Yes, I'd rather see fewer people killed rather than more. Of course, I'd rather see none killed at all.
We've said this a few zillion times here already, rgp, but apparently the coin hasn't dropped yet. Banning knives or any other utilitarian instrument is not even remotely comparable to banning guns. Even as a tongue-in-cheek argument. A gun is used for only one purpose, to kill (or to terrorize), A knife is used for many useful purposes, it is a tool. Of course, any object can be used as a weapon if the person is so inclined. But only the gun is designed to kill, and nothing else. An assault weapon is designed to kill as many as possible in the shortest amount of time.
Let me ask you something: forgetting about guns in general, how do you feel about the fact that any nut case can easily and legally acquire an assault weapon? What legitimate purpose could he want it for? Why would any civilian in the private sector need such a weapon? Could we at least agree that strictly regulating (and preferably, outright banning) these weapons could be feasible, since so many of them have been used in mass murders, without bringing in silly arguments about banning knives, baseball bats, automobiles, or anything else that could be used, accientally or deliberately, as an instrument of murder?
Funny in a way, as soon as I saw the words "stabbing rampage" as the heading for this thread, I thought, "Oh here we go. The gun-worshipers must be elated that something other than a gun was used for once. And one of them will now sarcastically suggest banning knives." You are so predictable!
The score is now something like:
U.S. gun deaths last year = nearly 40,000, will be higher this year
Stabbing deaths = 4
Yep, that definitely makes the NRA's point!
Well since you are speaking condescendingly too me, I will to you as well.

Wrong, a gun is also a tool.....a tool to a hunter, an implement to a target/sport shooter.
"how do you feel about the fact that any nut case can easily and legally acquire an assault weapon? "
Wrong, Here where i live anyway, background checks are deeply involved , not just any nut case can get one. Assuming he displays his nut-case-ness. Which [how many do] ?
"Why would any civilian in the private sector need such a weapon? "
Need? Do not know, want? .... It is a skill level for recreational shooters.

Silly ?..... You stand by your argument, I'll stand by mine.

Yeah I'm sure every hunter was glad too hear of more death at the hand of evil ..........
NOT !!! What a horrible thing to say !!!!!!
Gun worshiper ? So predictable ? You do not know me ! .................I do not even own a gun
I am so tempted to use an appropriate label for you .......... But I'll maintain a higher level ............
