Still No rain here.. very hot, & sunny.. and everything has dried up..even my roses around the door are wilting.!! I've just been and mowed the lawns on a high height setting .. simply to mow up all the dried leaves.. much quicker than raking... and then watered the roses... the Autumn Joy... the ferns... and all the pots... . Tonight if there's still no sign of rain.. I'll get the hosepipe out and sprinklers

I'm sitting here at my desk now with a Battery controlled desk fan on full blast... and a cup of iced coke. ☀️🥤

@hollydolly For cooling your hot self: cucumbers. Yes. Cucumbers. Peel cukes. Wipe down your forearms, back of knees, around face and neck with peels. Slice peeled cukes with some cut up tomatoes and maybe some sliced red onions and marinate in whatever kind of salad dressing you like or maybe just oil and vinegar. Eat.

My grandmother told me about using the cuke peels on my skin. Temporary but it works.

My Shrubs are arriving midday , so I will plant them ,,the ground was prepared last week and yesterdays rain as done its job , so it will be easy digging a hole .Ive just lifted the grape vine off the ground , and trimmed the branches back and tied it to a support , hope it last .
I forgot wht kind of shrubs you've bought. What are they, please?

Trish where are you...roughly... I can't remember.... We've not had a single sign of rain today..the skies got grey for about an hour then the sun came back out, and blue skies again.. but the humidity is awful
A bit nearer central London I think. It definitely rained about 3ish yesterday although, not torrential. I thought when I heard the thunder a couple of hours later that it was raining again but, when I went outside, it was dry so, not sure if it rained later or not! The humidity definitely cleared though and it has been lovely today. :)

they have arrested a man . Scary stuff , the 3 run down was outside the Theatre i go to , You never know whos out there .

we've still had no sign or rain at all... very sunny, very hot, 85 deg f

I've never used a duvet. I don't relish the thought of pulling the blanket out, then shoving it back in. Bottom and top sheet is all I need. i guess in an hotel, that 3rd sheet would be good.
I only use a duvet on our RV bed (king). The dog sleeps on the bed and sometimes his paws aren't fully clean when we camp in rustic areas. Stripping off the duvet and putting it back on would be a huge ordeal for one person, but DH and I do it together so it's not too bad.

That triple sheeting trick would be a great way to keep comforters and blankets clean. I'm going to try that for our guest rooms' beds. Need to buy some pretty top sheets for them.

Thanks @Lady, no your reply is not late. Is this the shrub?

I think it's very beautiful!

You can use triple sheeting with a duvet too. It’s pretty standard in the hotels I‘ve stayed in.

you're right Star, it is a huge ordeal for one person, and even more so for someone who has OA in their fingers and can't grip...
