What are you doing today 2023

It must be thrilling to have your family honored for their work. So many leaving a legacy for future generations, that would include you and your son's musical gifts as well.
Awwww...thank you so much for saying that Blessed❣️ I do hope our musical legacy lives on after we are gone. It is nice that my husband will be honored. He was so well known in our community and beyond. He was a man who would give "the shirt off his back", as they say.

Went to the range and fired off 25 rounds from my AR, then another 30 or 40 rounds from my 9mm, 20 rounds or so from the .44 and a dozen rounds from the Winchester 12 Gauge. Tomorrow, back to work. That’s kind of an expensive afternoon, but fun. I wanted to shoot some clay, but our club only has 2 clay traps and I didn’t want to wait in line to get one. It was a nice day here, so just like the golf courses being busy, so are the shooting ranges.

No, no! An hour in M&S:ROFLMAO:

In London for a few days, then Bournemouth for a few more days.
Oh I hope you got into a Big M&S and not a little local one......believe it or not I;ve never been to Bournemouth.. it's only 2 hours from here, but because it's one of the most popular resorts in the UK.. I just don't like to go where there's massive crowds...

Why would a priest need to escape from a castle? Dare I even ask?
Religious persecution, religious wars. You'd be a certain religion but didn't want others to know.

@HoneyNut My apartment still echoes, but I have no intention of getting more furniture.

@debodun My new town is very dusty. I was taking comforters and other items outside and shaking them, but it's difficult. For me anyway. Then I hit on the idea of putting items in the dryer on No Heat. The machine shakes the dust out for me. About 20 minutes per item.

To those who are sick of appointments and procedures, my sympathies. I don't think I'd be able to handle it. When younger, yes, but not now. How ironic!

@StarSong needs more dessert/sweets. How about buying some Pop Rocks candy?

Good grief, it's almost supper time. I guess the day is gone. I'll do some exercises, then I think I'll spend the evening reading in bed. Maybe some Schopenhauer 🙄.

Received gifts from our neighbour friends. Two different size storage boxes. One went into the living room as footstool. The second one in Bonnie's room to store her materials for sewing out of cardboard boxes and into this new clean storage. Both are velvet covered, very nice.

Shifted a drawers cabinet in front of window and rearranged Manor Tower for kitty 🐱.

Later on this week, got accounting to complete, and two large cabinets to empty in order to shift the glass one out of the floor lamp's reflection. Busy week ahead in order to survive the date tomorrow. First one without hubby and 49th anniversary that my Papa left us too suddenly.

@hollydolly, It was a big store, and I think it was near Regent Street. Does that sound right? This was in 1981, a long time ago, so I'm not sure.

The pic you posted of Bournemouth. Holy Cow! It sure didn't look like that when I was there. It was a busy place, but nowhere near as zany as that looks. Not even close! One thing that struck me as funny was sun bathers sitting in front of the little huts with what looked like shields under their chins to reflect the sun onto their faces.

That would have been the Oxford street store I would imagine.. can't remember ever being one in Regent street

Yes the above photo now reflects not the sun onto people's faces sadly.. but our huge Explosion of other member countries shall we say... as well as the effect Covid had on people travelling abroad..

Funny I can remember that from more than 40 years ago but can't remember what I had for breakfast.
join the club....

Funny thing today when I went to collect the Onesie... ( btw I;ve opened it, and this thing is HUGE looks like it was made for someone 8 feet tall.. ).. the young guy dealing with the Click and collect orders said .. ''I can remember every single thing in this department, but I cannot remember a single thing upstairs.. ''..I thought , this is you at 19 give it another 50 years son.. you won't know what planet you're on... :D

My menu objective is foods that both evoke the 1970s and that people will actually happily eat after 50 years of (mostly) improved cuisine. Harder than you'd think. Certainly harder than I thought.

So many foods faded from favor for good reason, Pop Rocks included. I did add a couple of kitschy items to my list though, including pigs in a blanket made with Lil Smokies and refrigerator crescent rolls, with a couple of dipping sauces alongside. My grandchildren think they're a riot (made them together for Halloween - but as mummies) and there will be a few other children here.

However, your point is well taken. I might need another dessert. Perhaps something light, but definitely not Jell-O, mostly because I'll get stuck with it. Yeah, it'd give everyone a laugh but nobody would eat it).

The amaretto mousse will be cold and quite rich, the brownies are deeply chocolaty and very rich, and the carrot cake... well, what can I say about my carrot cake? It's sublime. And rich.

The Waldorf salad will be light and fruity, so kinda dessert-y.

I'll ponder this and get back to you.

Nap in the morning. Had a brief conversation with one of my favorite people. Eye doctor in the afternoon. My eye pressures are good, we are happy about that. I waited for 45 minutes before being called in. They were crazy busy and are now short handed. But I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the doctor came in after the intake person screened me (questions, eye chart exam). The timing was great. I kept my son apprised of where I was in the exam process and he let me know what time he was leaving work. He pulled up a minute before I was all done...new appointment scheduled and all. I had my son sit with me when I prepared two weeks of meds in my pill cases. Watched some T.V., washed out and put new litter in Deja's box after my son emptied it. WWF and more T.V.

While my husband went for an appointment, I waited at a mall. Two hours was a long wait. I did put lots of steps on my tracker walking past store displays that I found really unattractive.

Rather than buy a treat for $5, I went to the drug store and bought a bag of cookies for half that price. I had two while drinking a coffee. My husband reminded me that I can afford the treat and why I started a topic about being too thrifty.

I did buy an unneeded lipstick for $32 so I’m not totally cheap. Now I have bright lips and more cookies for tomorrow.

Hollydolly, I have been to Bournemouth, but off-season, so it wasn't so busy. Can't say I was terribly impressed. Portsmouth & Southsea, as you'll know had primarily shingle beaches, so I had to head east for a sandy beach - Bracklesham Bay, The Witterings etc.. They could be horrifically busy on summer weekends with people coming down from London and surrounding areas.
At least here, I have easy access to nice quiet beaches.

Back to reality - shopping today in Fraserburgh (which does have a great beach). I'll take the campervan instead of the car. More space, and it needs a good run every now and then.

Good morning kids. It's gonna be 70 again today. I can deal with that!

Today would have been my 34th wedding anniversary. DH picked the day, and I remember it as if it were just yesterday. The judge's outer office was cram packed with couples getting married that day. There was one woman all decked out in a Valentine red gown with a red veil, and her partner was wearing army fatigues!

I gotta get ready to get outta here so that I have time to make extra chocolate croissants for @Oldntired.
