What are you doing today 2023

Almost 80F up here in CT, slight chance of rain.

I have cooked chicken livers for doggie and mixed some with her food today. I cooked a package of gizzards to run through the processor for her, too. Soon, I'll pressure cook a bunch of frozen chicken to shred and mix with the above with a bit of cooked oats and bone broth. Individual packets will be frozen for her future meals.

Last night DGS and his GF were here. She finished off a quilt I began making more than 10 years ago. I was so happy to see it.

Last night's pizza/calzone event was fun. Split up the leftovers. Small problem - the 9 of us ate so much that even with 17 pizzas and 18 mini calzones, the amount of leftovers going into three families' freezers won't last long.

Guess we'll have to do it again in a few weeks. ❤️ Another evening with the kids (hopefully our other son & DIL can also make it next time) and grandkids? Gee.... twist my arm!

Going to the grocery store in a bit, maybe Costco also. (Costco on a Saturday - what am I thinking?!) Have some household organizing in front of me, too.

Hope all have a great day!
What a fun day. Any day with pizza is fun, but especially with family!

They look like dates, but they are obviously molded into that same round shape so guess they aren't dates. Hub said they are roasted potatoes with salt.
You're hubs is almost right Liberty... they are supposed to be roasted crispy potatoes, but they're tiny, and soft..like mushrooms with no flavour and served with chilli sauce.... chilli sauce is never served with roast potatoes lol.. an abomination...

Your dog eats better than I do.

more from around the fair today.. . it was only a little local town fair, so apart from one ride.. every ride was for children, so I had to be careful not to get the childrens' clear faces on here... ..most of the fair was made up of Drinks, and food stalls .. and kiddie rides..

The only adult ride..

it’s 91 degrees here so we are just staying in and enjoying our iPads and reading. Thelma has her Jammie’s on so I guess she’s serious about staying home. Instacart delivery yesterday so lots to eat in our isolation.
Pappy we have the same temperature here.. difference is we have no AC in our homes.. at least, the majority don't. In my car today it was 36 deg c... that's 100 deg F and I had the windows open...😓😓

@Supernatural, I am so sorry that you are struggling. Losing your husband is horrible and the fact that you also lost your son is unbearable. I don't think that you have recovered from the loss of your son and know have to deal with more grief with your husband's passing.

I am also a widow, over 12 years now and still I have not adjusted or coped with the loss in a healthy way. I cannot even imagine the pain, the loss of a child. I know you and your daughter are working hard to build a safe comfortable life. I am not in the UK so I don't know how things work there. I don't know how hard it is to find affordable housing. I do know that the cost of electricity, home heating and gasoline is thru the roof. You are also facing the struggle of food that is healthy, available and reasonably priced.

I just want you to know, even though we are across the pond, we get it. Many here are in the same situation. This is a place that you can come, pour your heart out, share your troubles and how you cope. It may not make things better but just the act of sharing gives us the opportunity to learn from others. I know this has been a place of healing, learning, education and the overall feeling I can come here for help and not be judged.

You may not have the call to post but please come read, learn from others. I have.
Well hi dear @Blessed. I'm back and had a busy time of it. However, it's been over a year now April 2022 to April 2023. It's now June and three things are still lingering on. Chitaki mushrooms, I'd expected that all would have been settled.

The food, well, I've changed things around in last June 2022. So I've been saving loads and eating much better (due to hypothyroidism, taking selenium and lost nearly 30 lbs, yippee!) Lately daughter and I have been travelling further afield (next village) and we've been finding bargains.

Oh I did something bit wild but twas needed. I changed both old (over 15 years each) fridge and freezer. Got a 50/50 fridge/freezer top/bottom with manual ice cube maker and water dispenser in door. We just love it!

We go out about 3 times every two weeks. Those trolleys are great but not much to store in lol! And we tire easily. After two stores that's us going back home.

Today, Sunday 11, we went out for fun. Swimming at the local pool and then tried new pizza place for dinner. Yup, the swimming was fun but the pizza nope first and last time. What a mistake.

Now home and it's still hot at 20:30 and plenty of light clouds. However, the weather alerts for thunderstorms are possible later on.

Thanks for all the lovely replies. Much appreciated 👍 😁

We Walmarted, and while we were in the store the sun came out. It's only 84 but the humidity makes it feel like 90. Guess the a/c need to get turned back on.

That only leaves bank and laundry tomorrow.

Storms are supposed to fire up around 9 tonight. Storms. Like thunder, lightning, hail and a tornado or 3. Eek.

I went back to delivering meals to shut-ins today. They sent someone to go with me, but he's an office worker and hasn't done the route before. There are 16 people on the route and they are spread out all over the town (I'll get the mileage next time - probably close to 30 miles). There were six new people and address on the route list that I wasn't familiar with since the last time I did this, and since the supervisor hadn't done it before, it took us some time (about an hour and a half), but eventually worked it out. Sounds like I'll be assigned Thursdays until further notice.
I used MapQuest to try to get a bird's-eye view of my delivery route stops. To get an idea of the scale, between A and B (bottom of map) is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km). This doesn't include distance from home to the meal pick up site (A) and then from there back home again, but I'm fairly close to K, so add another 8 miles for that round trip.

I also started boycotting "In-N-Out Burger" after I learnt that the owner is the youngest self-made billionaire in America.
She inherited this chain so not self-made.

”According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, in 2012, Snyder was the youngest American female billionaire.[4] As the sole beneficiary of family trusts, she received control of the company's stock in its entirety on her 35th birthday, becoming the sole owner.[5][6]

I do not buy bread when it's sitting out unwrapped like that...especially if it's outdoors! It's too bad they didn't have more rides for adults. That ride pictured at the top is something I would have gone on back in the day. I hope you had fun. We have similar fairs here in northern Jersey but I haven't been to one in a long time.

~Updated my Family Budget Planner spreadsheet with my latest purchases.
~Made lists for our local supermarket, Costco and questions for my doctor.
~Indulged in what might be considered a weird hobby: Looked at what apartments are available, this time in Kennesaw, GA. because my son had told me if we ever had to move from here, he'd consider moving there since he took apartment tours down there several years ago and was impressed with what one gets for the money.
~Practiced piano for about an hour. I brushed up on some of the songs that are slated for my album (some written more than a decade ago) and did finger exercises. I am going to have to cut my nails before I practice again. :sneaky:

A couple of walks. It was muggy but not too hot. While in a small wine store, I was startled by black blob on my left side, the side I’m legally blind on. It was a little black dog. Only service animals are permitted in stores so this was the last thing I expected to (almost) see.

We had some thunder & lightning overnight, but doesn't look like there's been any rain. Forecast today is a bit confused - there may or may not be some rain this afternoon. At least the forecast has got the day right and that's as much as we can hope for.

Only got half the grass cut yesterday, so that's one job to do this morning. Must mix some 2-stroke for the strimmer and trim round the edges.
By UK standards we have a large garden which we love, but it's a lot of work. Some neighbours just have the garden in grass, so they have ride-on mowers. We have fruit trees and vegetable patches, so we have a self propelled 'walk behind' mower. Still takes ages to do the whole garden.

Sorting out my problematic sewerage treatment plant, I thought folk would like to know that.
The first estimate is £25,000, what fun, more than the cost of having a pee in London and Brighton public toilets if we still had any.
