Forum member seriously injured

Wanted to let you know Holly has had some complications. She wrote:
"10:50pm just got home from the hospital. Serious infection in the back of my right hand where the are several chunks cut out of it. My right palm was shredded and plastic surgeons had to repair and inserted 27 stitches..while I was in hospital the night of the accident 6 days ago They cleaned the back of my hand but no stitches, then dressed it.

"The pain has been progressively worse since then, so today I was in such screaming pain I went back to hospital where they discovered that despite being heavily bandaged the back of my hand was very infected. The pain was off the scale tbh"

Please keep her in your thoughts and continue posting your well wishes. She reads this thread and says the wonderful support here helps keep her positive.
Thanks for relaying this message StarSong, just reading this.

@hollydolly So sad to hear you're so seriously injured and going through this pain and surgery. I hope the infection and the pain goes away and healing can begin. Hang in there, we're thinking of you, worried about you and hoping for the best....hugs.

Holly, I have been following this post. I am so very sorry this happened to you. I know you are on the mend, but that can be very difficult and painful time. I hope the worst is behind you and that you are feeling less pain and on the mend. God Bless and know we all will be happy when you get to feeling better. I am praying for your quick recovery! God Bless

Starsong, thanks for sharing Holly's email. I didn't know about this latest awful development, and was mostly away from my computer yesterday. I hope Holly's daughter lives near enough to be able to help her, and also to represent her interests to the medical establishment, It appears that people really need some representation (family, friend, social worker, legal) when they are in an accident or seriously ill. There's absolutely no excuse for them letting that infection get to that point. What is this, the middle ages?

And Holly, let them know loud and clear when you need help. I hope the infection is healing and your hand feels much better. Send me an email when you're up to it; I'll share it with the group.

Good morning, Holly... I see you peeking in here! 🫣 I hope you have someone to help you around the house, especially with your pain issues and your hand not being usable at the moment. Just do everything you can to make your healing as rapid as possible. Don't make me have @oldman pick me up and fly me over there to make sure you're behaving... I'm terrified of flying! (Saw ya smile, yep, I did!) The SF candle will remain lit until you're back. 🕯️
Kate—You don’t have a thing to worry about if I’m flying the plane. Like I tell my friends, “Come, Fly the Friendly Skies of United.” It’s only about a 7 hour flight from Dulles.

Just got this from Holly:

..., Sadly the hand and arm are giving quite the fight against improving..got antibiotics at the hospital urgent care yesterday and stronger pain meds. today i've slept almost the whole day off and on.. violently sick on an empty stomach...pretty poorly..hoping this might be the start to improvement, cuz sometimes we feel at our worst just before the dawn.
No, I have no help here, I was given a number to call but they said if I can see and I can walk, I'm not entitled to any help. It cost me £60 in cab fares to the urgent care yesterday. My friend who would help me if she was here is currently in New zealand... my daughter is 2 hours away and works full time,

I saw someone on the forum mention me getting my gardener in, but i'm not well enough to cope with him coming yet....i haven't even told my neighbours who bring me food, because they would feel obligated to cook every night for me,altho' they would do t with pleasure, they both work and have 3 young children to care for, and i'm still finding it painful to walk due to the cracked ribs, so i don't' want to have to keep getting up to answer the door. I'll wait 'till i feel better before telling them, and anyway I think they probably think i'm away because my car isn't' in the drive.

Thanks for continuing to check on me, you and starsong, have been very dear to me through all of this. it's been a week today since it happened, i keep getting flashbacks..
..you can share any part of mails that you feel appropriate, and again those forum friends have been so kind, so thoughtful, i'm deelighted to call you all my dear friends,,,

It is disconcerting that there is no health service that will look in on you, Hols. A nurse service to change your bandage, and check your vitals, wouldn't go astray.

Good to see that you are able to respond to us via Sunny and StarSong.

Oh gosh, Holly, I'm glad to see your updates here thru Sunny, and StarSong,

but we all wish that you were getting better faster. 💗

Have any small light food, with the meds.
Any small snack.

Don't have the antibiotics or pain meds on empty stomach. Remember that They're horrid on the stomach that way.

I understand the trauma flashbacks.
I suffered thru those. 😒🙄😣
