What are you doing today 2023

lol..it wasn't once in a while it was continual....
I hate that as well when people are so selfish that they use what's supposed to be a public space to throw stuff around amongst a group (usually teenagers or 20-somthings), whether it be some sort of ball, frisbee or whatever. So inconsiderate of others trying to enjoy the same space without taking a hit to the face or head. Happens at the beach quite often as well  I'm shocked they would allow that at a public pool

So sorry, Pepper. It's such a shame when families seemingly break apart for no apparent reason. At least they are communicating now. And you are right about thinking it will be best to never bring the lost years up with them.

As for what I am doing today, I'm just feeling very sad. My niece's husband was diagnosed with lymphoma in early March. He had started chemo and was tolerating it well so we all thought things were looking better. In early April, he developed a blockage, I believe in his stomach or intestines, was in intense pain and rushed to the hospital. He was there for 17 days and finally discharged. Home for a few weeks and back to the hospital for the same problem. My niece said they were told he might not survive but he did and was sent home last Friday. But, she had to call an ambulance on Monday and he is back in the hospital with the same/similar problem. He is such a nice guy and only in his early 60's. He retired just a year ago and they had such plans for travel and just taking it easy. Life just does not seem fair sometimes.

yes me too... Our open air pools are few and far between in the Uk, and because I don't have a pool here at this house, and can't get to my house in Spain ..I really miss swimming.. so I was very happy to find this one even tho' it's a 40 mile round trip... but it's not a relaxing swim when this horseplay is allowed to go on..

After torturing myself making reservations on AccessARide, I found out my grandson's Pre-K graduation at a local gorgeous park is cancelled, due to weather concerns. The graduation will be moved indoors where there is only room for the parents, not the grandparents and guests. Sigh. Now I must miss the dance the students rehearsed; the one my grandson absolutely refused to participate in. Now I can't watch him NOT dance!

I bet it doesn't rain. If, at 2:30 pm it is not raining, I will return to this space to scream and curse! that I missed a great event. These events are so treasured
Dear @Pepper I feel your pain. Mother only paid for the school ring. Somehow the school graduation budget (for 1977) didn't include a photo album. No photographic memories. As Papa died in 1974, Mother also refused to pay for the graduation dance (had to retrieve down payment I'd put on prom dress, shitaki mushrooms...)

Son got secondary school dance (no parents or others invited) darn... He finished College in June 2016 (nothing about prom or graduation) he took ill in early October 2016, got hospitalised and died January 2017(the graduation dance was, strangely enough planned for summer 2017). No diplomas handed ceremony either.

Daughter didn't get tickets (overbooked hall) for her diplomas ceremony in 2012 at university. The graduation meal was delicious, but as daughter and us said, the DJ should have been thrown out the window. Why? Daughter and others had organised a fantastic playlist and the bugger ignored it, we left after he refused to one request from three other graduates.

I tried to make a 20 years reunion (similar to the ones very familiar in the States). It was a 50-50 vote within the students I managed to reach in 1997. So, 125 said yes, due to the cancelled prom dance, which I didn't know about. The 125 left said no, they couldn't care less. Too many teachers had passed away. Very sad!

Hubby and I spoiled our Munchkins with a huge party in July 2016. Had troubles to find graduation items with 2012 and 2016 but they enjoyed our cold buffet and huge cake in the back garden.

For being 1 point short of Valedictorian, I got an unsigned card from Mother!

Sometimes, we've got to create our own happy memories...

Yesterday , another lottery win of the grand sum of $20....okay , okay, $120 last week was much nicer but today I bought a cheap watch
for $12.00 plus tax and another lottery ticket for tomorrow. Then I went to The Dutch Bakery and bought 6 freshly baked raisin buns so it was well spent

I was not feeling too good this morning but just made myself get moving so all in all a good day.
Now I am going to have a coffee and one of those buns with lots of butter...yum

you know what..everyone that I know whose watched My Cousin Vinny.. say it's the funniest film they ever saw... I watched it and didn't find it funny... I just didn't get it...
You have to see the differences within laws of each of the 50 states. Vinny (Joe Pesci) is the lawyer from New York, and never dealt with a murder case let alone been in court. Alabama a Southern State below the Dixie Line has very different views regarding court procedures. So, the funnies are between Vinny and the judge Chamberlain Haller (Fred Gwynne played in the Munsters series 1964-1966).

