Get ready folks for a long post.. or maybe 2..lol.. I've had an eclectic day.. actually a Super eclectic day... It's been an absolutely beautiful day weatherwise , and a great start to the Easter holidays ..

Firstly I mowed the front lawn.. and sprayed weedkiller (first cut of the year)... then I took myself off to the car repair place which is a drop in, to get a new Headlight bulb...turns out they don't do them, but one of the guys said he had a bulb, and would fit it for me for ''a drink''.. so that's what he did ..and that saved me a load of hassle driving to another town.

From there.. I drove over to Hatfield house which is not too far from where I live..here's a link to it.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatfield_House

It had just reopened after winter closure and I wanted to visit the gardens.. . I paid £12 to go in, and as soon as I got in I could see the sings saying the garden's were closed, but they didn't tell me at the ticket office.. . Anyway I just took a walk in the huge expansive grounds and woodland.. boy.. did I walk.. probably 4 or 5 miles.. up and down dale...

more to follow.... :D
It's so beautiful! I think that walk would brighten anyone's day!

...anyway finally after I'd walked as far as my knee would let me I left... and spoke to the ticket office about paying for the gardens and them not being open, so they apologised and refunded my £12... saying that the gardens are not actually opening until tomorrow..

There's a lovely little cafe on site.. so I popped in there for a cuppa tea .. I'd not taken water with me on the walk .. big mistake.. and there's nothing at all inside the grounds to buy

...and in the courtyard of the Historic house are several independent shops..

the left is the gun shop.. the right is a Dog grooming shop...

this is a vintage cannon and real cannonballs..

....so after my little sit down and tea.. I took a stroll around the little store, which house country clothing.. (like the wax jacket I bought the other day).. and also the gun shop...

.... back now and just having a cuppa tea and a scone before I go out and tackle the front lawn. I think I'll mow the front lawn instead of scarifying the back today.

I'll leave that until another day. I've got grass seed arriving later today..
Stunning! 💖

When I got home, I made some Tempura Cod balls for dinner.. didn't have the energy to do anything else... in fact I really wasn't very hungry... so I had those and then the Amazon driver turned up shortly after.. and I'm very pleased I was home.. (6pm).. because if I hadn't glanced through the window and saw the van pull away I wouldn't have known he'd left the new grass seed, and some garden furniture covers on the doorstep and not rung the bell...... oh and another one thing to add to my eclectic day.. Imy front door lock is jammed. The key wouldn't trun in it at all.. good thing I have a key to the back door on my keyring otherwise I'd have been locked out .. it means I have to call the Locksmith tomorrow...

See.. did I tell you I had a Super eclectic day or did I tell you?>..:ROFLMAO:

Good morning, kids. It's gonna be at least 80 today, maybe warmer.

The last day I get to work with Retired Lady. Her last day is tomorrow, when I'm off. DD is going to take me over there when she gets home from work tomorrow after lunch. The books I ordered for her are supposed to be here this afternoon.

Now it's time to get ready to make 🥐 🥐 🥐 🥐 and cookies and bread and stuff.

Cleaning my bathroom. I like a good scrubbing session, make it all shine. I put my old clothes on and radio 4. I usually learn interesting things while I get things done.
By the way my favourite is Cif Bathroom Spray and the blue Tesco Lime scale Remover. They give good results with minimal effort.

Went shopping to buy some bird seed (They're eating us out of house and home) and troughs to plant strawberries in. The store is next door to ASDA (was part of Walmart ) for a look and found that they were selling packs of fresh vegetables for 20p. Can't resist a bargain so we stocked up. Couldn't get some things we wanted, so we dropped into Tesco who were selling sides of salmon and fresh meat at half price. Stocked up some more. Our freezers are pretty full, but we'll have half price dinners for a good while.

Got notification of my IBM pension increase - absolutely pathetic after it was messed up some years ago. After tax and the increase in the cost of living is deducted, we'll be no better off - probably worse off.

I woke up around 6am did exercise for my right knee, got dressed. I walked down stairs went on my early walked 3 blocks to local co op,they open at 7{am a member} got a couple of items.
This morning ,the plan of cleaning furniture in my living room&bedroom tired of looking at the dust. If its not raining mid morning hope to get another walk in,rest of my day read NYT,book after dinner tackle NYT crossword puzzle. I usually get MOn&Tues Weds sometimes. I've been doing the puzzles since the 80's

Today is dry.. altho' some rain is forecast, not sunny and glorious like yesterday ( see previous page for photos).... but warm.

Called the Locksmith, they said they can come in the next 4 hours.. so I've got to wait in for them.. but in the interim, I got a call from my friend who needs a lift back from London . I told him I can't come because of the locksmith, but everyone else is working so he's stuck for a lift after dropping his car off for repair... so he's said he'll wait for me to come and get him after my locksmiths' been. *sigh*.. I don't want to sound uncharitable, but the very last thing I want to do is drive into the manic traffic of London.. especially if the Locksmith doesn't come for a few hours yet , it'll be nightmare rush hour.. it's already 1.45pm..

Morning everyone, It is pouring down rain here this morning.
I need to vacuum today....another house chore I hate...I have area rugs, and sometimes I fold up the corners and vacuumed the sand underneath, I have visions of the Mojave desert under the places I can't get to.
@moviequeen1 , I have thought about subscribing to NYT, just for their word games, I really enjoy getting the wordel puzzle every morning.
