it is because she is illogical. The part about all men hating at least some women while some men hate all women seems over blown though obviously likely true in some banal sense. In the same way it must be true that all women must hate at least some men if they have any capacity for hate at all. When I consider who I find most hate worthy the top of the heap are men in my book. I just can’t name names given the ban on politics.

She is obviously very bright but what I appreciate is getting a sense of what her experience has been in relationship to the opposite sex. Obviously there are aspects of the dynamic she objects to and I can’t say I blame her. There is an obvious power difference in play that we are only beginning to throw off. That is a part of the old status quo I’d like to see eradicated too.

Thanks for your vote of no confidence, I hope you feel the better for it, and whomsoever you choose to please, be it yourself or others, are well satisfied! :sneaky:

"Dont take life too seriously" would be good advice in my humble opinion, and who knows, its just possible a bit of regard might just creep into your mind, why not!:)

She is being shunned is my point, and has given her response to it, with which I whole heartedly agree.

Just as soon as I saw the thread title I instantly knew of the author(grahamg!).

You are the only guy I know who actually enjoys shooting himself in the foot. :p That's OK, just don't get the rest of us guys shot!
Hey, no bullets, nor even much jeopardy here, and with any luck a trend is a coming, especially when an out and out feminist such as Germaine Greer can be celebrated by someone you think is "pushing their luck", whilst at the same time the "right to offend" is defended not just by the great lady herself, but a host of others building up steam, (including our courts I believe!).

So to whoever might be offended, "Get over it" is the response!!!!!!!!!!! (n)o_O:rolleyes:;):sneaky:

@grahamg , well I doubt that I can keep up with, let alone fathom the universe in which you live, but I have to applaud your efforts to....to "do" whatever it is that you're pursuing. ;)

This example of "female logic" may not be fair to ascribe to anyone other than the person involved, so please accept that may be 100% the case before anyone goes thinking anything else.

However, before getting into that, can I just make a remark about the name given to what we've learnt on this thread is called "Fuzzy logic"(?!)

What a name to use, who on earth came up with that name, I'm going to impugn a "woman or an American", (or both!), though I admit the name does suggest something of the nature of the form of logic we've been introduced to.

Now to move on to the person (a former work colleague), who I believe now maybe did try to use some "Fuzzy logic" on me, about twenty years ago, telling me "there was no black and white issues, only shades of grey", (you'll no doubt have heard this argument before).

My response was to use something the owner of the company we worked for used to say quite often, "You can be half pregnant, (so that is a black and white issue)"!

Where this discussion maybe became more about the lady who could see only grey, she seemed completely unable to accept any suggestion whatever she did or said might not be right, (ultimately the owner of the company lost patience with her and made her redundant "before the rest of hs management team left" he said).

There we go, "Fuzzy logic" hey, where would we be without it!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;):sneaky::whistle::giggle:

We needed shampoo. My first husband went to the store and came home with a three ounce travel bottle, cost $1.00. I asked, "Why did you buy this, you can get one of those big liter bottles of shampoo for $2.00? He said, "They were too expensive."

He was always like that. It's not a male or female thing, it just is.