Then, Marisa Tomei (who played Mona Lisa Vito the fiancée) is hilarious in as far as out-of-town tourist she is, she gets angry at Vinny but she's a cracker regarding cars and mechanics, she saves the day.

Ralph Macchio (who plays Bill Gambini) was a star of Karate Kid with the legendary actor Pat Morita.

It may be subtle funnies but if you read the Wikipedia plot about the film, and then watch it again, you'll get the gist of it. Laws differences, North and South divide, being at the wrong place at the wrong time and very unreliable witnesses. All these make for subtle funnies. Hoping this helps!

.
So excited today, using my winnings from Ascot to book
a week long holiday with three of my best girlfriends
(they're paying for themselves).
Taken all day and probably all day tomorrow to decide
where we want to invade, lol.
St Lucia looks good!
St. Lucia's very nice. You'll like it! Was there early part of May this year.

The geographic feature they're know for; twin mountains ... The Pitons. You'll hear about them all the time there. Even the local beer carries the name Piton Beer

A few hours ago I learned my only sibling, older sister died this morning. Come September, it will be 20 years since I last saw her. She wouldn't speak to me and I never learned why. I have been trying to reach her and a nephew for the last two decades and was ignored. No one has ever told me why. Our mother died two years before we stopped speaking. I got my first bout with cancer. They visited me in the hospital, then disappeared.

Now she is dead. Another nephew reached out to his cousin, my son. She died of dementia. She was at home. I spoke with this nephew. They are not having a funeral but a memorial service at home. I was told I'd be informed of when.

For the last few hours I've been pacing my apartment. I wish I could throw up, I feel so physically ill. If you guys can stand it, I'll be mentioning it here, in this thread. I don't want to start a thread about her. I'm not comfortable authoring threads.

When it rains, it pours. I am so thankful and grateful for my own son, a loyal, loving man.
So very sorry to read this Pepper. Please let us know any way you can how you are doing. Keep strong 🤗🤗
Wish I could give you a physical hug.

Funny you talking about dodging the rain lol... We got soaked at the first bus stop waiting for it to arrive. Then, we managed to do our shopping dry and the rain came round 11pm. They never get the weather correctly, after a quarter of a century, I know LOL!

I love Vanilla Chai and it was our goal. Daughter and I wanted a treat. At Christmas we get our Munchkins in the past, windmill spiced biscuits. With this Masala, daughter said it was as having that biscuit in a cup with tea, it's gooooooood...👌
Wow, it must've either been hot or windy for you to dry off so quickly. I meant to say I ordered 6 boxes of vanilla chai, not 6 packs (the 6 came packaged together). I have enough to last me for quite awhile, even though I shared one box. Still haven't tried the masala yet. What your daughter said gave me an idea...maybe I'll have it with anisette toast. 😋

Gorgeous photos, Mr Pants thanks!'
We spent a fleeting two days there once many years
ago...I had forgotten how beautiful it is.

I think you have helped me make up my mind 🤗

Hello, all here.
It's been a stressful and very exhausting week, with DH having surgery, and my trying to hold it together. We are getting through this, so far.
I tried to sleep tonight, and just couldn't, so I am saying hello, and read through just some of the posts, from the past few days, since my previous SF visit, and most recent post.
Can't think of anything else to say, but it feels good to come by here.

I'm so sorry Pepper. That's a sad way to leave things.
I can see why you'd need to talk about it and I hope you'll do it freely. 🕊

I had semi planned to go out today, it was forecast to be V hot and sun.... however it's mid-day now and very overcast and Muggy...so I'll give it an hour, if the sun comes out I'll go out.. if not, I'll stay home...

My friend wants us to go to a watermelon festival today. He said there will plenty of women there. He has been having bad luck with women since he moved down here. It at least sounds interesting. He also said something about getting some watermelon wine. That sounded refreshing.

Good morning, all! Early day for me... I was back from getting groceries by 8:15. I have some bookkeeping "financial junk" to catch up with today, and dinner's going to be a big ol' salad so I can feel that I ate something healthy this week. 😊

@Pepper I am so very sorry for what you've been going through... all of it. Gentle hugs. 🫂 💐
@katlupe I hope you have (or had?) a perfectly incredible birthday! 🎂
@Kaila Prayers for you and your husband for a full recovery (him) and peace/calmness (you.) 🌷
@Georgiagranny Thinking about you and hoping things resolve for you real fast. 🌻
@hawkdon I hope the eye doc went well and that the aching is better for you today. 🤗
