What are you doing today 2023

Started feeling unwell yesterday late afternoon. Sore throat, burning sinuses. I slept poorly because of the discomfort. I can't take most OTC cold meds because they contain acetaminophen (paracetamol), to which I've apparently developed a sensitivity. I'll try ibuprofen tonight to see if it helps.

Other that nursing this along, I've got a light day with nothing planned.
Wishing you a speedy recovery my dear friend.... 💐

Well I've had dinner.. had my shower.. emptied the tarp again in the Barn of water, hung it on the line to dry out otherwise it will keep the damp going in the Barn..and put a dry one over the bench .. it's dark now.. freeezing cold - 1...... and racing towards 6pm...

My delivery still isn't here, but I've just checked and he's 5 stops away... Poor guy working in the dark and freezing cold... :(

Be good to yourself! Rest, fluids, etc, etc.....💗

Have you looked at the ones that also can wash the floor? I’m not sure if that one is real; it was on a FB ad.
Yes and they are real and even more expensive. My floors are brick and my concern about the mopping robot would be water accumulating in the grooves between the bricks. The floor is sealed so the mop water would just sit there.

It’s a dreary, raw day with periods of rain. A great day to be curled up after church with a warm cup of tea and some hearty bean soup.

When the wind was whistling up my rain slicker sleeves as I dashed across the parking lot, I thought of the partial ball of yarn left over from a recent knitting project and thinking I might make myself some ribbed “cuffs” to go inside coat sleeves to alleviate this.

also taking notes from the book on autism before it has to go back to the library tomorrow.

Morning folks...er, afternoon I guess....woke up late today after a bad sleep nite, blame it on Jodi Arias documentary, bad dreams and all that...woke up once had a death grip on my left wrist with my right wrist?????wth??? anyhoo, had couple inches of snow last nite, mostly melted now...temp around 40 f now...all grey out there....not too bad on aches n pains today goody....
So have a great day folks>>>>;)

This thread is still not showing up on my New Posts page. What do you recommend? What will happen if I "Watch" the thread?

Lazy morning, but I managed half an hour of exercise before lunch.

I wanted to do laundry. But since I live in a building, I have to plan laundry around other activities. That is, I can't just put it in the machine and leave it there for an hour or two. So I'll do it later.

Hosting the online trivia game this afternoon.

More exercise, talking to long-distance language partner, etc.

Early to bed. Winter. Blah.

Today I am laughing. I was talking to a neighbor today and she said to me that she was talking to my husband yesterday she said that she thinks he needs a hearing aide because she said he didn't seem to hear anything she said. I said he does have a hearing aide but won't wear it. Then she cracked me up when she said "vanity thy name is man".Boy, she really knows my hubby.

Same thing for me...had to do a search...so may threads now with 2023 in the title.

So while I am here reading about all you busy ladies I have to tell you thatI have heard from my lovely Scottish gal visitor over the holidays and wrote about earlier posts. She is just a wonderful young woman. This is a small excerpt from her email which I am sure she won't mind me posting as no names involved

"I have been working a fair bit too- on the nurse bank so I can choose which shifts I pick up (you can get a shift whenever you are free because so many wards here in - are closed with either covid or influenza. The ward I am working on this weekend is shut with flu and we are back to wearing full PPE which is so uncomfortable but necessary I guess. Makes it hard to communicate with people though especially if they are hard of hearing or confused. One of my favourite long- term patients on this ward (I know you shouldn't have favourites but you always do..) had to get transferred to a medical unit yesterday because he was so poorly with the flu and needing oxygen, I really hope he recovers. He has schizophrenia and is convinced people are after him which is so distressing for him and heartbreaking really but he's the sweetest, kindest man.

Other than work and Uni I do Advocacy once a week with a young woman, ------, who has a learning disability- usually it involves us going shopping and for coffee but sometimes I help her with going to appointments and things. Been doing that for nearly 7 years now and I really enjoy it. I also volunteer with guide dogs once a week- I visit a lady, J--- who is blind and has a retired guide dog- I guide her and we take the dogs out together, it gives her dog a chance to run about and also lets her get out and about because she is pretty much house bound otherwise."

Now all I can say is I did nothing today other than what was necessary and reading all that makes me feel so useless.
I would love to say I am busy
Let's just say 'I would if I could but I can't'.
The old bod doth protest too much these days especially the the thumb that isn't there.

Well off for a coffee and I do need one of @Georgiagranny 's scones to make me feel good but will just have slice of toast smothered in strawberry jam.

How large is that tarp, Holly. It seems like another difficult task, for one person. I always wish you had a helper at the ready for such things.
But it's a good accomplishment.

How does one follow a post like @Mizmo 's post without feeling slightly inadequate... 🤗...marvellous Friend.. for a brave and marvellous lady...
We each have gifts, @hollydolly ... we may not be able to do all this A-Maz-ing young lady is doing, but we're each responsible for what we do in Our Little Corner of the World. If we take care of that, we are a success.

Ok, end of peptalk, haha.

Both sound like great ideas to me! I would love that tea, and the hearty bean soup.
And that sounds like a good and useful knitting project, too, and an interesting one to figure out.:)

@CinnamonSugar What saves me from being inadequate is that I make scones! That's my gift;)

Retired Lady at work: She's originally from Bosnia, and the reason she retired to begin with is because they are moving back home. I think I mentioned that they were refugees early in the 90s during the war. They are building a house there, but it won't be ready to be occupied until April. They were over there in the fall, but as it became clear that they couldn't live in the house until spring, decided to come back to spend the winter. Her father and brother are there and overseeing the building of the house. I can't imagine trying to have a house built long distance...especially that long distance!

Whatever are we gonna do when Retired Lady is gone? She's such a treasure and has so much knowledge of the ins and outs of Kroger's bakery, and...she's happy to share. In just the few weeks she's been there, I've learned so much. Lots of things I've been doing not quite right that nobody mentioned. Why? because nobody else knew, either:oops:

Cold and rainy here. DD and I are waiting to go Walmarting until tomorrow morning. It's still gonna be cold, and windy as well so it'll really feel cold, but the sun will be out.

Taking a day out of the shop, and doing domestic stuff today. Vacuuming, trying out the new floor washing machine on the hardwood floors, and doing some maintenance on the bedroom gas fireplace, and the furnace.
Are you feeling completely better , now?
Both of you?
